Are you guys cutting and pasting into AACOMAS? Some people had problems with this and the trick was to cut and past into "notepad" I guess to remove source formatting and then cutting and pasting from notepad into AACOMAS. Wish AACOMAS would fix this problem of cutting and pasting.

Okay well, that trick didn't work for me, either!! Rgh!

You just got to fiddle with it.

You may need to shave off a couple more characters.

I've been fiddling for 2 hours!! LOL!! I cut out the last word and it worked. Then I tried to fix it so that I could KEEP the last word and haven't solved the puzzle yet... Maybe I'll leave one space between a few sentences or something. 😕

Sorry about that, Ortho. Sounds like you are well on your way to solving the puzzle. :luck:

Howdy All!
I'm entering my coursework from my undergrad ('93-'97) and I came across these instructions on the AACOMAS website:

Year: Enter the academic year in which you took each course. The academic year is defined as beginning with the summer session and includes the following fall and spring terms. For example, a course taken during the spring of 1998 should be entered as 1997 because it is part of the 1997-1998 academic school year.

Now, I understand what they mean, and I've been doing this, however, as such, it would appear as though my last class taken was in 1996 😕 (school year of 96-97), when I graduated in 1997. Can someone confirm that this is correct? Thanks.

Edit: Also, if I took Chemistry in 1995 (Repeat #4) which included a lab, but retook chemistry in 2004 as Lecture and separate Lab, do I list BOTH as Last Repeats #4? Thanks

cheers.

Thanks, though! The editor in me just can't stand the way it looks, and it is annoying that Word says I am well under the 4,500 limit but their program is making me take out spaces & make it look weird! Oh well. I wouldn't want to go to a school that kept me out for that!!! 😉

Sorry if this was asked before........

I've received credits but not grades for my internships. They are listed on my trascript as COOP 201 "Co-op Experience" DCU 12 credits. "DCU" means "Pass", I guess. Should they be listed as courses under Coursework?

I see the conversion for quarters to semester, but how do I work around trimesters to semesters---does anyone have the conversion??? Thanks 🙂

nevermind they are same 😎

When you submit you AACOMAS...can you add more schools and pay via credit card, or can you only submit more my mail? Thanks.

You can add more schools after you submitted. Pay by credit card and it is taken care of.

Let me know when you're verified. I had problems with their conversions between quarters/trimesters to semesters. They undercut my semester hours.

I let you know, being undercut on my quarter hours might hurt. I have a 4.0 solid during that time, but a crap GPA during my semester hours for graduate work. So I hope we don't get screwed :scared:

For your ECs and activities...did you list total hours for all your activities? I have done a lot of ECs for the course of a few years, but I never kept track of the total hours. I have a rough estimate of what I did per week, but for total hours, I might be lost lol.

I estimated when I didn't know for sure, and tried to clarify it a bit more in the description.

Oh nice, I might end up doing that. I wish I was more organized in undergrad....

I'm asking because I believe they made a mistake. The instructions give a certain conversion factor and when verified, it changed it to be exactly like the AMCAS. Very weird and the number of semester hours do not add up per year. I've written AACOMAS already. I'll call in on Monday.

I have yet to submit my AACOMAS so I will let you know the deal as soon as everything is calculated.

Speaking of calclulations...will a seperate GPA appear for my graduate and undergraduate science work, or are they combined? Thanks.

Have schools started downloading primary apps off of aacomas yet? I still havent completed my application and feel as if im behind.

lol thanks.
But yea if anyone knows, let me know

I think the first batch is downloaded the first week of July. Trust me you are not behind in the process, try to get it in before the end of the month. Good luck!

Where does unpaid research experience go...work experience or activities? Also, I've worked in two difference research labs, should I list them together or separately?

Finally, for one of the research labs, I took it as a research class in the summer, then I continued taking it for additional credit in the fall. Should I still list it as an activity?

Thanks much. 🙂

A nice little chart will be compiled that calculates all undergrad, grad, and total coursework by science, non-science and total GPAs.

