Should I send a letter begging foran interview?


Basically UCLA and one other school are the only schools, that I havent heard back from, that i would consider over my acceptances now...so shouldIsend them a LOI of sorts.

I know! Waaaaaay too long to wait. Chubby- wouldn't hurt. I didn't ask them their opinion on updates, LOIs, but I think you have nothing to lose. It's only nov. though, so I wouldn't be surprised if you still get invited. 🙂

I interviewed back in September and actually just scheduled over the phone. I think they gave me a date about a week from when they invited me, but they were really flexible. I wouldn't worry too much about doing it early. They don't send out acceptances until Jan 15 so you might not be at too much of a disadvantage if you push it back.
They will certainly schedule the interview without the transcript and photo. In fact, I just brought the photo (small head shot, like the ones other applications ask for) with me and sent the transcripts later. They just need to get those eventually. Good luck and congrats!

Maybe so, I don't remember. I know I had a question about something (maybe the photo and transcript requirement) and when I called they just let me do it via phone...

I flew into LAX for my interview today, got off the shuttle, and it's absolutely gorgeous out. Man, I love CA 😍

My interviewer said that even if they tell you decisions are made Dec 15 or Jan 15...it actually won't be until Feb 15. I asked why they make decisions so late, and he said that they want to interview a good number of applicants to get a feel for the applicant pool before extending any acceptances.

Na, this year is different. I put UCLA on mid/end of december for first round.

The person in the office told me "January" when I asked on my interview day, so that's what I'll cross my fingers for.

What Dreampills says might happen this year, as it did last year. Communication of decisions came a month after they were made.

However, ucla interviewed a month early than they did last year.

Bottom line: earliest communicated decision is mid December, latest is mid January.

Anyone here apply PRIME too? I hear interviews will be granted next month....

That also says that interviews will start in October, which they didn't. I interviewed mid Sept. and I have some buddies who interviewed a week and half before me. That information isn't very reliable bob.

Pretty laid back interview. However, they don't try and impress you at all. You show up, they give you a packet with interview times etc. You go on a tour and have lunch with student, interview, and that's it. Plus there is a lot of waiting in between. They're all nice though, they just don't put in much effort.

I'm curious as to your ECs etc since I have the EXACT same numbers as you, went to a UC, and got an interview about a month after I turned in my secondary (don't remember when exactly but it was around the same time as you).

If it's not too much to ask what's your ethnicity as well? I hate to say this but it seems like UCLA puts a lot of emphasis on ethnic background.

EDIT: Got all the information from your MDapps... I don't know brother, it seems you are getting love from the other UCs though. Personally, I am pretty sure you will get an interview at some point; the only question is when and nobody can really answer that one. Your numbers and ECs are too good for UCLA to pass up.

Yeah. I've been complete since Mid August and still haven't received an interview invite. Perhaps we're getting the silent rejection treatment at this point.

I have no publications; I think that's my problem. Most of the people getting interviews have been counting bacteria colonies and running PCR since infancy. I guess that stuff is important though. I know that when I'm sick, it's important to me that my doctor have excellent lab tech skills.

They are so wacky! I interviewed mid-oct and they told me it was their second week of interviews. They should work on getting their story straight 😛

Also you all got much more specific answers than I did. My interviewer said something like "The process is slow, and it's early, so you'll hear from us...in a while...like, later" I wasn't sure if this was a bad sign or if he didn't know or if he was just being vague. I decided to find it hilarious rather than letting it stress me out.
