I know! Waaaaaay too long to wait. Chubby- wouldn't hurt. I didn't ask them their opinion on updates, LOIs, but I think you have nothing to lose. It's only nov. though, so I wouldn't be surprised if you still get invited. 🙂

K....maybe ill wait till after this semester is over, and send my grades with it....thats probably a more meaningful time to send an update or LOI.

I interviewed back in September and actually just scheduled over the phone. I think they gave me a date about a week from when they invited me, but they were really flexible. I wouldn't worry too much about doing it early. They don't send out acceptances until Jan 15 so you might not be at too much of a disadvantage if you push it back.
They will certainly schedule the interview without the transcript and photo. In fact, I just brought the photo (small head shot, like the ones other applications ask for) with me and sent the transcripts later. They just need to get those eventually. Good luck and congrats!

Maybe so, I don't remember. I know I had a question about something (maybe the photo and transcript requirement) and when I called they just let me do it via phone...
 
one of my friends got an interview invite yesterday, so there's hope!
 
Most of the MIs I met on the interview said that they interviewed in Feb and March. Don't worry! It will come!
 
I'd rather like a secondary, actually. Something tells me that, after this much time, it's not coming at all. Oh well.

Loon, do you mind me asking, how long ago did you submit your primary to UCLA b/c I'm curious about the turn around for offering secondaries.
 
Life4Life, they acknowledged my primary July 25th.
 
I saw a friends' away messages this morning which said "IT'S SNOWING!" 😱 She's at U Mich.

I flew into LAX for my interview today, got off the shuttle, and it's absolutely gorgeous out. Man, I love CA 😍
 
Oh yea, I also asked when we would hear back, and they said not until January.

That's not *too* far away. :luck::luck:

Aww. If I had known you guys were at LA, I would have come by and said something, even though I am applying with you guys. Our tissue culture room is 2 floors above the admissions office.

How are these guys doing with all the wildfires? I hope OK. Looks like they had to evacuate some of the patients in the medical center.

My interviewer said that even if they tell you decisions are made Dec 15 or Jan 15...it actually won't be until Feb 15. I asked why they make decisions so late, and he said that they want to interview a good number of applicants to get a feel for the applicant pool before extending any acceptances.

More waiting...

Na, this year is different. I put UCLA on mid/end of december for first round.

The person in the office told me "January" when I asked on my interview day, so that's what I'll cross my fingers for.
 
Shemarty, who did you talk to in the office? I emailed the director of admissions last week, and she said mid December.

What Dreampills says might happen this year, as it did last year. Communication of decisions came a month after they were made.

However, ucla interviewed a month early than they did last year.

Bottom line: earliest communicated decision is mid December, latest is mid January.

Anyone here apply PRIME too? I hear interviews will be granted next month....

The man with the british accent. I just casually asked when I might expect to hear back, and he said January. Then again, I'm not in the first batch of interviewees, so perhaps the people who interviewed in Sept/Oct will hear back in Dec.

Pretty laid back interview. However, they don't try and impress you at all. You show up, they give you a packet with interview times etc. You go on a tour and have lunch with student, interview, and that's it. Plus there is a lot of waiting in between. They're all nice though, they just don't put in much effort.

I just received a secondary today, UCLA received my primary on 8/31. I'm in-state, but the delay may have been due to my relatively low overall GPA. So for those who are waiting on secondaries, there's still hope!
 
UCLA received all my stuff 9/3. I got an email 10/1 saying I was complete.

Still no word.

i'm in state, go to a uc, 4.0/39s. anyone else not hear anything for this long?
 
Just received this secondary, and feel really lazy to finish it. I mean come on! my secondary writing phase was 4 months ago!

I'm curious as to your ECs etc since I have the EXACT same numbers as you, went to a UC, and got an interview about a month after I turned in my secondary (don't remember when exactly but it was around the same time as you).

If it's not too much to ask what's your ethnicity as well? I hate to say this but it seems like UCLA puts a lot of emphasis on ethnic background.

EDIT: Got all the information from your MDapps... I don't know brother, it seems you are getting love from the other UCs though. Personally, I am pretty sure you will get an interview at some point; the only question is when and nobody can really answer that one. Your numbers and ECs are too good for UCLA to pass up.

Yeah. I've been complete since Mid August and still haven't received an interview invite. Perhaps we're getting the silent rejection treatment at this point.

I have no publications; I think that's my problem. Most of the people getting interviews have been counting bacteria colonies and running PCR since infancy. I guess that stuff is important though. I know that when I'm sick, it's important to me that my doctor have excellent lab tech skills.
 
Does UCLA actually email you to notify you that you are complete? Or are you just looking at the status page that says they have received your documents?

Whether it is mid/late Dec or Jan that people will first hear back, do you think that includes people who interview in the first week of December? Or do those people not make it into the first batch or hear-backs.

Also did everyone get the PRIME email on Friday saying that will send interview in January, or did they just send that to some people?

I got it too. I think they just wanted a reason to send out an email to show people their new video is up.

They are so wacky! I interviewed mid-oct and they told me it was their second week of interviews. They should work on getting their story straight 😛

Also you all got much more specific answers than I did. My interviewer said something like "The process is slow, and it's early, so you'll hear from us...in a while...like, later" I wasn't sure if this was a bad sign or if he didn't know or if he was just being vague. I decided to find it hilarious rather than letting it stress me out.

I never received an email to say I was complete. I just checked the status page and it said my secondary and letters were received.

For those of you who have interviewed at UCLA: do you guys know where we are supposed to send our final copy of our transcripts? On my status page it says that a transcript is requested but I can't find an address anywhere. Thanks.
