I wonder how long it's gonna be before one of us suffers a breakdown during class due to In-N-Out withdrawal or California Burrito withdrawal.

Oh God...You're right Pewl. I only realized that fact now...

No In-N-Out in St. Louis???? 😱

There is no In-N-Out in St. Louis, but there is a Jack in the Box about a mile south of the Med school. 😛

But JITB is NO In-N-Out!!!! 🙁 that makes me very sad, and still being waitlisted, that makes me sad too 🙁

I have yet to hear of anyone being pulled off the SLU waitlist this year. Supposedly people have been though.

Yeah, I called to ask and that's what they said. But it's as surprising as me giving birth that not one SDNer has reported being pulled off the SLU waitlist. This leads me to believe that SLU has interviewed phantom students and did they use ectoplasmic goo to sign their names.

In-N-Out fries are NASTY. They're greasy as hell. It's all about their animal-style burgers! =P

We do have white castle to make up for it, thank god.

I think I'm gonna miss the burritos more. It's tough to get authentic Mexican food in St. Louis!

Anyone notice how the posts in this page is a split between food and waitlist questions.

Post 1 - I like burritos.
Post 2 - Me too, in and out burritos.
post 3 - When will this ****ing waitlist move?
post 4 - Damn this wait.
post 5 - Why not eat a burrito while waiting to hear from them?

yes, I've noticed

yes food + waitlist=life 👎 it sucks 🙁

It could be worse... you could be waitlisted without food.

What exactly is in the "secret sauce" at in and out?

strawberryfield- Are you going to bring your Golden Retriever to med school?

it all depends on where I go, what kind of housing I am able to find, which may be last minute w/ the the waitlist movement (or seeming lack thereof), I really want to take her of course, but I also want what's best for her, and if I don't have a lot of time to devote to her or a nice place for her to be while I am away, then it would be best if she stayed w/ my parents, at least for first year anyways. 🙁 I will miss her terribly, but she will be well taken care of and my parents also have another golden that will keep her company. 😳

thanks for asking 😉 she is a wonderful dog 😍

yeah, lol  or it could be better and I could be accepted with food 😀

I am willing to live off water and bread if i can get off the waitlist. 😱

I would love to have a dog in med school, but I know that I'm not gonna be able to adequately take care of one. I worked in veterinary radiation oncology in grad school and I came across all sorts of dogs that I both liked and didn't like. I think I wanna get a labrador someday. It's all about the big dogs. There's no point in owning a dog if you're gonna get a small one. =P

And back to the food topic: Did you know that Panera Bread originated near St. Louis? It's still a relatively small and unpopular chain in California. Same goes for Chipotle. Everyone here knows Chipotle and can name where they've seen one but no one cares to go there because there's so much REAL Mexican food around.

Big dogs are the BEST!!! But they do make it more diffucult to find a place to live... many appartments and condos have 50# wt limits and I can't exactly afford a house w/ a yard. 🙁

I have an australian shephard who has been with me for 10 years. I don't think I'll be able to take good care of him while in medical school, so I'm going to give him to a friend who will take good care of him. It's going to be very difficult for me to part with him, as he has been by my side since I was thirteen. 🙁

Time to put the retriever on a diet.

well said re: the big dogs!

since it did originate in STL, Panera is Panera everywhere but here, where it's St. Louis Bread Co. Same menu though. And don't underestimate our Mexican food... it may not be SoCal, but we've got a few pretty good places! go to Cherokee Street just west of Jefferson. 😍

Anyone know SLU's start date for 1st year's for the c/o 2010?

awww... but she's not fat though, she's muscular 😳 I guess maybe she could pass for 50#, but she's more like 65#

The white coat ceremony is on August 6th. The first week is orientation and then classes begin on the 14th.

What's your guys' plan if you don't get pulled off the waitlist?

I'll be attending KCOM (DO program) 😉 But I'm also on PSU's waitlist as well, which has had NO movement to date 👎

Is there a dress code for the white coat ceremony?

University College Dublin. :luck: o' the Irish!

For white coat I would go with slacks, a nice shirt, and a tie. It is a pretty formal event held in a cathedral. My friend wore just some pants and a shirt last year and he felt super awkward.

If SLU and Drexel don't work out this year, then <sigh> I will be attending St. George's in Greneda this fall. My dad has worked with many doctor's that have graduated from St. George's and he has nothing but great things to say about them. My cousin who is doing his residency in Detroit also works alongside St. George's graduates and tells me that it would be a great place to go.

The only problem is that my heart is still set on St. Louis or Drexel (Drexel being my first choice) and I'm having a hard time being excited about St. George's (still wouldn't mind going there though)...

that's how I'm feeling too... 🙁 I would love to KCOM, but my heart is elsewhere. I sympathize w/ you kitt 😳 I hope we both get in where we want to go. :luck: Have you written Drexel a letter of intent?

Heh, sometimes I wish we could just skip the white coat crap and orientation and get down to business. =P

I think it's nice they have a white coat ceremony. Orientation week will be a good opportunity for the class to get to know one another a little before the chaos of classes begins.

Yeah, I wonder how many of the 170 some odd people we'll actually get to know.

I guess we will find out. I would imagine we will get to know almost everyone on some level over the four years. My high school class was about that size and I knew everyone.

I have written multiple letters to Drexel telling them they are my first choice and sent the dean of admissions e-mails as well. I think they might get sick of me an reject me anyways. At this point, however, anything goes. If I could only go out to philly and camp outside their school, maybe they would accept me. 😀 Im happy (and sad at the same time) that someone else feels the same way in this thread. If we end up at our backup schools (which I pray we don't) then I'm sure we'll be accepting our fate in no time...I can't believe this month we'll know if anything happens with our desired schools. Good luck Strawberry and I hope we both hear some good news!!!

Ashy Larry is the best character ever. He should have more recurring roles.
