DO LORs should be sent to your graduating school so the pre-med committee can send them out with their letter as well, right?

Maybe. Ask your premed committee if they will send your other LOR's in the packet with your committee letter. If not, you can use interfolio to send schools your DO LOR separately.

Good Luck :luck:

Yeah, once they list it as received they have processed it. Now you just have to wait for all of your transcripts to be received and then in a couple of weeks you will be verified and processed. After that it takes another week or so for AACOMAS to mail out your application to schools.

Waiting sucks, I know. 🙁

Good Luck! :luck:

ahhh! thanks. the waiting absolutely sucks. i find myself checking my status page at least 5 times a day. its driving me nuts!!

And the mailing date said 7/26. Is that it then? Or is the "processed" supposed to turn into "mailed"?

I just noticed this from the AACOMAS instructions:

Freshman 0 - 32 credit hours
Sophomore 31 - 64 credit hours
Junior 61 - 96 credit hours
Senior 91 - to completion

does that scale seem off to any body? If you have 31 credits, are you a sophomore or freshman? If you have 63, are you a sophomore or junior and so on and so forth...

Should I just choose the lower of the two and have AACOMAS correct it if they need to? Hope that doesn't end up delaying my app...

Hey guys,

So I decided to apply with my 28, and my lousy 3.3 GPA. I was going to wait until next year to improve my stats with further classes but decided against it.

I'm still going to take science classes and update schools if need be but I have a little dilemma...I listed the future classes on the AACOMAS at my alma mater but I now think I'm going to take them at a local state school because they're cheaper since I already graduated. Is this going to cause delays with processing? Should I call them?

You're all set! Congrats! Your application has been mailed to schools and you should be receiving recondaries soon!

Yeah, it is kind of weird. I always thought it was 0-30 freshman, 30-60 sophomore, 60-90 Junior and 90+ senior. AACOMAS corrected mine and it didn't take them very long to process my application (about 6 days and this was back in June).

Good Luck :luck:

I would definitely call them or email them. :luck:

BTW, your stats are NOT lousy . . . better then mine! 😀

Anyone else having problems entering their ps on aacomas?

It says my character count is 4493, but when I try to save it it still gives me an error in red letters saying "The Personal Statement must be between 100 and 4500 characters in length, including spaces."

I already typed it in from scratch 2 times and have tried simply copy and pasting it, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Haha thanks, but with all these glowing numbers on SDN I feel like I'm in the riff-raff down below.

Argh, I'm gonna have to call them on Monday. Also this SS# problem is an issue. I reported my MCAT last week and it's not yet showing up on the AACOMAS site. I think it's because my SSN is not on my ThX report.
Someone up above said you have to make a copy of your SS card and license and send it to the MCAT address...Oh and someone also mentioned you have to go to a public notary, or is sending copies enough?

Try opening it as a text file in Text (mac) or MSText (pc) and changing the size of the window - you may notice a few hidden carriage-returns, and there are hidden field codes in Word (default font etc.) that might be bumping your character count.🙂

I found out my problem.

Don't use mozilla firefox to type in your ps!! I retyped in my ps using internet explorer and found out that I was over by a couple characters (which really sucks because using MS word's count I have less than 4460 and using firefox I had a little under 4500). I think my problem was because certain programs count the extra paragraphs (hitting enter twice) differently. I suppose internet explorer matches aacomas' parameters more exactly.

Hi everyone,

I voided the MCAT back in January. So, I was wondering if I put that on the MCAT information section on my AACOMAS application. Thank you!😀

If you want to be sure, I would check the THX reporting system. If it says the date then void (or something) I would include it. If it only has your first score, I would not.

For those of you that have already submitted your primary application to AACOMAS, what was the average amount of time it took for them to process the application and then mail it to your designated schools? Thanks in advance

If you go to the AACOMAS verification thread, you will be able to find all the information that you want.

Mine was around 1 month! their GPA calculation took forever! it's probably because I had a transcript mishap

mine was verified and sent in 16 days!!! although I had every transcript in before I submitted. . . do that and you'll shoot to the top of the list in no time. Also it may help to send them a envelope filled with dead presidents

mine was verified and mailed out in 12 days! But I applied the first day AACOMAS opened and it was much faster back then.

