Hang in there, all you kits and kats. Even if the good news doesn't come next week, there's still the waitlist!
You mean the one I"ve been on since mid-october?
Kill me...

Do they release any info on when they will send out offers? Or do we just get a status update with our decision.

Before previous offer dates, the status page (before you log in) had an announcement saying when the offers would be

I'm with you! After all, "hold for decision" and "waitlist" mean basically the same thing to me!! More waiting.... especially as an OOS. Argh. 😡

The Admissions Committee met yesterday but was unable to complete discussions on all candidates interviewed. It will be next week before we are able to complete the discussions. Consequently, the final offers for the last 40 seats in the class will not be made until after next weeks meeting. Those of you who are waiting to hear should expect that we will complete the work on Wednesday March 22nd.

Awww... back up to 8 days :meanie:

Dagnabbit, I just saw the update, too. Are they the most inefficient people on the planet?? Or do they like to argue a lot?

And for just "40 seats"... that blows for us OOSers. <sigh>
:barf:

I'm just praying for a waitlist, and not a rejection.

There are way too many OOS who prolly got 30-31+ MCATs and 3.7s that will get in.

Prolly about 10 OOS offers

Me too, jbone. But getting into VCU off the waitlist is still better than not getting in at all...or getting in nowhere... 🙁

How are there only 40 seats? With how few they gave out before, it seems like there should be more than that. 😕

Wow.... I have a feeling that this time will be the exact same as offers before. Excitement, anxiety and nervousness, then come the day... nothing. nada.

That's exactly what I was wondering...

Don't say that.

Sorry... I don't want to sound frustrated, but this process is really getting me down 🙁

We all share the same frustration. The few who were accepted probably hit the road away from this thread a long time ago!!

It's a shame we're back up to slightly over 1 week again... I was feeling happy about seeing that number get ever closer to 0. So, back up to 8 plus the 40-seat thing as an added annoyance, and I'm ready to go take a vacation and just try and forget about it for a while. (yeah, good luck with that)

I am also confused by the 40-seat thing... are they accepting fewer than they thought they would, banking on moving more from the waitlist? Was there a group of people who are coming in after deferral (OK, not likely, but I still had to say it)? I know a lot of schools accept about 40-50% more than they have seats for b/c there are always a certain number who turn them down... but I guess torturing those of us on the waitlist and keeping us on baited breath makes it easier on VCU's adrenals. <sigh>

So there won't be a ton of acceptances, but *someone's* got to get in. Those someones could very well be you all. There's just no way of knowing until the acceptances actually go out.

It's been a long, drawn out waiting period for a lot of you. Don't lose hope now! You will definitively know, one way or another, in just a few more days. 🙂

According to last year's VCU thread, there were few acceptances in March. Most were waitlists (no rejections at all). But I think about 75% of OOSers got in from the waitlist, mostly in May. I really hoped that this would be the case this year but since they drastically increased the number of interview slots, it's extremely unlikely...

On March 22 the number of total acceptances offered will be 184. Assuming there's 40 offers this time and nobody has withdrawn, that means 144 offers have already been given (and one more for each withdrawl). I don't remember the numbers from the previous offer dates, but I don't think they added up to 144+ 😕

I agree, the math doesn't seem to add up. I remember something like 20 going out in October, 40 in December and 20 in early February. So, shouldn't there be something like 80+ offers coming (even assuming that none of those acceptances withdrew already)?

I just have to say after looking at a few pages of this thread: VCU's process is f'ed up. What a frickin' roller coaster ride whereby instead of just one deadline to get anxious over--you guys have 4! I hope you all get in--especially Shy, Tacrum and jbone!

ShyRem said:
I agree. Anyone brave enough to call and ask?

I'll call tommorrow.

I have a separate question on FAFSA etc. Is there anything else we need to do right now (not having an acceptance) other than have FAFSA notify VCU of our numbers?? Do we need to contact their financial aid office to fill out any forms???

Good luck to all of you guys, but if there were so many acceptance already, how come I don't see any class thread for VCU 2010? Are they all laying low?

Also I think the # doesn't really add up for VCU acceptance because of their guaranteed program, which hold around 20 seats or so. However, most of them won't give it up until they are sure that they got in somewhere else. Hence the waiting game. So I think that there will be quite a few seats in the end that will be up for grab by you guys. Good luck to all! I been stalking the forum for long enough to know that you guys deserved to get in. 👍

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I even tried to start a thread like that and got only 2 responses from accepted applicants... the thread has since been banished to the bottom. I think they must be hiding, or they accepted all the non-SDNers early! Hahaha.

