MSUCOM secondary: I found this online, and confirmed it with someone who has received the secondary.

for now i am working on my secondary essays (secondaries all filled out) for DCOM, LECOM-B and UMDNJ.
Do these schools not send out secondary requests, or are you just doing this to be proactive?
Plus my MCAT on 7/06
The only thing I can recommend, is find something to keep you busy all day on the 6th. Otherwise, the urge to check the AAMC website every 15 minutes gets to be overwhelming. Good Luck! I'm sure you'll do fine.
Just got MSUCOM and UNECOM today. Looks like no bbq for me on the 4th 🙁
What are the essays for UNECOM?
So.......
Which DO schools *actually* have their secondaries out now?

Got the UNECOM secondary today. Whats with the essays ! 😱 I have no affiliation with a physician from UNECOM, nor do I know any current medical students there. I am not from the New England area but I have a desire to practice rural (wherever that may be). After I saw their essays, Im thinking about saving my 55$. What is the ratio from NewEnglanders to the rest of the US?
Nope...they have all the stuff available now and their webs say you can send it out right after you are done with AACOMAS. I emailed Dr.Leo at DCOM and he specifically told me that we can fill out DCOM secondary before we are even verified with AACOMAS. So why would i wait for the invite that will never come in the mail and then have a very hard back to reality in like december...Do these schools not send out secondary requests, or are you just doing this to be proactive?
.
it is all on the school's website...so i am just doing my homework and following instructions 😀
The UNECOM secondary wants me to list all medical schools, both osteopathic and allopathic that I am applying to. I am applying to about 22 allopathic and 7 osteopathic schools. I'm worried about it looking bad if I list all these allopathic schools. Should I list them all? and is there anyway they can find out if I don't list all of them? Thanks.

Don't lie! People apply to both Oste and Allo simultaneously all the time, and are accepted to both. Just tell the truth.
Be prepared to answer why you applied to both though, because it's a fair question for an interviewer to ask.

if i could only write this thing in Polish it would be so perfect..... and done like 3 weeks ago

this whole talk made me acctually start on my secondary essays...

Is this in addition to last year's questions?

I was asked the same thing about listing all schools when I applied. I did -- and I think I may have been asked why I applied to both. I said I wanted to be a physician, and a good one. I chose schools to apply to that would suit my husband, my children, and appeared to suit my own learning style. I was looking for the best all around fit for my family and myself; I also said the initials don't make a good doctor. The person does. Just don't lie.
Regarding knowing people from UNE: I said I knew a student before they went to UNE but hadn't spoken to her since she attended. I also said I had some anonymous contact through a pre-med student website. No questions asked.
As to whether you should apply if you're from outside New England: I'm from Colorado. We have folks from all over the country (and the world) in my class and in the class before mine. The only reason there are more folks from New England accepted is that proportionally more folks from New England apply. If you don't apply, the answer will surely be NO.
One thing I learned from my interview is UNE is looking for integrity and honesty. My interviewer basically told me he was testing whether my character fit my LOR descriptions. Good thing I passed since I had no idea what my LOR writers said about me (my interviewer told me what they said tho).
bottom line: if you want to go to UNE, you have to apply. Doesn't matter where you're from or if you have no idea who anyone at UNE is. Don't lie. Be yourself. And good luck.

Isn't there a polish to english translation service available online, or maybe even somewhere near where you live? It may be worth the few bucks it costs by saving you the time.

if you know other languages you also probobly know that nothing sounds right when translated directly using a dictionary or any translation service🙄😉
like books for instance...i read Qvo Vadis in polisn and english and the original was soooooooo much better...same with poetry...it's pretty much "untranslatable"...it looses the feel, rythm and flow.
for me writing in english just takes a little longer....since i need to double check everything and edit stuff like milion times to make sure it is expressed exactly how i want it...maybe that is also the prefectionist thing

For the UNECOM secondary, when they talk about reflecting on the type of doc you want to be, are they talking about "what field, i.e. radiology" or are they refering to your character.
depends on how you want to take that one. Either view could be appropriate.
Folks, there are no "right" or "wrong" answers unless you lie. Answer the questions as YOU. Not as anyone else. Just answer to the best of your ability.

So can we send in more than the required amount of LOR's.... ?
DMU was pretty specific in their e-mail about how many LOR's and who they'd accept them from (no dentists, coaches, etc) The other ones I've read didn't seem to specify the maximum, just the minimum amount of letters necessary.
How's everyone doing with their secondary essays????
hey did anyone of you guys got the Nova email about financial aid...i thought it was really odd for them to contact me about financing my medical education and prompt me to apply for FAFSA😕
i never got their secondary either😕😕
Yes, I thought it a bit odd. WHERES MY SECONDARY ?

Hey Dr. Kicia, are you using your CC professor LOR ? I knew earlier you had posted about it. I am using mine because I KNOW it will be an excellent letter or rec, but Im a little unsure on how the COMs will view it. However, I doubt that it will be a decisive factor upon consideration for an acceptance. 😎

Did you get the invite from UMDNJ, or are you just going to send it in? I think I might just send mine in this Monday after I finish it...
Also, has DMU come out, or are we just talking about them having no essays?
DMU e-mailed me today with a secondary link and there were no essays on the secondary. I'm assuming the other poster also got this e-mail.
yep no essays for DMU...i already send in mine plus 2 LORs thru interfolio...still waiting on my DO LOR and then i am ready to rock and roll...though it may be more of a roll tomorow at 5pm EST![]()
Thanks for the heads up🙂 Dr.Kicia you are on a roll!

It became available on their school website about 2 weeks ago I think.

So you didn't get an email or anything, you just went on their website and filled it out? That's kinda weird...any other schools like that?
YEA!! First rejection!! 🙁 Guess I'm not going to DMU. Oh well, life goes on.
I also got the e-mail from Nova about financial aid, I hope that means that they're gonna send me a secondary!
PCOM is off.
Nate.
