i have that issue with like 3 schools - NYMC, georgetown, and Boston.. oh and UPenn too.. starting to freak out..

Hey,

I was working lobby duty in the dorm and had some time to check last year's invite thread. Looks like invites keep coming in no set order. Here is the list from last year.

AECOM: drizzt3117 (Invite 8/13, Interview 9/17), prettymonkey (invite 8/13, Interview 9/7), mvenus929 (Invite 8/13, Interview 10/12), Taylorcraft46 (Invite 8/23, Interview TBD) Zendoc's Fiance (TBD), justmoi (Invite 8/23, Interview 10/16), hope08 (complete 9/6, invite 9/12, interview 10/22), LovelyMD (complete 8/28, Invite 9/12), dancinRN1022 (complete 8/2, invite 9/11), SilkyDelicious (complete 8/23, interview 9/20), catdoctor (complete 9/4, invite 9/20, interview 11/6), Aceswild955 (interview 11/7), FON86(Complete 8/28 Interview 10/24) Zendoc (complete 8/1, invite 10/9, Interview 11/7), sillydoc2230 (complete 9/17, invite 10/9, interview TBD); sunkisst 30 (complete 10/2,invite 10/12,interview mid-November); ec2190 (complete 9/18, invite 10/9, interview 11/14); chespirido (complete 9/5,invite 10/18,interview TBD);ufgrad00 (complete 10/2,invite 10/9,interview 11/14), BigMDT(interview 11/26),jad2121,medking(complete 8/23,invite 10/18), Team Zissou(complete:?,invite 11/15,interview 1/16), nata723 (complete 11/2, invite 11/15, interview TBD), Snopearl (complete 10/01, invite 11/20, interview late Jan?)

Thanks for that drangocar. The only explanation I can think of is that the apps were separated into different piles for each subcommittee and certain subcommittees take longer than others. Or maybe the superstar applicants came first, who knows.

Plus I don't think they offer acceptances until January, but I could be wrong on that. Just trying to stay positive until I hear something more.🙂

I think this secondary application is an IQ test. If you can submit it without receiving any programing errors you get in or at least an interview!😛

Does it remind anyone else of that scene in Men In Black where Will Smith is the street cop trying to get in the the elite government agency and he is surrounded by Navy Seals, Rangers, and West Point grads. They all have to fill out their paperwork in these ridiculous egg chairs. Will Smith gets frustrated, looks around, and pulls a table up to the chair. He gets the job!

Urrrrgh! I will be calling AECOM tomorrow because I got "record not found" when I hit submit.:bang:

Piece of advice: email instead. I've heard if you call them on the phone they can be quite brusque.

I got a completely black screen when I submitted the other day. Emailed them at 3 pm, and got a nice and helpful answer (with working links to my app and receipt) by 9 the next morning.

I submitted my secondary way back in July, and I only just got a confirmation email a few days ago. I think that with so many people applying, they just take longer to evaluate some applicants?

Thanks for the advice... I am an anti-social-stressed-out mess right now and I don't need anyone yelling at me.

Sounds like me...I swear I wasn't like this until I started checking out SDN! Every day I think (why did they get their invite even though they were complete weeks later)! It shouldn't even matter...sigh. This site is like a drug for me...every day I promise I will quit and then I get the cravings so I check.:scared:

Same here. Have you seen the SDN member (I think it's one of the mods) who has the "CAGE" questionnaire in his signature? This is a series of 4 questions designed to help someone figure out if they have a drinking problem:

1. Have you ever tried to Cut down on drinking?
2. Do you get Annoyed when people criticize your drinking?
3. Do you ever feel Guilty about your drinking?
4. Have you ever had an Eye-opener [drink first thing in the morning]?

The SDN member has used the questions, but everywhere it says "drinking" he has substituted "SDN."🙂

I was just wondering if anyone this year or in previous years has contacted AECOM when they were going to be in the area for another interview? I have an interview at NYMC in early November and would like to consolidate my trips if possible, and if AECOM wants to interview me. Has anyone sent them an email or called them to politely say they are going to be in the area in case they are interested in interviewing you? And if so, how receptive were they to it?

I seem to have subconsciously developed the belief that by checking the interview threads I will somehow spur schools to send me invites. That's the only explanation I can come up with for repeatedly torturing myself.

I called and processing time is 5-6 weeks.... arghhhhh

Has anyone received an interview for the week of 10/6 -10/10?

If so, how did you guys receive your interview? Was it appointed or did you get to choose?

Thanks! I'm trying to decide whether I should 'wait' for AEYeshiva to respond before I purchase plane tickets.

