I am OOS-
I only found out because I was asking about something else and they just told me that they changed my status to accept and I should get the offical status change tonight when the system updates
SO hopefully a bunch of you will find out some good news tonight!!!

Hey Tanget,
I'm also extremely neurotic. I'm OOS also and on the wait list. Would you mind telling me what your numbers were. I totally understand if you don't want to. Thanks!

congrats, tangent! but shame on you for giving us all a false sense of hope for this evening, i mean i had some important things to take care of, and now i'm certainly not going to be able to, haha. ehh, i'm IS anyways so i'm gonna be waiting longer most likely. if any other IS'ers do happen to get in, please let us know. also, tangent...you mentioned not long ago that Dr. H gave you info on where you stood on the waitlist, i'm just curious as to how you worded your e-mail to her? i'm just not sure about how to go about it. good luck ya'll.

At 7:02, that's probably when their system updates. Watch out refresh button!!

Well I have had updates from them at 4:16, 5:00 and 7:02. However, seeing as it is currently 6:05, 7:02 does seem likely. 😛

Now I'm obsessed you guys, I can't focus on anything!

Relax 🙂 It's probably going to be like 3-4 acceptances at most, out of like 300. OK, back to refreshing.

hey, did anyone got off the waitlist today??? if yes were u out of state or in-state??
Does anyone know what time they updated thier sytem.

Well, no status change for me. Yet. Anybody else get one besides Tangent?

no change for me :-( tacrum, are you IS?

Tangent said:
Hey all- just got in off the waitlist!!
good luck to everyone- system should update tonight

In all seriousness, Congrats to you and thanks for distracting me from studying for my Immunology final that's tomorrow-I needed the break 🙂

No change for me, but I'm IS, so I'm not too surprised.

Nope, I'm very much out of state. I'm not sure if that's better or worse at this point. Definitely worse when it comes time to pay tuition. 😛

edit: That should probably read "if it comes time to pay tuition". Still a long way away from that.

I didn't even bother to check. I figure it's not like they'll be giving out BUNCHES of acceptances any day until probably May 15-May 30. My gmail notifier will go blue if anything great happens. I just obsess over watching that stupid envelope now. 😛

*sigh*

No change for me either 🙁

The Gmail notifier is a beautiful thing.

amen to the g-mail notifier! except for the fact i almost have a heart attack every time i get a freakin' email. let's hope this wait ends soon.

also...anyone who has contacted Dr. H and got a response, particularly a more specific response as to their position on the wait list, how did you all word your e-mails? just curious because i really want to contact her, just not sure about how to go about getting info out of her. thanks.

No acceptances for me either...I guess I still have to keep trying to get good grades. 😛

Hey all,

So I have been lurking on this site since the last batch of acceptances were sent out, but I never posted (superstition thing). I thought I finally would today to let you know that I got in last night (OOS)!! I got an email from Dr. H first saying to check the status page when they update it--which they did around 6pm, for those who are interested. Anyways, just wanted to say good luck to everyone else--the list IS moving and I think it will move a lot more soon. I was really surprised to get in before May 15, so that should give you all hope that the list will move quickly. Hopefully I'll meet a bunch of you guys this fall. Good luck

Congratulations, hopingfor2! Here's hoping we can join you at VCU next year 🙂

So if the list is ranked on a formula, why does it matter if we are accepted somwhere else or not? anyone have any ideas?

page 3! had to rescue the thread.

Are they going to be updating every wed. night from now on?

Well guys and gals, I have reached my personal deadline. I emailed Dr. H and got word that she thinks early to mid summer I will get in, but, I can't wait that out. I have to do what's best for my family, too, so it didn't make sense to be on the waitlist after May 15th (when they call and offer an acceptance, you need to answer immediately most times, or at least within a day-- not enough time for hubby to guarantee a job!).

Soooooo, I am going the way of jbone... fading out before I see page 100. 🙁

But good news for you guys-- there's yet another OOS acceptance up for grabs and a bunch of you have moved up the waitlist one spot. Best of luck to everyone and I'll check back every now and then to see how things go for you.

Thanks for the info FDoRoML, and good luck to you and yor family. :luck:

I'm so sorry to hear that you're leaving us, FD!

Best of luck to you at Penn State, and all my best wishes for your career as a physician. It was great having you on the board.

