2007 SLU Central

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You can hardly call something SLU Central if no one uses it!
😡

I just interviewed there on tuesday. Liked it a lot. How often does the adcom meet?

The adcom meets every Wednesday. Speaking of that I called to see if there was a change in my post-interview status (it has been 4 weeks) and they said my file is going to the committee for a decision on Wednesday (yesterday). Any ideas as to how long it will take to hear back now that it has been reviewed? Also, if I were to call do you think that they would give me my status over the phone as to accept, waitlist, rejection? Thanks!

I can make a difference on these boards 🙂

I was notified via e-mail that I was alternate listed exactly two weeks after I interviewed. I've heard that the ADCOM meets on Wed. and that if they have made a decision it will be sent out Monday or Tuesday. Best of Luck :luck:

As for those of us on the waitlist, I suspect that we are more likely to get off of it starting around late May, early June. If anyone has any info on waitlist movement for SLU I would appreciate it.

not quite sure what we're consolidating here but maybe I can help answer some of these questions. The adcom meets every Wed and decisions are e-mailed out Friday, Monday, and Tuesday (generally). I was notified of my decision four weeks after my interview (two days after my file was reviewed by the committee). They have a pretty quick turn around time (compared to some other schools).

I also stayed with students during my interview and they told me there is generally a good amount of movement on the waitlist so good luck to those of you still waiting!!!:luck:

I'm headed there in the fall so maybe I'll see some of you in August 😀

Howdy all,

I interviewed there on Monday, so I'm up for the 4 week wait. I enjoyed the day, and everyone with whom I spoke was really friendly. Here's to hoping!

Cheers!

Good luck guys,

If anybody has any questions about SLU, or the admissions process PM me. The waitlist does move a lot, and SLU is still offering acceptances so hang in there.

has anyone (in the past or present) met with a dean or an admissions counselor at SLU, is this something they do?

i'm waiting on slu too, post-interview (3/27)...why is it taking so long?? i posted elsewhere that the adcoms has missed two meetings, so that might be delaying things a little...

anyway, i have no info to consolidate....more like commiserate.

hey guys, i just gave up my spot at SLU, great school, just not the right location for me. hopefully it will go to one of you deserving people, good luck!

Hey guys I just withdrew....sad, but hopefully it will help some one out 🙂 Good luck:luck:

hey there! I interviewed at SLU on 1/22, and the committee met about me on 3/21 (Wed) and I was emailed an acceptance on 3/23. Almost 9 weeks later! I think it depends if your interviewer is available to present your application to the committee. Good luck everyone waiting!

Just got put on the alternate list. Anyone know how it usually moves?

I was also just put on the alternate list. Is it actually unranked? Does anyone know how many people on the list?

I've been on the list since early March. I believe it is ranked, but they don't give out any info about it. No idea about how it moves or how many people are on it.

what date was your interview? it seems like people with interview dates after mine (4/10) have been hearing back. I'm almost at the 6 week mark and no word yet.

has anyone heard anything lately?

anyone hear anything lately? i'm still hanging here 7 weeks and counting... =(

i'm wondering if i shoould call them again

I interview on 03/26 this year and I haven't heard anything either. I called on 05/15 and she said "we'll let you know in a couple of weeks."

I FINALLY got my status today: waitlist....12 1/2 WEEKS after my interview. Thanks, SLU.😡

I heard today too - does anyone know when they will start moving to waitlist or if they already have?

actually, i would like to know that too

I've been on the waitlist for quite some time now

I replied to the waitlist notification e-mail to ask about movement and received this response:

"The list is actively moving as of right now. Thank you."

I just found out today too. waitlisted.

do we know of anyone who has been accepted off the waitlist yet? just curious

did you guys receive that update letter today??

I received an alternate list update letter wayyy back on May 10th. Is that what you're talking about?

What letter? Anyone else get anything?

This is what I got 3 weeks ago, I've been on the alternate list since March

Dear Applicant,

As you know, your file is complete and the Committee on Admissions has assigned you a position on the alternate list.

Please remember that our committee evaluated you based on your interview, academic record, MCAT performance, letters of evaluation, your personal comments, work and research experience, relevant extracurricular activities, and any other accomplishments of a non-scholastic variety. The committee wishes to emphasize that you were chosen as an alternate over numerous able competitors.

As is the case with most medical schools, ours is a rolling admissions process. This means we send offers of acceptance as positions in the class become available. This process continues from October until the early August student orientation. The Committee does not release information as to your rank on the alternate list.

Please keep the contact information on your AMCAS application updated. You should also e-mail us with alternate telephone numbers where you can be reached. Be sure to include your AMCAS ID number on any correspondence. Submit any new facts such as grades, test scores, or other changes to the committee so that information may be included in your file. If you wish to withdraw your application, please e-mail the office at [email protected].

hmmm... still havent heard back since the interiview. very frustrating.

Hey, I'm a student at SLU. I was speaking with one of the secretary's in the admissions office about a week ago. I happened to drop by when the admissions committee was having a meeting - so I made an off-hand comment about "they must be getting through the waitlist now". She said that apparently the class is over-filled right now. More people have accepted than they have space for. However, she said they expected to start seeing some movement in June b/c of all the waitlist movement around California (I think she said California).

Sorry if this seems like bad news...

Ugh, Every school I'm waitlisted at is overfilled. Maybe that means every other school in the country is "under-filled" and people will be withdrawing from the ones I'm waiting on... :luck:

I have been accepted to another school but would withdraw that acceptance if I got off the waitlist at SLU. Do you guys think that I should tell the admissions committee this information or not at all? Thanks

They can see your acceptances. I wouldn't mention another acceptance because it sounds like you're trying to pressure them, but a letter of intent is probably the way to go

Rejection by email today. Harsh - I hate it when schools do that. With a secondary as expensive as SLU's, I wish they'd just spend the stamp. Oh well.

Officially waitlisted today. 8 and a half weeks since interview.

Hi Chanjurban,

Do you know when we should typically see movement on the waitlist? By your last post, do you mean to tell us that we shouldn't be holding our breaths?

Thanks.

Cheers,
Joyssoul

I spoke with someone at the admissions office yesterday and was told that they are using the waitlist right now. Who knows.