I submitted on 7/10 and mine was just verified/mailed on 7/26.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the input. I submitted 7/19, just patiently 😕 waiting for verification. Thanks again

At one college I took Earth Science (GLY1001) and failed. Now I want to retake the class but it is at a different school and is called Earth Science (ESC1000). Will AACOMAS still forgive the second grade even though they have different codes?

Thanks

Yes. I had the same issue on a bunch of retakes. Just make sure to mark it a retake 01 for both (if that's your only retake). The last class should be marked a last retake 01.

Ok...I know from the title this thread may seem redundant. But here's the situation.

My work experience is 13 years as a firefighter/paramedic. I know this will be covered under the 'work exp' section...but curious to get some opinions as to whether or not it may also be appropriately placed under EC's.

The thought process behind this is the ideal that the job involves an enormous amount of public/community service.

Aside from the 10 patients I see every shift in the ambulance: teaching CPR in the schools and to the public, fire prevention to the elderly and at the K-3rd grade level, teaching newbies EMS in their EMT and IV Tech classes, the list goes on and on.

OK...EC's...not EC's...opinions?

The "Work" section allows you to list the number of hours you've committed to your job and a section to describe the various duties involved. If your fire/paramedic work was a paid position, it should be in the "work" section and I don't believe its necessary to repeat the same exact info in another part of the app. If you don't have a lot of other EC's b/c most of your time was devoted to your job, the adcom will see how many hours you worked. If any of those outreach programs you mentioned were separate from work, I think you can place them in the EC section. If you really want to draw attention to your experience as a firefighter/medic, I'd recommend submitting a resume along with your secondary.

hey guys, i have already apply to 6 schools, but now i want to expand to more school, anyone know how to do this?

I'm planning on applying to both MD and DO schools. I just mailed in my transcript to AAMC a few days ago for verification. I was wondering if I'm suppose to send another separate transcript to AACOMAS as well, or whether AAMC gives the information to AACOMAS?

Thanks

How/when do we do this? I'm taking the MCAT on the 9th.
Thanks.

The AAMC THx system (where your MCAT scores are logged) has a selection you can choose and your scores are automatically forwarded to AACOMAS.

Thanks. Do we assign AACOMAS after the score is released or can we select AACOMAS before?

Hey guys,
So I got a message from AACOMAS this morning that one of my transcripts has not been received, though I know all 5 were received back in early july. It looks like 1 of them was recorded differently then I reported it on the AACOMAS. Has anyone ran into this problem before? If I call them do you think they will realize the error? Thanks!

You'd want to make sure your scores show up in the AAMC Thx system before requesting that they be forwarded. Cheers. 👍

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing Rikkye. Anyone have any feedback on this??

It's easy . . . . just go back to your application and select the additional schools you want to apply to. After you pay for the additional schools, AACOMAS will mail out your application to the new schools in about a week. 😀

Better yet, I've been advised by Adcoms at TOURO-NV and TOURO-CA to fax them a printout of my score report instead of waiting for AACOMAS to send it. They said that AACOMAS can take up to 3 weeks to send out new MCAT scores. 😱

Good Luck :luck:

is it electronically or really mailed through the post office LOL. Thanks

I did a search and couldn't come up with the answer. How do you list AP classes in the coursework section? It doesn't allow me to list that it was taken during high school.

Thanks for any help

I don't think AP classes count unless they are through a college or something.

I actually just spoke with AACOMAS about this because I had to update my MCAT scores. They do both -- electronic and regular post. The electronic can take up to a week and mail up to three weeks.

Hope this helps.

I'm not intending for them to count for my prerequisites. I just need to list them because they are on my transcript.

himm. I have no clue then. Maybe you list it as an undergrad course. Maybe it has a special designation.

Hi, i was just about to have my transcript send to AACOMAS from my University but wanted to make sure I could have it requested without having submitted my AACOMAS application yet. Is this possible, or do i need to finish the application , submit it, and then request transcripts so they have me "in" the system and will be able to easily put my trasncript with my app.

thank you

aacomas got my transcripts on June 25th of this year, i didn't submit my final application till the 18th of July. i think you are fine.

AACOMAS received my transcripts on June 14 and I just submitted August 4. Plus on some of my transcripts it had my maiden name not married name and they had no problem matching them up with my account. Go ahead and have it sent so that there won't be a hold up after you submit.
