Hang in there, all you kits and kats. Even if the good news doesn't come next week, there's still the waitlist!
You mean the one I"ve been on since mid-october?madi said:Hang in there, all you kits and kats. Even if the good news doesn't come next week, there's still the waitlist!

The Admissions Committee met yesterday but was unable to complete discussions on all candidates interviewed. It will be next week before we are able to complete the discussions. Consequently, the final offers for the last 40 seats in the class will not be made until after next weeks meeting. Those of you who are waiting to hear should expect that we will complete the work on Wednesday March 22nd.

Awww... back up to 8 days![]()
tacrum43 said:How are there only 40 seats? With how few they gave out before, it seems like there should be more than that. 😕
ShyRem said:Don't say that.
FDoRoML said:We all share the same frustration. The few who were accepted probably hit the road away from this thread a long time ago!!![]()
It's a shame we're back up to slightly over 1 week again... I was feeling happy about seeing that number get ever closer to 0. So, back up to 8 plus the 40-seat thing as an added annoyance, and I'm ready to go take a vacation and just try and forget about it for a while. (yeah, good luck with that)
I am also confused by the 40-seat thing... are they accepting fewer than they thought they would, banking on moving more from the waitlist? Was there a group of people who are coming in after deferral (OK, not likely, but I still had to say it)? I know a lot of schools accept about 40-50% more than they have seats for b/c there are always a certain number who turn them down... but I guess torturing those of us on the waitlist and keeping us on baited breath makes it easier on VCU's adrenals. <sigh>
Em1 said:On March 22 the number of total acceptances offered will be 184. Assuming there's 40 offers this time and nobody has withdrawn, that means 144 offers have already been given (and one more for each withdrawl). I don't remember the numbers from the previous offer dates, but I don't think they added up to 144+ 😕

DrHopeless said:Good luck to all of you guys, but if there were so many acceptance already, how come I don't see any class thread for VCU 2010? Are they all laying low?
gdbaby said:I just have to say after looking at a few pages of this thread: VCU's process is f'ed up. What a frickin' roller coaster ride whereby instead of just one deadline to get anxious over--you guys have 4! I hope you all get in--especially Shy, Tacrum and jbone!
Apparition said:According to last year's VCU thread, there were few acceptances in March. Most were waitlists (no rejections at all). But I think about 75% of OOSers got in from the waitlist, mostly in May. I really hoped that this would be the case this year but since they drastically increased the number of interview slots, it's extremely unlikely...
gd, I love ya baby! With the kind of success you are having this app period, you comments can only help. 😍 👍gdbaby said:I just have to say after looking at a few pages of this thread: VCU's process is f'ed up. FDoRoML said:Hey jbone,
I'm more of a warm, clear water, pretending you're not human type of hobbyist. Yeah, it's not quite as hard on the joints as skiing. Of course, this blows when some gringo kicks your mask off at 80 feet below the surface (ARGH!!).
But, that hobby is probably one I won't get to do for AT LEAST 6 more years (OK, realistically, more like 10!!). Going to school in PA or VA pretty much means if I want to do that, it'll be in cold, murky waters with nothing fun to look at.
Hey, VA is not so bad for skiing-- drive west! OK, far west, but 3-4 hours is not that bad. Just make sure you book down that slope if you hear, "boy, you gotta perty mouth." (ducks backlash from SDNers-- hey man, I can make fun of my own peeps!)
cfdavid said:Hey, didn't jbone play that guy in Deliverance!? You know the one.![]()
FDoRoML said:The one who likes it when boys squeal, or the one with the "perty mouth?"
😀
(now Dueling Banjos is playing in the back of my mind... boy this VCU waiting thing is messing with my brain!!)
cfdavid said:Perty mouth. When he auditioned for the part, that was the scene they had him do. He was hired instantly! The director kept saying stuff like "I've never seen that kind of enthusiasm in my entire career!". lol
I'm w/ ya here FDoRoML. I've been scuba diving all over the world. Hawaii, Jamaica, Thailand, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Moterey, and the Great Salt Lake etc.FDoRoML said:Hey jbone,

blee said:I still have a withdraw button. How strange!
tacrum43 said:It probably doesn't mean anything, but I can think of three possible theories of meaning, each one more unlikely than the next 🙂:
1. They want to hold the number of places constant between now, and when the decisions go out/ the waitlist is formed (i.e. no currently accepted people can withdraw right now, and neither can anyone else).
2. We can't withdraw now because we're already rejected. 🙁
3. We've already been accepted, and they don't want the number of open spots moving around until after the waitlist is formed. 😍 (yeah...right...)