Hm, maybe they are paying them to keep quiet. 😉

I so hope that 75% "rule" continues this year. Things are looking bleak for the March offers.

I hope all of us SDNers get an acceptance

gd, I love ya baby! With the kind of success you are having this app period, you comments can only help. 😍 👍

I must say I am sad right now. I just got back from hitting the sweet slopes of Alta. I must tell you, I have been skiing all around the world and nothing compares to skiing in Utah. "Greatest Snow on Earth" It looks like I'll either be going to school in Virginia or Iowa. Neither one has great acclaim to fantastic skiing. With my knee surgery next week, this may have been the last time for me to ski for the next ten years. 🙁 Fall is coming quicker than we know it. Scary isn't it. Anyway, screw this whole process that make us wait and wait and wait.
(BTW, it you have a bad knee that requires surgery, you probably shouldn't go skiing moguls/jump on it 🙁 :scared: )

Sorry, my posts don't ever make any sense. Sorry. 😎

Hey jbone,

I'm more of a warm, clear water, pretending you're not human type of hobbyist. Yeah, it's not quite as hard on the joints as skiing. Of course, this blows when some gringo kicks your mask off at 80 feet below the surface (ARGH!!).

But, that hobby is probably one I won't get to do for AT LEAST 6 more years (OK, realistically, more like 10!!). Going to school in PA or VA pretty much means if I want to do that, it'll be in cold, murky waters with nothing fun to look at.

Hey, VA is not so bad for skiing-- drive west! OK, far west, but 3-4 hours is not that bad. Just make sure you book down that slope if you hear, "boy, you gotta perty mouth." (ducks backlash from SDNers-- hey man, I can make fun of my own peeps!)

Hey, didn't jbone play that guy in Deliverance!? You know the one.

Actually jbone, I feel for you. Hope the leg heals up well after the surgery. I'm sure it will.

The one who likes it when boys squeal, or the one with the "perty mouth?"
😀

(now Dueling Banjos is playing in the back of my mind... boy this VCU waiting thing is messing with my brain!!)

Perty mouth. When he auditioned for the part, that was the scene they had him do. He was hired instantly! The director kept saying stuff like "I've never seen that kind of enthusiasm in my entire career!". lol

You always have to wonder about guys who wear "britches" with elastic wasitbands (AKA- quick to drop 'em).

And you really have to worry about guys in the above group who forego the underwear. I guess they never were the ones bullied in elementary school... you kind of develop your own personal armor (belts, zippers, buttons, plates of steel bolted to your skin). No, not speaking from experience other than observation. No, really. Seriously. Hey, I hung out with people who would never do that! Self-protection.

I'm w/ ya here FDoRoML. I've been scuba diving all over the world. Hawaii, Jamaica, Thailand, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Moterey, and the Great Salt Lake etc. (jk about the last one)
I love diving...just another one of my "hobbies"
We'll get along just fine 👍

BTW, cf does have a perty little mouth.

I hope your surgery goes well, jbone. Hopefully you'll be getting some good news from VCU next week. That should help speed up the healing, and ease the pain. 🙂

So I was just checking the VCU status website to read the message again, and I decided to login just to see if anything had changed, and I noticed that the "Withdraw app" button was gone. Not that I was planning on using it, but it made me wonder if there's any significance to this.

Is everybody's like this? Is it just mine? Anybody care to speculate what this could possibly mean? I'm overdosing on paranoia here.

Mine too

I like to think it is good news, but I don't think it means anything at all

It probably doesn't mean anything, but I can think of three possible theories of meaning, each one more unlikely than the next 🙂:

1. They want to hold the number of places constant between now, and when the decisions go out/ the waitlist is formed (i.e. no currently accepted people can withdraw right now, and neither can anyone else).
2. We can't withdraw now because we're already rejected. 🙁
3. We've already been accepted, and they don't want the number of open spots moving around until after the waitlist is formed. 😍 (yeah...right...)

Can someone else check their status please? This is weird. I'll be happy if everyone is missing the withdraw button.

I still have a withdraw button. How strange!

Apparition, I think the withdraw is missing from mine, Tacrum's, and ShyRem's status page.

No withdrawl button here