Just wondering what other people are doing about picking a faculty who's work you'rr familiar with (or interested in, I assume) to potentially meet with when you go for your interview. Are you picking a faculty member/department you're already very familiar with (ie it's similar to the research you do now) or are you picking something you don't know much about but that sounds really interesting to you? And does anyone know how this will work? Will the meeting with the researcher you choose be separate from your interview?

Definitely wait!! I got my 4th choice date. 🙁

My interview there is 10/7. But then again I received my invite on 8/25 so it's more than likely that those dates are already filled up.

Okay, thanks a lot chad5871! Going to go ahead and just purchase my return flight from NY

i didnt pick a faculty member at all. :/

Wow, can't believe you guys got interviews so early!

They must only be having a few people per interview day. I have mine in early Nov. and that was one of the earliest ones available!

Hmm. Well, thanks for getting back to me. I think I'm going to just tell them an area that interests me (even though it's not really related to the research I'm doing now) and if they match me up with a specific faculty member, that's fine. My interview is on the 23rd, so I'll let people know if this has any effect on my interview day in any way... But would be interested to hear what anyone else is doing/has done about this.

Got an invite from AECOM today, came by email. Hopefully I can do MSSM and AECOM in one trip. But from what I'm hearing early to mid November is already filled up? Anyways, good luck to the rest of you guys waiting.

How long did it take you guys to receive a secondary?

I added AECOM to my list via AMCAS and am wondering how long of a wait there is.

I'm guessing you are verified. I got it a week after that. However, since they don't screen, just download and send it. But before you send, give them a call to see if that's okay.

I'm sure its not biggie.

Yes, I was verified back in August. I just decided to add AECOM this week. Thank you for the advice!!

I am pretty sure that they interview every day of the group but that the groups are kept small (4-5 per day). that is probably why the days are filled so much in advance.

from what i heard i think they have much more than 4-5 per day. i think 10-20.

There were 9 kids when I interviewed. The school's awesome! Great student, great faculty, and great campus! :luck:

my group seems to be about 15-20... toolazy to count

I've got a morning interview, which feels like it could be a disadvantage (not having gone on the tour, luncheon, etc.).. what are thoughts about this? If anyone's interviewed in the morning, do you just pop in at 10:00 and straight away head for your interview? That seems kind of nervewracking. :scared: (This is just my second interview, my previous one had provided the tour, presentation, etc. before interviewing commenced. Thought that was rather de-stressing).

haha yeah i have the morning interview also.

i dont know if anyone is going to reply quick enough, but my interview is a week from tomorrow morning. i am definitely interested in research in med school, but i haven't looked into anyone in particular in einstein. would it be inappropriate for me to try to browse through some faculty research on the website and email them tonight about trying to set up an appt with a faculty member?!? (ie. i'm not "familiar" with anyone's work at einstein, per se)

i'm not sure if it's completely inappropriate, but i think it makes more sense if you give your list of faculty to the admissions instead of trying to setup your own interview. good luck!

If I had a choice, I would go in the morning. 🙂 Then you'd be able to truly absorb and enjoy the tour and other events of the day. Also I think it would make the "do you have any questions for me?" question at the end somewhat easier, because you haven't been through the info session. You would still have things you're genuinely curious about. I would just make sure you get up super early that morning, so you have time to grab breakfast, read the morning paper (or whatever relaxes you in the morning).

I've been complete since 8/28 and havent heard anything as of yet. Anybody else in the same position?

Got the complete email on Aug 15th and not a peep since. I don't know if that's a bad sign or maybe they just haven't gotten to me yet.

Try August 7th...
Does AECOM respond to the I will be in NYC emails, cuz I just got Mt. Sinai, and I wanna know if I can just interview during 1 week all the NYC schools...

I sent one and never got a reply. I was offered an interview a week or two later, but was unable to get the date I requested.

I've got an afternoon interview, which is totally ok with me. I'm definitely not a morning person. =)

At first I thought a morning interview was going to bad, but in actuality, I really enjoyed it. Glad I got it out of the way and I got to enjoy the tour/lunch later on. Anyhow, important thing is not so much the time, but just be yourself when you interview. I hope we all get in :luck: (FINGERS DOUBLED CROSSED). I really like AECOM 😀

I just got an invite. I actually find it strange because...

1) My stats are low (<30 MCAT); and
2) I just sent the package in less than two weeks ago.

As they say, this process totally is a crap shoot.

Send that email, because I got a reply back from the admissions at AECOM the next day saying they'd try hard to accommodate my trip to NY, and within a week I was invited for an interview. They were very helpful and awesome overall.

I just want to make sure b/c I am paranoid, so a complete notification means they received your paper application and not just your online submission right??? Thanks in advance!
