The email the MSAR lists for the admissions office is [email protected]. That was my plan, and if it gets returned then I know I need to find a different one.

not to be a downer at all but i think if you have already been reviewed by the adcom post interview, nothing can really change your position in the rankings. thats the impression i got from the presentation on interview day. i think if in march or whenever they do form the waitlist then an update letter might help.

does this sound correct to anyone else?
 
I don't want to be unnecessarily contradictory to Spartan, but I'm pretty sure I distinctly remember hearing Dr. WC say to send updates if we have them, and that they wanted to hear from us post-interview.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong?
But I've only had two interviews and one was today, so I'm guessing I haven't mixed them up 🙂
 
Updates have been said to be helpful before you are taken to the committee following the interview, and they can also help if you were given the same score as someone else during committee review. I've always gotten the impressions that updates are nice to send if you have time to do it and things have changed in some way, but they will never change your committee score.

That being said, I sent several love letters of sorts to the school over the summer, and it certainly didn't hurt. It also didn't hurt that once waitlisted I made sure that Dr. WC knew how much I wanted in.
 
so, how are you guys here waiting for dec 15 dealing with the anxiousness? The waiting is killing me. I'm also pretty worried that it won't work out for me at VCU.

I'm trying to stay away from the computer and stay busy with Christmas and work. To be truly honest, it is the first thing on my mind when I wake up in the morning. I am doing my best not to expect anything or get excited, but I would love good news on the 15th or any time for that matter. The sooner the better/less insane I'll be.
 
I am surmising at this point that if your status page still reads, "Congratulations, your interview with our school..." at this point that it is highly unlikely any definitive answer will be received on Saturday. Would that be correct? Should I be expecting a hold status change since it appears that my file has not been reviewed by the adcom yet? I don't even have the interview survey page yet...

Thanks for any insight.

yeah I was also wondering about what it should say post-interview. I had mine on Nov 7th. After about a week it still said "congratulations, your interview.....". It soon changed to "do the survey thingy". After completing the survey, nothing has changed since. Don't know what this means.

That's interesting, because I've seen people saying here that once the adcom reviews you, your status changes to reflect that.

I would imagine, though, given that you interviewed 11/7, it's pretty safe to say that you will hear something on December 15th, and also from other things I've read, it seems they can reject in between offer dates, so you're probably safe from an outright rejection at this point too.

Are those just acceptances given out on that day, or interviews as well?

They release acceptances on certain days:

Oct 15,
Dec 15,
Jan something
Feb something
Mar something

I think they give out interviews every day from what I believe. Good luck!
 
Acceptances go out Oct 15, Dec 15, Feb 1, and March 15.
 
so we should get sruvey thing and then some other message saying our file has been reviewed. I got the survery but not the message, so I dont know. I guess we'll just have to see to find out.
 
Sorry for this bad news, folks. But I am willing to bet that people who want it the most will not get in before late April or early May. The good news is that all or most of “them” who get in earlier will eventually go somewhere else. It seems happening every year that the majority of posters in VCU Central thread eventually get in. Sometimes I can’t help thinking that VCU saves the last few spots for SDNers.

I JUST RECEIVED A STATUS UPDATE FROM VCU as of Dec 13, 5.00pm. It changed my status page from a "please fill out our survey" to a "your file has been reviewed, the next communication you will hear from us will be about a acceptance, hold or rejection" I have no idea what this means and am quite scared!

I just want to know on Saturday!
 
That just means the committee ranked you and you Did Not get an automatic rejection. Good luck Saturday.
 
does the committee typically give out a lot of post-interview rejections?

You might want to call and check b/c I heard (on SDN, I think) that they were trying to get through everyone who interviewed up to this point. I would call if it has been 3 or more weeks since your interview. It seems to me in the past (when Dr. H was around) they did not always stick to the exact date, so they could also delay acceptance release until they reviewed everyone, if that was their goal. My post-interview file status update (the hold) came on a Saturday. I know they meet on Mondays, but I don't know if they meet at any other time. So if they voted on me on Monday, but I didn't get the update until Saturday that means there was a delay. Therefore I wouldn't give up hope just yet. Again, to ease your mind, you could call. I hope that all makes sense...it has been a long day and I am quite tired. Anyone that knows more/better, feel free to correct me.🙂

It's funny, back in July I checked every day to see if/when you would get in. I was rooting for you.
 
ah I got the on hold message post-interview today already (interviewed in mid-november), very unexpected since I thought it was coming on 12/15....🙁

Why the sad face? That means you have been reviewed and now it is possible you might get an acceptance on the 15th. Otherwise you would have had to wait until February 1 to possibly be accepted.
 
yeah thanks, I realized afterwards this was discussed in the other VCU Dec. 15 thread. hopefully everyone's getting some good news this sat.!

I interviewed ON 10/15 so I've been waiting ever since then! Here's hoping good news comes my way and everyone else's way!

CHECK YOUR STATUS PAGES, I got accepted! I checked it just on random and it said that I was accepted into the 2008 freshman class! 6:40pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've still got the "the commitee has reviewed your file and the decision will be told on..." message...hopefully that will change by tomorrow night!

wow, i did not even check my email until today b/c i figured it wouldn't come out until later. well....i didn't recieve an email but just checked my status page and got in!!!!!!!

Quick question: does the matriculation form/fee lock us into VCU? I know it must be completed within 2 weeks, but I feel like it can be refunded if necessary.

Yes, your money is refunded if you withdraw from the school later. Make sure you fill it out before the 2 week deadline, because they have the right to give your spot away if you don't pay the fee and fill out the form.
 
Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me what a post-interview rejection from VCU looks like (email vs. snail vs. status change)?
I interviewed 11/28 and have gotten nothing but the survey so far. . . Just getting a little nervous since some people after me (11/29) have been reviewed and got the hold message.
Can someone ease my anxious mind?

Adcom members cannot always attend every meeting. If your reviewer was absent, you would not be reviewed. Give it some more time. Especially with the holidays, people may leave town and it can slow the process down. I interviewed in October and it was 3.5 weeks before I was notified of post-interview hold.

i interviewed 10/30 and got the hold message couple weeks later. However, my status didn't change on 12/15. What does that mean?

yea i interviewed on 10/31 and got the same thing... i think it means post interview hold... we have to wait until feb...😱

nope. they say that they'll only notify us if we get accepted, rejected, blah blah blah..... but post interview hold is kinda like a waitlist...🙂

It just means that your priority score wasn't below the cutoff for the 12/15 acceptance date. If your score is below the cutoff, you get accepted. If it's above the cutoff, you wait some more.

Yes, it's a post-interview hold, but it's a hold that everyone gets. Everyone goes interview --> hold --> acceptance/rejection/waitlist.