When you enter the dates, they will automatically be placed in chronological order.

My activities are not automatically being placed in chronological order.

Thanks :ahem: boner 🙄 By any chance did you watch growing pains lol.

so i'm technologically incompetent so i hope i'm doing this right...

i had a question about the MCAT on the application. I took it last August (2005) and reported those scores but i'm taking it again this August so do i need to indicate that even though it says to not put the date of an test not taken? what i don't understand is that there's a "planned" option.

Thanks for the help! This is my first post but I like this thing!! lots of helpful stuff 🙂 🙂

concerning transcripts - are you able to see whether your transcripts are received before you submit the application? If not how long did it take for your transcript to be entered?

you don't have to submit the application in order to see whether your transcripts have been received. transcripts are entered on the site at least in my experience within 3-5 days after they received it, for example it was just posted on 06-12-06 that one of my transcripts was received when it was received on 06-08-06.

Your transcripts will show up with a date received in the transcript status menu. The date next to the transcript button reflects the most recent receipt date. And yes, they will be updated even before you submit.

Did most people already submit their appl.? I'm still working on mine; I guess I've been procastinating and waiting for the MCAT results as well. I also haven't requested for my transcripts yet....should I panic?

Im still waiting on the April scores. Do yourself a favor and request the transcripts now, if will save you a couple weeks of lag time.

Before I submitted mine I ran it through spell check, and they spelled "osteopathic" wrong a few times on their own application.

Between that, the fact that on the day it came out the essay section was about dental school, and the way the site is always crashing...this really isn't making a good impression on me, osteopathic-wise.

I just filled out the coursework section and now I read that the same year is designated for the fall and spring semesters??!
So, the spring semester of 2006 would really be written as spring, 2005 since it is of the 2005-2006 school year.
Someone please clarify once again?!!!! :meanie:

You are correct, Spring 2006 is considered 2005 because of the academic year. Pain in the rear this AACOMAS!

I called them, and they told me to just list everything as it appears in my transcript, so go figure!

Hey guys, I am new to SDN so I hope that I am posting this correctly. I have just graduated from undergrad in May and my transcripts from my school have been received by AACOMAS. However, I am taking two summer classes at a college at home and the grades won't be out for a while. I was wondering if AACOMAS will calculate my GPA and certify my application even though I am taking two summer courses this summer and haven't sent in those transcripts yet?

Hey guys, I know this has definately been asked before, but I cannot find the answer. How do I request my transcripts? Do i ask my university to send it to AACOM?? Because I can request my transcript in the mail or online, so I am just confused as to what I do. Also I need to send it to AMCAS. Anyone know?? Thanks soo much!

i acciedentally marked one academic session as COMPLETED, but its not, and now I can't change it. There is no drop down menu for completed and planned/in progress. anyone else have this problem?

you have to delete all the courses, then delete the session, and then you can open the new session, designating it planned/in progress....
that's not tedious or anything..

For jobs that I had for 2 years, but only did during the summer and during breaks, what should i put for average weekly hours? I was thinking N/A but what is the correct protocol for this?

Pre-osteopathic folks:

I am sure these questions have been asked many times. I am interested in applying for FALL 2007 for DO Schools; however, I am not ready to take the MCAT August 2006 and my August 2005 score is horrible (18Q). My GPA however is cumulative 3.70 and science 3.39. Can I submit my AACOMAS primary and indicate that I will re-take the MCAT in january 2007? Or will this be too late in the applicatoin process?

Your scores will be released one month after, so I you would be complete around mid-February. Some schools have later deadlines, so I would contact the schools you plan to apply to and ask them this. I think you should definitely be ok for some of the schools. Good luck.

Yeah, many people have submitted theirs without the April or August scores so you should be fine. Make sure you double check the deadlines though🙂

Too late. Take it in August 2006.

You have plenty of time to study---you aren't going to be any "more ready" by putting it off.
