Yeah I think Brown is my #1, I've declined all my other waitlists and wake forest acceptance except I'm stayin on Pitts...but don't know if I would pick them if I got in, both great schools but I've been chewing on Brown for a while and Providence is sweet.

...and while I was up there I got in a teensy accident...this lady came out of nowhere, I taped the side mirror back on the bus though so you can hardly notice...my bad.

I interviewed at Wake last week, and they told us that there *are* spots left in the class that will be decided on this Wednesday. They also said not to expect a response until the following week. Good luck to both of us! 🙂

I called ECU today and apparently they are interviewing through late april. Sheila told me the class isn't full and I figure if they still have that many interviews to do, they must have quite a few spots left. Thought some of you might want to know.

Hello again from Central America. You all should really hit the road for awhile and head this way!!! Sandy beaches and Carribbean breezes have a way of puting med school realities out of your mind...for awile at least. And the truth is I would have been checking and posting much more frequently if internet service was any more relaiable here. Last week the island lost power for 4 days...the generator went out. There's only one. Quite the life.
What's this I hear about final decisions being sent out at the end of this month. UNC has been promising us since January that we would hear something at the beginning of March at the latest. I really wish that we could just get some straight up answers and some follow up. But enough complaining from me. We're all in this thing together. And what's another couple weeks at this point?
Could somebody inform me about the 2nd look weekend. I have no idea what it is or what I need to do in regards to it. Additionally, other than the FAFSA is there any other financial aid information that we need to be working on or is that required after an acceptance?
Hope all is well back in the States. I actually do miss all the daily madness and support of this thread. Lets keep our heads up and hope for some acceptances. There's something to be said for our perservierence bodering on insanity!!!

My interview went pretty well, but I still have no idea what to expect. My first one was with a radiologist, who accidentally took me for another interviewee, so he started talking about Johns Hopkins and how great it was, until I said, "Oh, actually, this is me (pointing to his list of interviewees). I went to the University of Pennsylvania." To which he replied slowly, "Oooooh, U of P. Ok." And NO ONE calls it U of P, so I knew he wasn't too familiar with the school, which completely voided one of the only good things going for me! My other two interviewers were very cool though, and I was much more relaxed for them. I think they went well.

Basically, with my stats and interview performance, I'm expecting a waitlist email next week. But, hopefully they'll put me in the top waitlist group so that an LOI will push me over the threshold to an acceptance. That's the wishful thinking plan that's taken up residence in my head so that I don't get too upset next week if I don't get accepted. 😛

Yeah, I had the same racket going in my head until you went and wrote that there is hope. GEE THANKS!! j/k 😉 I don't know how much those interviews, as short as they are, can really mean. On the bright side, the radiologist probably felt a little embarrased and tried to compensate by lauding you.... well, hopefully!! 👍

Why don't you call tomorrow afternoon and ask who got in and who got waitlisted? Then you could post the list here and I would know!! How 'bout it?

I have a friend who called UNC today. They told him decisions would be made at the end of March/1st of April. Also, they may not call us, it might just be a USMail thing. 🙄 I guess we'll see what happens.

I was alright today while at work because I hadn't remembered I am waiting. But I remembered once the students left this afternoon and got frustrated that it will be next week!! UH! The weekend is going to suck!

Here's what I know about UNC and ECU from last year:

ECU sent out all their decisions right after Mother's Day. They're not really true rolling admissions, but this year it seemed to be a bit different because some of us got both rejections and acceptances early. From what I hear the acceptance is in a small envelope too.

Last year UNC kept pushing the date back too, and it seems like they're interviewing quite late this year, most people on the thread last year had the latest interviews in mid February. The date for decisions was the end of March last year, then it was moved back to mid April, and when people called mid-April, they were told that they were being mailed in a few days, and people got them the last week of April (the 28th for me).

Just as a warning, a few people last year called UNC to get their decisions and were given the wrong information. They were told one thing and when they got the letter later on instead of being waitlisted they were rejected, etc. So maybe it would be good not to call because they seemed to be really busy and unable to get every single detail right. This year it seems like everyone has more applicants, and because of this they're kind of disorganized. I think I would rather wait a few more weeks and get the right decision than to try to find out and be told something on the phone and then find out later that it's not accurate information. So give the people in the admissions offices time to get everything done and mailed out if at all possible.

Hey, Sally. Yes, the ECU acceptance is in a standard size envelope, but you can tell it has more than a single sheet of paper. Included are several sheets of health/immunization forms, etc....Hope that helps. Good luck to all who are waiting.

According to Lisa interviews are done... from info a few weeks ago.

If any of y'all don't get a chance to speak with a first year at second look and want to... pm me and I'll introduce you to some. I don't think we have an exam that following monday so let me know while you are in town. If you are actually making a decision and want info about the new curriculum that started this year, a first year would be the only one who could truly answer from experience. There were ups and downs. Overall sounds like an imporovement over last year, but I KNOW nuero will be better for incomings.

Bad news is that Berryhill will be closed for construction next year and I would be surprised if there are replacement desk spaces. I am devastated and do not know what I will do with all my crap that has accumulated there. *sniff* 🙁

Last years class LOVED neuro. They all wanted to be neurologists after the class. But the awesome course director was away on sabaticcal this year and with the new curriculum organization it was pretty much a bust this year. The new guy is very knowledgable, but there were many issues that left me feeling less then educated in the topic. Basically it wasn't taught well or appropriately in my opinion. By appropriately, we read a ginormous textbook with excessive info and were overloaded with our other class demands. Next year I guaruntee that it will not be the same. Everyone knows the way they did it for us sucked. And the amazing teacher should be back. I am jealous. 🙁

i dont know...I do know they have started handing out their scholarships which usually doesnt happen until the class is pretty set (~90%). Also even on applicant profiles a ton of people have been accepted this year (~19) just on SDN so its looking like the time is near. Also hinting to bad news is that registered user is saying they said that decisions may come by US mail now = WL or rejection usually, and not by phone. It is March 20th...time to face the music.

Last years class LOVED neuro. They all wanted to be neurologists after the class.

Wait until they get on the wards. If neuro is high on your list you should come do a rotation at Wake where neuro rocks. I heard that Carolina doesn't match too many into neuro because the department is kinda weak and overshadowed by the excellent psych dept. (which is why I'll be comin to Carolina for a psych elective since psych at Wake has a lousy rep). I'm curious to hear what UNCers say about this. Is it accurate? I heard this from two neurologists.

I guess the alternate is the same as a waitlist. Sorta disappointed, but expected nothing better... or worse. This hurts us bc we have 2 kids and one on the way (due in July). Now we have to come up with a date sometime in June as a cutoff. Having said that, I am starting to draft my letter to the adcom.

I don't think anyone not on the adcom really knows whats up. I'm sure they have more acceptances to give out, just not sure how many (40%-10%).

On MDapps there are 14 acceptances if you include incomplete apps for this year. Last year there were 20. 14/20=0.7 So they might be 70% full. So maybe 30% left to fill. 160 seats X 0.3= 48 left to fill. Yes I am bored and also a bit neurotic. Bottom line: who the f^ck knows?!

Nothing here either. It would be a miracle (a wonderful one I might add) to get a call.

LO281OK, I hope something will work out for you. I totally understand your situation. We are expecting our second one in August.

Until I get that thin envelope with one page letter and a suggestion to pursue podiatry, I am keeping my hopes positive for UNC, ECU.

I'm definately gonna give it some thought, but right now I'm leaning toward Brown still...good luck, I'm really routing for everybody else (especially those without an acceptance or at least one at a place they wanna go) cause this actually complicates stuff for me more than anything.
