My friend called and they said they send letters if they haven't made a decision by the end of the 8 wks informing you of that fact. However, I haven't gotten that letter and it's been over a week since I hit the 8 wk mark. I'll probably call tomorrow if I don't get a call tonight and haven't gotten the letter by tomorrow afternoon.
 
8 weeks is a LONG time. 🙁 My poor fiance is waiting for me to find out so he knows whether or not he needs to start looking for a new job ... I feel so bad for him!
 
Maybe we should use the format from last year since this really gave some insight into the timings of the admissions committee. I think it also drove activity to the thread.

I feel like I'm the only one in the world who hasn't gotten a UNC secondary yet. ARGH!

This is my second round of applying too. Last year I was WL at both UNC and ECU. I called UNC today asking about my status and to see if they were particularly slower this year considering last year I submitted my AMCAS much later and had received a sec by now. The lady told me there's just a lot of apps to go through. Sigh.

I called Wake today too b/c I still had heard nothing since completing the secondary back in October. They said according to my status I'll probably be called for a last minute cancellation-interview. Fabulous. I'm currently working in DC so I have no idea how that would pan out if it did pan out.

And still no word on ECU about interview. Haven't called them yet though.

I wouldn't sweat it about UNC...
I've been complete at ECU forevaaa and still no interview!! ahhh
 
I guess I can take it as a good sign that no one else seemed to get a call from UNC yesterday either???
 
Yeah I haven't gotten a secondary from UNC either and I had interviewed by this time last year. ECU is notoriously slow. They keep interviewing well into April so don't be surprised if it takes forever before you hear back.
 
Just called the UNC admissions office and was told that they're having trouble with a computerized system that usually prepares the letters for interviewed applicants who have yet to receive notification of their status. Apparently, there will be an email later this week or early next week telling you not to worry and that you're still under consideration for admission.
 
I would prefer an e-mail with a big fat ACCEPT in it..... but thanks for the info! 😳
 
someone got admitted today at unc, its on the offical acceptences list...i need & want to know now!!!! 🙁 😡
 
Well there goes the Monday theory...
 
I'm pretty sure the commitee does meet on monday, but when you find out is dependent on when your interviewer decides to call you and maybe on how late the meeting actually goes.

I was interviewed on 10/11 and was really biting my nails as it would have been 8 weeks tomorrow and I had yet to hear from them post-interview. I was especially bummed as I was going with the 'monday call' theory. Anyhow, one of my interviewers personally called me today (which I guess they do for all accepted)...so don't give up hope!! And don't bank on the Monday call. They really can and do take up to 8 weeks to phone you, and the call may come when you are least expecting it!

Anyone have any guesses if the committee will be meeting once more before the holidays?

I know they met the week of thanksgiving. I'd bet there are a couple meetings left before the holidays. Purely speculation though . . .
 
The committee does meet on every other Monday. Whether you get the call on Monday or Tuesday depends on how quickly your interviewer calls you with the news, I think.
 
How do you people know these things? I so do not have the balls to ask someone when the committee meets.
 
Our tour guide mentioned that they met every (or every other, can't remember) monday (well he wasn't sure if it was monday or tuesday). My committee member interviewer called me on Monday night and said that the commitee had just met that day. So . . . I'm speculating they generally meet on Mondays. As for the before christmas speculation, if they meet the week of thanksgiving, I'd bet that they'll probably meet the week or two before christmas. Again . . . like everything anyone writes here, its simply speculation . . . like the above poster, I also would never have the balls to ask this (though I might sit in my chair and hope someone else does!)
 
I'm all about letting someone else call/ask. 🙂

I just received an email from UNC saying that I was still under "active consideration". Has anyone else (especially instaters) received such an email and do they know what it means? I posted a separate thread but got no responses....just wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me. Thanks.

So this means what exactly? That the email I received is a mistake or that I'm waitlisted or that nothing has changed?
 
It just means that the admissions office is too busy to deal with us at the moment. haha.
 
i got the same email (after calling last week to see what was up too). if you look through previous years' threads, this is something they've done in the past too. the great thing about unc is that they look at the whole applicant and applicant pool in trying to figure out the class-- they'll keep considering your application in with the mix of new interviewees/applications. i could be wrong but i don't think it's an official waitlist, per se, but something to say that they're looking at your application, are still considering it and no decision has been made either way.

Yikes I have my interview there on the 11th, I think I'm going to miss out on the Dec. 13 fun. Oh well.