Thanks Madi and Wait-tastic! It's been so much fun reading and posting to this thread. I bet the VCU class next year is going to be super-tight and very cool to one another. It's a team effort, for sure. 🙂

Best of luck to you guys, too. You'll all make awesome physicians. 👍

I'll miss everyone here, and those who have already left. Maybe we'll cross paths in the allo and clinical forum threads in the coming years. 😀

Congrats on making the decision FDoRoML (i'm on both PSU and VCU waitlists so no ulterior motive here 🙂 ) Good luck at Penn State!

Thanks, Shy and Apparition. And best of luck to both of you.

Hey, Apparition-- has PSU been good about communications with you regarding your waitlist status? I've heard they aren't always too nice, depending on who you talk to. If you haven't had any luck, have you tried to email Dean Davis? He was a non-nonsense but very nice and loving his job in admissions type person (not unlike Dr. H!)...

Oh, FD, you're out too! The veterans of VCU Central are slowly dissappearing. Good luck with Penn State, I have a couple of friends who are going to be in your class.

ShyRem, are you leaving as well??

Hey Inverted!

Yeah, once CF and Jason left, I figured it was time for me to go (it would never be the same...).

Tell your friends to be on the watch for me (they from Utah, too?). I'm sure PSU will be a great experience, so I don't regret having to choose it over VCU (except for losing the possibility of everyone here in my class). It will be nice to be able to change my pace and go house-hunting now.

Best of luck to you. I'll send major good vibes towards everyone on here so that you get offers soon. Nothing worse than the wait, especially when you are dragging along a family. VCU is totally worth the wait, though.

😍

Miss ya already. Good luck with Pen. State and keep in touch with me via PM. 🙁 😉

Way to go VCU...lost another fantastic student. 👍 👎
Folks, I hope you get news quick. This is freakin ridiculous.

BTW, the 100 page thing probably won't happen now that the blabber mouths (jbone, CF, now FD) have now gone.
I had a dream..... 🙁

Ye of little faith, jbone!

Pewl and I will carry it on to 100!!

Hey guys,

I have been following the thread for a few weeks or so but really didnt have anything to add till now. I am in-state and on the waiting list.

I recently met w/ Dr. H and found out some useful info. Thus far there has been movement on both the instate and the out of state lists but very little. She did recently check the overlaps between schools and found out that of those already accepted to VCU, 40 have been accepted elsewhere. This does not include those people who are waitlisted at other schools and may get in. 🙂

She reiterated that this year the applicants were much more competitive so, many at the top of the waiting list would have gotten in last year no problem 😡

When I e-mailed her she was very clear about where I was on the waiting list and even more so in person. I figure though, that she will be kinda ambiguous if you are in the middle of the list.

I hope so my friend...I hope so.

Also I am from Richmond so if you have gotten in and need to know where to live, I can help you with that.

.

Does this mean that people at the top of the waitlist would've gotten a straight acceptance or that less people will get off the alternate list than last year?
Thanks for the info btw.

Figure I'll just keep posting to bring it to 100.

I am also doing the post-bac program at VCU so if you guys are thinking about it I can really give you the scoop on which of the 6 programs will help you most, which classes to take, which are hard etc

Just let me know

She told me, directly, that the people at the top of the waiting list, with their scores, would have been accepted w/o going onto the waiting list last year. I am pretty sure, they have not taken any scores higher than a 1.5 (1 being the best).

Dr H did not give me any indication that she thought there would be fewer people taken off the waiting list this year. That being said, I figure that if there is more competition, there will be less overlaps between schools and less movement.

Hope that helps

On the other hand, if people had better applications, they would probably have more choices and the list would move.

Thanks for the info. When I emailed her, she said she couldn't give me a guesstimate and to try back at the end of May if I hadn't heard anything. Your info helps me fully accept that I'm at the bottom of the list-oh well. 🙂

It sounds to me like you are in the gray area where she cant tell yet. She is trying as hard as she can to tell everyone where they are, but at the same time, she can't tell exactly how the list will move.

Last year she told a friend of mine that she would not get off of the waiting list. The girl got in in july. The movement changes year to year so Dr H is playing it safe.

Dr H would give you the heads up if you were at the bottom of the list. So you are probably not.

I am a fellow in-state waiter like yourself, and hoping for the best. Thank you so much for contributing your information!

Damn! Now, I have hope again!! Just kidding 😀 Thanks for the perspective, hadn't thought about it that way.
