I am in the same boat, Chad. I think I even met you that day. I really liked AECOM a lot and got the dagger: REJECTED! It sucks.....🙁

Yup...RIP phone status checks.

She said they'd be mailed today, so we'll receive them in a few...would an e-mail really have been that difficult!?

Darn... My string of 4 classes just ended. I wish I had checked this thread ealier this morning 🙁 I interviewed in September...
 
Unfortunately I called up after the phone status was cut.

Since someone wasn't given a decision from a Nov. 24th interview, I'm wondering if anyone else encountered this. I interviewed on Dec. 2nd and I'd hate to be checking my mail for nothing.
 
Hey guys, I did not have a chance to check out the apartments during my visit (had to take the shuttle to my interview before we could). I was wondering what everyone thought of them and if they had learned how much they cost, as there is conflicting information on the website.

Apartments are OK, nothing luxury or new, tiny rooms, but this is norm for NYC. I saw two 2-bedroom apartments (at one I stayed with student host, another during the tour), they both had two rooms, living room is virtually non-existent, kitchen and dining room are united...everything is very small, but once again, this is how most apratments is NYC are. I was told that best apartments go to students with families and kids. Launry is in the basement of each building, and it's like $1.25 for washing and $1.35 for drying.
If you rent a 2-bedroom apartment with a roommate, it's around $400 per person. 3-bedroom apartment will be even less, around $300...this is what I was told.

Uh, what?

The rooms were absolutely huge. Bigger than my friend's apartment near Columbia, and he pays close to $1000 in rent. The apartments were my favorite aspect about AECOM.
 
Yes. What I liked the most (watch me get a rejection mail in a couple of days now...) Was that they were big and cheap 😛 the one I saw at least was 3br, and from that particular floor, the view was gorgeous and it was really sunny (which is a huge plus for me; I don't want some gloomy dark apt that I will need to study in...). The kitchen and living rm were definitely big enough. And the 300some dollars that included rent and utilities was like music to my ears considering its location and how expensive evrything else will be.

I guess we have different idea of big and small. For NYC they might be big, but for other cities they are quite small and nothing special, IMO. At the same time, I agree that housing is very affrodable at AECOM, and I wouldn't mind living in those apartments at all.
 
Is AECOM now rolling from this point on or will there be a single date in the future when they accept/reject the rest of us?

The typical studio apartment in NYC (Manhattan at least) is probably less than 500 square feet and over $1000 a month. So yes, AECOM's student housing is quite spacious and ridiculously cheap for what you get. It is located in the Bronx, so I don't know how their housing compares to what alternatives might be available in the Bronx.

I don't think there are any affordable alternatives in the Bronx...it's just I live in a studio now, and it's definitely bigger than entire AECOM's two bedroom apartment... And I'm not sure if they renovate apartments when you move in... but I guess standards of living in NYC are quite different from the rest of the country. At the same time I would never call small and in need of renovation "large and beautiful" just because it's in NYC. 🙂

haha things sure are different here.. also aecom's rent like $400 per person. that is a ridiculous deal. for the same kind of apt you get at aecom, you would pay at least $1500 (not in manhattan) to probably $2500 (depending on location)

edit: just check out the craigslist listings for nyc

Yeah, I'm aware that prices are around $300-400 if you live with a roommate (share 2 or 3 bedroom apartment). I'm wondering if they have 2 bedroom apartments with two bathrooms...probably not.
 
Interviewed in October, Waitlisted now. Just wondering how many others were waitlisted? Seems most are acceptances and rejections. I only saw a couple others in my position...

(Sorry this is quite irrelevant to your question, which I don't know the answer to; but I'm now wondering if they're back on doing phone status checks)

I was curious so I called again. Still RIP on the phone status checks. Guess the rest of us will just have to wait until we get mail. 🙁
 
Man, I read page 9 and freaked out when I saw that we could find out our decisions over the phone..then freaked out even more when I called 10 minutes after 5 and the office was closed, but then didn't feel so bad when I read ahead and realized they stopped doing that...

Oh well..here's to tomorrow or next week sometime!


Also, whoever was talking about the apartments being small or expensive or whatever is crazy.
 
So some have already received their decisions in the mail?
 
Just to let everyone know, I called yesterday and asked if I would possibly hear anything from my interview in December and they said I wouldn't hear anything this round. Oh well

So I'm in cali and I just got my letter in today...waitlisted. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is different waitlist categories. I've read some forums that say some applicants were "reviewed favorably" and are "high priority." Has anyone got a letter like that??

I have the same question as sctennis.

Also slightly more off-topic, as this question is about more schools than just Albert Einstein, but are there certain schools out there that reject more often than they waitlist after interviews? If so, is Einstein one of those schools?

So many waitlist letters lately for me...super annoying and depressing.
 
Got my letter...Waitlisted, and they made it sound as if very people get off of it...o well.

So now, two of my best interviews ive got waitlisted at, while getting an acceptance at one of my worst. Weird.

Where do you live?

NYC is only marginally more expensive than most major cities.
 
Hey guys I got accepted yesterday and was wonder if anyone going to AECOM for sure. I had an awesome interview there, one of those where you both start talking and you just lose track of time. But the clinical seem a bit sketchy. any insights?

I'm actually still waiting on my letter (eek!) but I'm related to a faculty member who's involved with a residency program in the Einstein hospital system. To the previous poster- I can't speak for the SDN poster with scathing reviews of the clinical time, but this relative of mine has indicated that students that come out of Einstein are well trained, competent physicians. I met a resident in that program who had attended med school at Einstein with great things to say about her clinical experiences. She said that she felt more clinically prepared than others in her residency program to step straight out on the wards and play an active role. I think if you're very seriously considering going to Einstein, you should try to go back and speak to some more 3rd and 4th years and get some feedback.

Another one of my family friends is on faculty at a medical school in manhattan and said outright that the only medical schools in NYC he would recommend attending were Columbia or Einstein (neither of which is the school at which he works). *Obviously* that statement would (and should) be hotly debated among many people, but I mention it because I think it's important to see that in New York Einstein training/students have a very solid reputation.

Anyone know what orientation week at Einstein is like?
 
Can anybody that has been on an interview tell me how dangerous it is around AECOM?

My mother is worried that I will be robbed or beaten up if I go there for school (I think because a family friend just got beat up/mugged at a college he attends in the Bronx).

I am not a small guy so I would only be worried if there were gangs of people, guns or knives involved.
