Hey, I just got off the phone with Jbone for all those who were wondering how he was doing. He sounded really tired. He went to get the staples out yesturday and he said he has just been lounging around for the last week. The surgery went well and he didn't die so that is a positive.

Cf, now is the time to strike.....when the giant is wounded!

Excellent! Now he just has to go through all that fabulous PT. Been there. (Not for knees, but other stuff.) The PT is darn near worse than the surgery.

Well that's good news. Did you tell him all his SDN buddies were thinking about him?

whoa, jbone had surgery? and I wouldn't have found out unless I came to this thread?
anyway, i hope he feels well soon and his boob job went off without a hitch. I expect to see pics of his mighty cleavage, once the scars heal.

I had no idea!!!! I hope he is doing well.

Hi all,

Just got accepted to BU here... so I think I'll probably drop from the VCU alternate list soon 🙂 Good luck everyone!

Congrats on getting into BU! And thanks for being considerate for us VCU hopefuls. 🙂

Sure did. You should have heard him get all choked up about it. You know those big, gargantuous guys are just oversized teddy bears right?

Oh yeah, thanks to Dr.Md for your withdrawl. 😀

45!

I've been incognito for a few days...

Well, it's April next week. Traditionally the time for some slight movement of the waitlist. Here's to all of us hopers!! :luck:

(Oh, and congrats to those with acceptances elsewhere and thanks for dropping your VCU spot or waitlist-- warms our hearts that you are so considerate! 😍 )

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is planning on going to the second look weekend at VCU on April 7 and 8. The second look program is through the department of student outreach, so if anyone is interested, give them a call. I will probably be going to VCU for a second look. It will be nice to meet some of the fellow classmates. Good luck to everyone.

i'll be withdrawing off the waitlist soon. hope this helps.

What is this page 3 action? I never even post and I am disappointed. Yeesh. Doing my part to bump here.

Oh, and while I'm at it, here's the count til May 15th: 44

VCU love, folks 😍

excuse my ignorance, but what's Harvard Extention school? An extention of Harvard I'm guessing, but that doesn't mean much. I could just Wikipedia-it (notice how 'google-it' is kinda out now) but its more fun to ask you.

Why is the second look weekend only for minority students??

I was accepted into VCU on Oct. 15 and haven't heard anything about this second look weekend. Where did you find out about it???

Harvard Extension School is Harvard's continuing education program, open to the public, to take classes at night. There is a post-bac program in premedical studies, which is what I did. It's a really fantastic, very affordable program that is taught at the same caliber and by the same professors as the undergraduate college, but it is more accessible to adults, people returning to school after years off, people who work full time (since most classes are held in the evening), and people who don't have $40,000 a year to drop on school. There's a website: http://www.extension.harvard.edu/

43.

Where are all the VCU Central peeps? Out enjoying the spring weather? I did that earlier today and am now fairly sunburned. It's okay, the cherry blossoms here in DC were worth it.

And has anyone gotten pulled off of the alternate list yet? Either in-state or out of state?

I got sunburned too.....but you're right it was totally worth it. I'm just an hr from DC so we enjoyed the same beautiful weather!!! YAY spring is finally here!!!

Did you enjoy the same cattle-car metro experience that I did as well? That was nuts! But still, I had never seen anything like all the cherry blossoms before and I'm glad I went.

cattle-car metro experience? nope. i was fortunate enough not to deal with that.
i didn't actually go to DC for the cherry blossoms but I went to a park near my house where a gazillion other people had gathered. It was fun...my nose kinda hurt tho if I try to crinkle it. hahaha.
Maybe i'll go see the blossoms next yr. Altho I live so close to DC I've never actually gone to see the cherry-blossom trees in full bloom....hopefully next weekend.

I've been sittin' here bein' cold, windy, and rainy in Colorado. Trying hard not to OCD so much anymore - working on puzzles, need to put the baseboard back on the walls, paint (that seems to never end), been caulking the tile in the kitchen, cleaning out the ditch, washing the dogs... you name it. And trying really really REALLY hard not to think too much about being on a waitlist at the one school I would truly absolutely drop everything else for. *sigh* 🙁

Oh okay. There are lot of trees around the area to enjoy, but I think about half of DC was at the tidal basin today. There was actually a wait outside of the metro stop to get on because so many people were there.

ShyRem, I think that's a good plan to keep busy and try not to think about it too much. Washing dogs on rainy days can be kind of frustrating though. One time my dog ran outside immediately after the bath and rolled in the first mud puddle he could find.

So still no acceptances off of the waitlist at all?

tacrum, that's a good indication that a hose would be necessary. Ah, the benefits of *not* having a dog door. 😀

42!

Wow, how is everyone?

Hopefully this will be the week we start to see some movement... and, if not, then I guess that large number above is a valid milestone. 😡

Good thing for me is that life is getting in the way of my checking too often... well, I guess that's good. At least it's making the time go quickly.

Yeah, it would be nice if it moved this week. It's hard when you have a family and are trying to decide where you will be spending the next part of your life. I hope that we all hear soon so I can start looking for places to live in VA and so my wife won't be so stressed out. At least there is one positive, I talked up the school enough that my wife is actually excited about going to VCU and leaving all her family back in good ol' Utah. 👍

Hey guys I was just wondering why your counting down to may 15th? From what i understand that is simply the deadline for accepted students to make their decision, so if your on the waiting list you wont really hear anything till june at the earliest.

i doubt any of us expect all witdhrawals to immediately turn into emailed acceptances on May 15...we count bc it makes the waiting easier since some of us have been doing it since september

Besides, last year waitlist movement was heaviest from about April 10 until June 10. VCU is a rolling waitlist and they don't accept more seats than they actually have; since people have to withdraw before May 15 we should see some significant waitlist movement right around then. Besides, it makes us feel less in limbo-land.

What can I say? We're typically OCD pre-meds.

hey guys...i know this was a bit premature, but i called vcu today...they said that the waitlist has been moving...a couple times a day...so, slowly, hopefully, it will get to us. i justed wanted to share this info...a little more hope for us, right?

Cool. Waitlist movement. 👍 We needs lots of that.
