Mary in the admissions office seemed to imply that they were going to email the acceptances this year... not 100% sure tho.

I was told status pages most definitely and most likely email. :scared:

No, first committee meeting is 2nd week of Dec. so that is the earliest we'll hear.

my status page says, they have made a decision and are gonna report to me soon. WTF? Dec is soon?

Hey dr. van nostran wanna give them a call to tell them when we should expect a decision? since you interviewed before I did, i presume they will tell you first 🙂 unless you already gotten accepted and are out drinking 😉

They said soon, I am so scared:scared: And when I interviewed there, she told me they are meeting starting in September, so Im not sure what the deal with December is. I didn't call yet, kind of nervous.

So I just called...

They are just waiting for the letters to be signed (I think by the Dean). They anticipate the letters to be sent out later this week or early next week. Once the letters are signed, we will be notified on the status page as well.

Or early next 🙁 I don't think I can go another week like this, I didn't sleep at all last night. I can't believe I am soooooo nervous.

when did you guys interview

For those who have interviewed, did you guys stay with student hosts?

I have an interview in 3 weeks, and I still haven't found someone to stay with. I've email ~10 students but none have responded.

Most likely you will have to book a hotel. They don't respond to emails very quickly.

whats the best hotel to stay at (ie cheap etc...). ive seen some that pick you up from the airport which is nice. also, any recommendations for checking out the city. i want to get a good idea what life outside of med school is like in vermont.

they give you a list of hotels ... I stayed at Ancourage inn. i think its 75 bucks if you show them your AAA. they dont pick you up from the hotel, but they refund your money for the taxi ride (Which is 6-7 bucks I think). Make sure you ask them, and confirm

As for the sites, ask the students....i didnt get to visit the city much, but I heard there is a beautiful must see lake there.

I am nervous too. If i get "waitlisted or rejected" from vermont and wayne (both of which i should know by end of sept)...the long wait till dec will just be terrible 😱 :scared:

The Wyndham has a special for med applicatns of 80 per night WITH free shuttle to and from airport and free shuttle to and from UVM...I highly reccommend it. And you get a great view.

i'm staying at the anchorage as well, and i'm pretty sure i'm paying about 54 dollars/day (for 2 days). i'm driving up, so i don't have to worry about taxis and such. Maybe i'm paying so much less b/c i asked for the UVM discount? Every time i've compared a school and AAA discount, the school discount has always been cheaper.

As far as areas to check out, definitely walk down Church Street while you're here. It's a pedestrian shopping area, much like Pearl Street in Boulder, CO if you're familiar with that (designed by the same guy). There are quite a few bars/restaurants on Church Street and will give you a good idea of what social life is like here. Also, be sure to check out Lake Champlain. Oh, and of course, it's starting getting cold here, so be sure to bring some warm layers!!

(Church Street and the Lake are all walking distance from campus)

It's beautiful in Vermont right now with all the fall foliage... But definitely getting colder.

I'm instate, interviewed in early october, was told I would hear in December---for all that that might give people in terms of information.
I also was told the first meetings about acceptances from early early interviews have already happened.

The status page has been updated.

mine still hasnt been updated, it should be today, so scared 🙁

ANY OOS person has gotten an acceptance yet? How about anyone!?

It's Lake Champlain and on the other side of it is Plattsburg, New York. It's beautiful, but I prefer to stay on the Vermont side. Upstate New York doesn't do much for me.

I don't have an MSAR handy. Does anyone know what percentage of UVM's med school is out of state? Also, do they give any boost at all to someone who currently lives out of state but got his Bachelor's in Vermont (Trinity College)?

For OOS: Looks like a 3/8 chance after you get an interview...I am sure ties to the state will only help.

Applied Interviewed Accepted Enrolled
Total: 3,482 497 205 102
In-state: 92 66 51 43
Out-of-state: 3,390 431 154 59
Women: 1,908 259 115 58
Minorities: 1,260 136 45 17
International: 456 48 8 8
