Whoooooo!!!!!! Awesome! Great Work!!
on a random note....i think it's ludicrous that some students (thankfully i wasn't one of them) are interviewed by medical students (even more so because you only get 1 interview at vcu)....i was wondering what you guys thought about that
They are 4th year med students and are on the Adcom. Whether they interview you or not they are still making a decision on each and every one of you guys' applications. They have the same say as any of the faculty. Personally I would think it would be easier to talk with someone your own age, who has recently gone through the trials and tribulations of applying. The person who interviewed me was not even a doctor (MD or PhD) and was peripherally related to the medical school. It worked out fine.Worry less about who interviewed you and more about how the interview went.
Let's assuming the extra 40 spots are coming because 40 people declined their MCV acceptances. Since people who are OOS tend to drop off more frequently than in-staters I figure that most of the extra 40 spots will be filled by OOS applicants.
I got the "we like you, but we don't know if we'll be able to give you an interview" message yesterday. Do they just make sure everyone has this message, before sending out their rejections in mid March, or could it really mean something? Also, does anyone have an idea of how many times a week they give out invites? Apparently, they're inviting until the end of Feb, giving me 7 days of hope (actually 5 bc they can't invite on the weekend)

hey guys i swung by the admissions office today and Dr. WC confirmed they'd be giving out 80 seats in march.....when i asked her if she could give me the OOS/ in-state break down she just smiled at me haha....but anyways good news for all of us![]()
Thank you! Thank you! Good luck to everyone who wants one of those seats

To the person above, that means you scored well enough to not get a flat out rejection. I think Dr. WC said 3.5 or higher is auto reject.
elby09-
I interviewed 1/22 and received the hold notice a little more than two weeks later. Dr. WC said that it could take a couple of weeks before your file goes to committee...it depends upon the schedule of your interviewer and when they are available to present your file to the committee.

elby, i interviewed jan 18th and didn't get a hold message until feb 19th...just hang in the addcom is usually backed up, and if your interviewer can't make it to an addcom meeting for some reason your file will just be pushed over, but don't worry, it will definitely be reviewed before march 15th

i found out about 2 weeks later (post-interview) that they had discussed my file. im still really pumped about the new seats opening up. i know it doesn't really help us in-staters that much, but i can take whatever help i can get at this point!

?
Do we know if a 100% if those seats are almost all out of state?
alrighty guys, Dr. W-C just emailed me back, she hasn't gone through the list for exact number but i quote "we have about 80 seats left and a little over half of those will go to in-state students. We will have some withdrawals and that may open more seats..." so about 40ish seats for us in-staters

is this the biggest acceptance of this cycle?
is it that people havent responded or is that people have just withdrawn their acceptance'?
wow, thanks for the info guys. im in-state. recently found out i got waitlisted at both EVMS and Albany. MCV is my top choice and I would be so damn happy if I found out that I got in March 15. good luck.
I just called the admissions office and they said I have been to committee but that they haven't updated the information online yet. Just thought I'd let you all know so that others who have interviewed recently don't have to worry like I did. Man it was frustrating talking to someone who was probably looking at my score and knows whether or not I will get in but won't tell me! 16 more days!!!
i didnt get a response from her either after emailin her...Hi everybody, has anyone sent an update (ie. regarding new grades on the transcript) to Dr. W-Cook via email? I was wondering if she sends a reply. Thanks.

isn't match day for m-4's march 15th too?
i think it could help a bit only if your priority score is tied with another applicant's and dr. w-c has to go through and choose to accept which....she did say something interesting at the interview, that even if person A had a better gpa and mcat than person B (with the same priority score), but person B had better interview ranking, she'd choose person B....so i'm not sure how much it would actually help, but for sure it can't hurt you....
How many interviewees do you guys think are left in the pool that they are selecting from for march 15th? 200? 300?
I know they were planning to interview about 650 total. I wonder how many people are still under active consideration for this last batch of offers.
Any guesses?

just wanted to be clear on your question, you're asking out of how many people are the last batch of offers being picked from? like in march you'd have a x% chance of getting picked?
if it is i don't think they release those numbers, my guess is 200-300

Yea sorry my question wasn't worded well, but you got it. I know they don't publish these numbers, but I was just wondering what other people thought they might be. I feel like these last 2 weeks, I'll be thinking a lot about what kind of numbers I'm up against.
I think they have been pretty low on how many people they have chosen to accept, hence the high number of people receiving an acceptance on the 15th. Based on that, I think.... that most people are waitlisted that interviewed. And at this point, if they were going to interview 650, all or if not almost all of the 650 have been interviewed. if they've accepted ~75 w/ say 20 accepting invite, 20 declining, and 35 waiting to hear from other schools and will decide by the mandatory date. Unfortunately, everyone I know that has interviewed (ever interviewd) at VCU has either been waitlisted or rejected, so then i would assume... ~ 400 - 575 people are in this pool for 80 seats.

this is the best educated guess i could come up with, without factoring whether spots are for out of state or in state or if students were out of state or in state
30 to 40 have been offers in each batch, i think the reason that their is high number of spots left are that people declined offers. i think there have been at least more than 195 interviewees that have been rejected in the last three batches. the 195 is coming from (650 X 3/4 batches released X assuming 2/5 rejection ratio) probably 40 people declined offers to go to another university and 105 confirmed spots. so 650 - 105 - 40- 195 = 305 waiting to hear in march.
out of this 305 their will be an estimated 65 people rejected from the 4th interview batch assuming 2/5 rejection ratio. this leaves maybe 240 people either on hold at the moment, will be on hold, or will recieve an offer. if you've been on hold like me, we have at my estimate a 1 in 3 chance of getting an offer

looking back at some of the posts, it looks like people were notified about 5 or 6 o'clock on the day offers were given. anyone that's been accepted, is that the time you were notified?
yup...I don't remember exactly..but it was about 5:30 or 6. Good luck!
haha its good to see other people are stressing waiting for decisions as much as me! i'm sick of over-analyzing it all and replaying my interview in my head to look for clues. now i just started freakin out with "why havent they updated my status page since i've gone to comittee? are they going to reject me??"
ok its time for a beer...

hahaha. thats exactly how i am too. i can't take this much longer!!!
has it ever happened that someone wasn't initially rejected by the adcomm post-interview and then on the decision date they were rejected? that would really suck but is it a possibility? sorry for the negativity
