Based on a few profiles I looked at from last cycle, it took about 2.5 months after the interview just to be under review by a committee member. In the interview email it mentioned that a final decision would be made within 6-8 weeks, in total, after the interview. Is this to be expected or does it depend?

I just interviewed here. They told us that as of now, it'll take only 6 weeks for them to reach a decision and get back to us. But, she said in a little while (I'm assuming a few weeks more of interviewing) they're going to start getting a little backed up, and then it's going to take longer and longer for a final decision to be reached.

Thanks for the info! I have my interview on Thursday, so based on what they told you it should take about the same amount of time to make the decision. I still don't really understand the whole essay thing? Do they give you a sheet of paper with a prompt when you arrive and you just write it when you get a chance or what? I've heard different things regarding its importance. Any info?

Basically. There are 2-3 or three different prompts. You get one and have a little more than a half page to write a response over the course of the day. Trust, there is more than enough free time for you to get this done. There's actually a lot of free time where everyone awkwardly sits in the conference room.

Now, how important is this? I have no idea. I asked my student interviewer and he said that it's usually only used as a tie-breaker. Or, if you put something dumb and clearly wrong (i.e. choosing to do something unethical without just cause) it'd count heavily against you. Other than that, it didn't seem too important.

And yeah, it should still be a 6 week turn-around for you.

Good luck!!!

Anyone looking to switch interview dates? I'm looking for an earlier date. I signed up yesterday for January 9th (it was the earliest left). Thanks!

If you interview early, wouldn't it make sense that you hear back before 6 weeks?

My status just changed to: "A final decision has been reached and a letter will be mailed to your preferred address"

Ahhhhhhh

Yes if you interviewed in the first two weeks I have it on good confidence that they sent out decisions yesterday via snail mail. So be on the lookout today-monday depending on where in the country you live!

same..I can't believe some schools insist on snail mailing. it's so unreliable....and, and SLOW! :smack:

Just got back from my interview. My faculty interview was at the hospital and was reallllly fast. I was out of there in like 15-20 mins for some reason. That's with me asking questions and everything. I talked with a few others who had the same interviewer and they said it was really fast for them too, so hopefully its nothing personal lol. Unfortunately, I didn't get the tour because I was at my interview. Does anyone know how much weight the student interview has? I feel like I connected with the student that interviewed me. The essay was a common sense prompt so no worries about that.

idk about drexel but at most schools the student interviewer has just as much weight as the faculty.

i just checked and have that message as well 🙁
does anyone know if this is just a nice way of saying you will be rejected later, or has anyone received an interview after having this message?

thanks,
x

I would like to know this as well as I received this message too

My understanding from previous posts is that they send mail for any of the three options: accepted, rejected, or waitlisted.

Come on Mr. Postman.

I realize most people up here are waiting for acceptances, but what is the turn around time between being complete and being invited to interview? I've been complete in September and have yet to hear?

I was complete right around 8/24 and got the interview invite on 9/10

do people who get placed on hold pre-interview ever get an interview invite?

I'll put it this way: If your student interviewer gives you a low score, you're done.

the wait is KILLING ME...years are coming off my life. damn this process

Is "On hold" the same thing as "No decision is currently available. Please continue checking this website for updates"? I never got a "complete" email, but my supplemental was received on Sept 10th. Thoughts?

I interviewed the same week as you and mine has said since last week that a decision has been made and they will email me. Perhaps your interviewer couldn't make it to the committee meeting that week? I wouldn't worry about it!

Umm... I never got a complete e-mail either, but submitted my supplemental 8/24, and got my interview invite 9/30. I don't think it means a hold. I'm pretty sure thats what my status said before I got the interview invite. good luck! :luck::luck:

I just looked through the 2008-09 thread... there were quite a lot of people who interviewed in october and november who didn't hear back for a good 3-4 months. Pretty disheartening. But there were also people who heard back in 4 weeks like they tell you on interview day. I'm just going to put this school out of my mind and just wait for a pleasant (hopefully) surprise in the mail by Febuary of next year, lol.

No. I had the no decision message and now I have the hold message. They are different. I think the no decision message just means that they haven't reviewed your file.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I wouldn't get my hopes up either.

Saqrfaraj, you kind of are negative with the applicants. And when you, yourself, were waitlisted at Drexel, it's just surprising.

Anyway - for those of you applying, I was on pre-interview hold when I applied a few years ago. I knew I really wanted to go to drexel so I sent an LOI before I even interviewed. I got taken off of pre-interview hold and then I was interviewed, then accepted 4 weeks later.

If you're really interested in Drexel, or any school, send a really genuine letter of interest. Schools can read through the BS so I would definitely suggest not sending the same LOI everywhere. But if there is a school you're really into, and you're on pre-interview hold, or waitlist, send an e-mail LOI. I can't speak for other schools, but from my experience, it really helps at Drexel to show a genuine interest there.

Good luck yall

The last time I checked for interview dates, they were booked all the way till almost the end of December. Does this mean that they've pretty much handed out a majority of their interviews?

Hey, I'm just being honest. I give realistic advice because that's what I would have wanted as an applicant. I'd rather have the hard truth than be strung along by false hopes.

The fact of the matter is, a pre-interview hold is a lot different than an interview followed by a waitlist. A lot of people get in off the waitlist, but the same can't be said for pre-interview holds.

It's great to hear that a LOI worked for you, but there are no guarantees in this process. If you look back at my post history, you'll see that I always support sending a LOI.

Most schools interview well into March (maybe even beyond) so I doubt it.

Drexel interviews at least into April, if my memory serves me. You've still got plenty of time to get that invite.

This is my on-hold message: " Thank you for your application. Your file has been reviewed and will be re-evaluated later in the season for a final decision. " Yours must be pre-review message.

I don't think they sent out a complete email. Look at the Application Summary chart (webpage before you see the message), and one line should say "Application Status: Complete"

Has anyone whose status has changed gotten their notification letter yet? I'm getting weary of listening for the mail slot flap to hit every afternoon. It's an anticipation level equivalent to some algebraic sum of every holiday that exists.

so what do people think, are we getting letters tomorrow??

Does anyone know how far Drexel is backed up in terms of sending out interview invites? I've been complete for a month, and no news yet...

I'm guessing they might be a bit; I've been complete almost 5 weeks and still no decision. Gah! Anticipation is driving me nuts - and in the middle of 7 midterms! I won't be surprised to end up in Bellevue by the time this is over

Does a snail mail letter mailed to you pre-interview mean rejection???

I called last week and the guy at the desk in the admissions office said that all the letters for the people who interviewed before the 15th were going to be mailed on the 15th... regardless of outcome. Hope that helps

I called yesterday and the admissions office said that no decision letters had been mailed yet... I spoke to a woman...

Which one is it? I am leaning towards havent been mailed yet... but weird that both of you called and got conflicting information.

I guess they haven't been mailed yet. I spoke to the person on the phone before the 15th, so I guess they wanted to send it out on the 15th but got delayed as the new information suggests.
