anyone know why they ask us to list all the schools that we applied to in previous years (i called any ask, n they said list ALL)? does this make an impact on our application? i m thinkin the more schools we list the worst it looks since it means you didnt get in when you applied to so many schools in the previous years? anyone has a thought on this?

I mailed in mine with the email that said payment accepted and had a code. Then tonight (7 hours later and AFTER I mailed it) I got an email with a link to the actual receipt. I guess I too will be calling to see what to do. But like previously mentioned when I called earlier the lady was VERY rude!

I did the same thing. I mean, they will have our secondary with the email and authorization code - I would think that it would be okay...

For those of you getting a blank page when clicking on the link from the conformation email, the problem is with a forgotten ampersand in the URL.
So if the URL in your email is of the form:
http://www.aecom.yu.edu/admissions/printApplication.asp?id=111x=11111111
you need to add an '&' before the x:
http://www.aecom.yu.edu/admissions/printApplication.asp?id=111&x=11111111

great discovery..
Question: Does this submit button actually submit anything to them? I'm thinking about redoing some of the additional information, but don't want to have send 3 versions.

Yea I can keep you posted- I don't think I will get a chance to call today though- I have to work all day and with my job (nanny) calling on the phone isn't safe because kids love to have random outburst when they suspect you are making an important call! 😀

I just got another email from AECOM...they said "just in case" I didnt get the other one.
AECOM seems OCD about things...from just in case emails, to needing both an electronic and a hard copy of the supplemental.

mdmarty, thanks for the info! my problem is i submitted yesterday and do not have the link with my confirmation to insert the "&" into. any idea how to retrieve this info?

There is another technical glitch right now. I had to answer the question about being out of school, and the app is throwing a db error bitching about row length. There's no char limit on the app, so I'm not going to shorten my essay just yet, but I did take a stab at diagnosing the issue for them since I'm a software developer familiar with the error. Maybe if I'm right they'll accept me out of gratitude. 😛 And if I'm wrong...
Anyway, I haven't gotten a response yet from them about what to do in the meantime.
Did you figure this out? It's made me a bit nuts!

Hi all. I've tried to submit this application several times and keep getting errors. Most recently when I hit submit I'm being taken to a dark screen with all the info from my app listed and delineated by commas. At the bottom of the screen there's an error message that says "String or binary data would be truncated." I'm guessing this means there's a character limit on the explanations -- is anyone else having this problem? Any clue what the limitation is? I don't want to shorten my explan. if I don't have to. Also don't want them to somehow get my application 10 times... 😕

I managed to successfully submit mine tonight, so I think it's up and working.
If you keep getting red marks, know that you need to re-enter the last 4 digits of your SSN as well as upload your photo. It wipes them clean each time you unsuccessfully submit.

This application is so strange!
I submitted and was brought to a blue screen...
I have not seen any print icon anywhere.
This is the DB error I found. It's because of a length limit on the essay entry boxes - they actually had the developer get back to me, which I thought was exceptionally responsive.
They said to write that the essay is attached to the hardcopy in the textbox, and mail in the essay with your hardcopy app.

So what is the consensus for whether or not the online submitting form actually gets reviewed?
For me, I submitted first with paying by check option, but then decided to go back and submit it again by paying CC directly. this resulted in two sends ( i also changed one essay from the two apps). Wonder if they'll have me on file twice

From what the lady told me when I called, they won't actually review anything until they get your hard copy in the mail.
Anyone know what the character limit is for the questions?

...."
It then asked me to print out the app and mail it.
Oh, nevermind. I just got a confirmation email saying payment was received. So I guess if anyone else has this problem (with the ambiguous "False" message post-payment), just wait, you may get confirmation.
Anyway,
what a completely ridiculous application, what with all the redundancies and glitches. I'm feeling pretty annoyed now.

I talked to a lady on Friday and she had a record of my submitting it 3 times and seemed confused as to why I had done that (it was because I could never print the completed application and didn't receive receipts). So yes, they see every time you submit it, but I assume they only review the one you actually mail in. I have yet to receive any sort of credit card receipt, even though the lady also told me the payment went through, so I'll probably be submitting for a 4th time. Oh well, they have a screwed up application so they can deal with all the multiple submissions! I'm sure they understand the problems and the number of times doesn't matter.

Haha, when I talked to her last Friday, she mentioned that someone had submitted it three times. Maybe she was talking about you =P
I'm sure anybody who calls now will get to hear about how I submitted it multiple times (I couldn't print my final app either).

Then when I was sent the confirmation email, I saw that my picture (a white male) was now an asian female who I have never seen before in my life and certianly do not have a picture of on my computer.... and this picture was obviously cropped to be a picture for med school...
So I am going to tape over that with my real picture and email them and ask what the heck happened there...
Has anybody heard of this happening?! This is both funny and really odd!

Is anyone else having a blank form show up after you hit the submit button? When I click submit, a screen with a completely empty form shows up. I am assuming you are supposed to print this out if it has all the information you just entered in it. Or am I missing something?
blank form could be because you have too much info in the question answers...that's what the lady told me.

I called up and the lady was a little abrupt but still pleasant. Apparently, she did not know why my app came up blank but said that I should receive an email with a link to my app so I can print it out. No email as of yet.

For people who had to submit multiple times, check your credit card statement to make sure it wasn't charged multiple times. I got the blank form several times, and I just noticed that there are 3 charges of $115 to AECOM.
EDIT: I called the admissions office, and the lady said that "everything will be reimbursed to you" if you've been charged more than once. I guess a lot of people have been having the same problem, so at least they're aware of it. Let's hope they get it sorted out before my next credit card statement is due...

trying to upload the picture and it says "contact help desk" argh...and now its past 5pm EST
Edit: So I just started everything all over again and renamed the picture file. Now, I'm sure I've probably submitted my picture 5 million times...great. I, of course, also got the blank screen which I'm just staring at not sure if I should try refreshing, hitting back, or just do nothing and wait for the confirmation email...haha...

I see that a lot of you have gotten Albert Einstein's invite to complete the secondary. My AMCAS application was verified on June 26th. For other schools, I am usually among the first batch of applicants to receive secondaries. I wonder if anyone also verified around June 26th have not received an email invite from Albert Einstein

No, I called them about this. Just select the option that says you'll have your letters sent from your Career Services Office (I'm assuming that's where they'll be sent from). Or if it's a committee letter, choose that option. But you don't have to list them all out if it's a packet. Hope that helps. 🙂

Has anyone gotten an email from them about anything other than starting the secondary (ie secondary received etc??). I called to ask if they received my hard copy and the lady said she couldnt help me because it would be impossible to "sift through the bucket of 5000 applications." Huh?

This happened to me. I'm still waiting to see if I get a confirmation email. Because I've probably filled this application about 4 times, while rushing I forgot to mention the name of my University where the LORs are being sent. Does anyone know how they can fix that for me?? GAhHH

What a pain. The system is really not optimized for international students.
Example - They asked me for my foreign address, I filled it in, they then wouldn't let me move on until I filled in my American mailing address. What? Had to put in N/A everywhere. Blergh.
Edit - And now my credit card has been declined. Lovely.

You can try calling and report back. I tried 2 days ago and the lady told me that it was "impossible" to give me my status. Maybe I asked the wrong questions.... (I asked if she could confirm receipt of my hard copy).

I'm glad I'm not the only this has happened to. I sent in my secondary about two weeks ago, and when I logged in today to check the status of my application there was a picture of some guy that is DEFINITELY not me. Must be some kind of glitch in their system....
how do you check your status?
