moose9781 said:Did you guys on the waitlist receive an Alternate List Update e-mail today?
Bascally it had no new information just a reminder to keep your conact info updated and to send in any updates to your app.

Pewl said:Heh, I hope to have you guys as classmates. You guys seem quite easy going and would enjoy a bizarre/obscene/politically incorrect sense of humor. =P
firebird69guy said:I hope SLU doesn't care that I'm an alcoholic, fun-loving social guy. =)
Do you think they're too conservative in that sense? =) I'll still get all my work done.
Pewl said:Alcohol and I don't really get along (allergy) but I still drink it anyway, heh. I hope we can find people at SLU who have a great appreciation for the finer things in life... like Dave Chappelle, Family Guy, The Big Lebowski, the movie "Waiting," Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle... etc.
BTW, did you know that there is both a Jack in the Box AND White Castle within a mile of the school?? I haven't had White Castle regularly since I lived in Indiana!!

Pewl said:There is nothing wrong with talking about cartoons!
Giggity.
twoACES said:lol naw of course not. aside from sports and news, i watch cartoons and i think thats about it. and maybe ultimate fighter on spikeTV if its fight week. but then again thats sports.....
u dont like southpark? i bet their mouths are too potty for you huh lol
Pewl said:Are you kidding me? "Too potty mouth?!" There's no such thing! Southpark has some great lines! One of my favorite was "What's the matter baby, got a little sand in your vagina?" I also love the episode where Cartman becomes a christian band member and he starts singing "Jesus, I wanna get on my knees are start pleasing you! I wanna feel your salvation all over my face!"
I just haven't seen nearly as much southpark as I have simpsons and family guy. (Even though I have every season of south park on dvd.)
Pewl said:Being in St. Louis again reminds me of the midwest I grew up in. The feel of the roads and the freeways and stuff is like Indiana, so midwest. =P

Also I heard from my premed advisor that the majority of waitlist movement at SLU is in July. Can anyone verfiy? Has anyone heard of actual waitlist movement yet?
paceac said:I haven't heard that but that doesn't mean it isn't the case. I don't know of anyone being pulled off the waitlist.
kitt9000 said:Sadly, that's probably the case. I don't know what leads people to think that SLU waitlists have alot of movement. does it? I hope so. Because this is me right now.... 🙁 🙁 🙁
RayhanS1282 said:I called SLU yesterday. Is it just me or they got the same two people answering phones? I feel bad calling them on a bi-weekly basis, but dang if I ain't interested. Anyways, they have had accepted people from the list. They call you first and then if they can't reach you, then they send an e-mail. There have been people rejected outright with no alternate list lingering. They also won't confirm which month usually get most waitlist movement because it varies. And no, they won't tell you your position on the waitlist and will not play "marco polo" to let you guess your position which was crippilingly disappointing.
I think SLU admissions staff should work for CIA or something since their motto seems to be "Deny, deny....blah blah blah classified information....blah...e-mail....blah blah get bent loser...blah".
paceac said:Will they at least tell you how favorable it looks that you might get pulled off the waitlist?
Pewl said:i'm surprised there isn't much waitlist movement. they accept more than twice the number of available spots.
Messerschmitts said:There hasn't been much waitlist movement from ANY school, from what I've been seeing. Maybe it's a huge CONSPIRACY, and a buttload of movement will suddenly occur in the last week of July or something. 😛
Just curious...............what are your plans for next year barring an acceptance?RayhanS1282 said:I tried that. They said no. Hence, I suggested a "guessing my position" vis a vis Marco Polo game. And they refused this extremely entertaining offer. The called ended with me crying, screaming and soiling myself.
etf said:i need to get off this waitlist bad...what do they want, blood? i'll give it to them.
knight3w said:I'll give them an arm (granted I dont need it to do medicine).
Is it possible to get a role call of everyone on the waitlist?
I'll start. 32, 3.2, 3.4.
Good luck to everyone. I hope we all get some serious movement soon.

kashif said:Hi guys
Don't worry about the waitlist as of yet. I too was waitlisted but I got accepted last year on July 1. I had my interview on the 3rd week of Jan. and the waitlist letter came around Feb. I remember that even during orientation week people were leaving for other schools and they were still taking people off the waitlist. Last year I think they stop interviews around early april. This year they had interviews during our last week of class in May! Also remember that our class size has jumped from 156 to about 175 this year, bigger the class the bigger the waitlist.
If anyone wants to contact me more about SLU, you are welcomed to. You should see me during your first week of Orientation on Friday, when the various clubs introduce themselves to you. I am President or Co-president of the Surgery club, the AIMS club, and PNHP.
Hope to see you there. 🙂
etf said:yeah, i know what you guys mean - as if, even when the waitlist moves a lot, it still feels like i'll be the only one without an acceptance. hopefully i'll get in, and i can join that surgery club 🙂
kashif said:We'll be glad to have you. During one our suture workshops you'll meet Dr. Smith, he is the Phase I director and an incredible nice guy. He will be the actually teacher of the suture workshop and you get to practice on fake skin. Year one was tough but it was also a blast. 🙂
