I'm sure no one is that interested....but I called yesterday and admissions said the committee should be meeting next week regarding my application, which means I may have a final decision in less than 20 weeks :xf:

Were they nice when you called?? I'm thinking about calling at the upcoming 10 week mark....I can't believe you had to wait that long! Did you status change?

Please let us know if you call. Its 8.5 weeks for me...

Hang on, so you're saying that you got accepted without first getting a background check email?

Yep. So far, no email.

The acceptance letter stated specifically, "...background screening will be completed through Certiphi Screening, Inc. - A Vertical Screen Company."

Considering that I have had numerous background checks in the past, I imagine I will be contacted to fill out some form either via email or USPS.

Anyhow, I guess the take home message from me would be: don't stress out about not having gotten an email prior to status change or letter arrival.

Best of luck, everyone!

10 weeks here and still no word.........I'm really hoping for a yes!👍

Very doubtful. Drexel is still accepting people directly after interviews.

I called asking about the wait list a couple weeks ago. The guy told me that don't expect to hear back anything at least til May or that you may not hear anything at all.

How late does Drexel Interview? Still waiting for one.

Their website says they'll be interviewing until the end of April. I don't know, however, how late they'll be sending invites. I would imagine that invites probably go out at least 3 weeks ahead of time, so their last invites will probably be going out by the end of this month and maybe a few more in the first few days of April but that's just speculation.

Makes sense. Thanks!

Dumb question but does anyone know if we can bring family to accepted students day or is it just for the students.....

Got a final decision update last thursday 3/11 and still no letter...this thing better come in tomorrow or im gonna go crazy!

To everyone on pre-interview hold:

I'll be blunt. Don't expect to hear back. You need to take the next step.

Your hold signifies that they're not sure whether or not to extend you an interview invite. So tell then why they should give you a shot. Be proactive: send an update, interest letter, etc.

Persistence is key. The interview season goes on for another few months so there's still hope.

Good luck.

Do you know if they reject applicants before putting them on pre-interview hold, or is everyone put on hold that is not offered an interview the first time through?

Yes, Drexel does reject applicants pre-interview without first giving them a hold. I don't know the likelihood of this scenario compared to a pre-interview hold, but it does occur. I recall that at least a few people on this thread have experienced it.

i got the "A decision has been reached and a letter will be mailed to a preferred address." status today. Did any one figure out the difference between that status and the " a final decision has been reached" status. I hope its not a rejection or waitlist!

Got the "final decision will be mailed" status today, Interviewed 1/12.

I was accepted and my status was ' a FINAL decision...'. It took about 10 days to get Certiphi email after AMCAS background email (for those interested)

Are there any other 1/9 interview ppl out there stuck on:

"Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University."?

interview 1/9
committee 2/12
decision 3/19

yea did anyone ever figure out the semantics of a decision vs a FINAL decision?

i got "a decision has been reached and a letter will be mailed to a preferred address..."

from what i saw from this years and last years thread a final decision has been reached means you got in or you are rejected. and a decision has been made seems to mean waitlist

My files has been under review by the committee for the past couple weeks.
Today, my status reads: Thank you for your application. For us to evaluate your file, we still need some information. We will contact you by mail or e-mail to let you know what information we still need from you to complete your application.

Has anybody ever gotten this message? And at this point in the process?

Pre or post interview??

They were nice when i called at the 15 week mark and at the 18 week mark, but at the 15 week mark they just said they are backed up and to keep waiting, so Im assuming you may not get much of a response.

P.S. My new status!!!!!!!
Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University.

My favorite part: "to Drexel of University."

This makes me believe that these statuses are updated/written manually.... So the difference between someone having "final decision" and just "decision" is due to a typing difference in the person who enters them.

I'm not sure about that because mine also says "to Drexel of University".

Interviewed on 1/9
Final decision on 3/19

I live in Philly, so hopefully the letter will not take very long. Come on "YES"!!!!

how big is the waitlist pool? Do they accept many applicatns from WL or am i just doomed

Is everyone getting email updates letting them know of the status changes or is everyone checking their status on a daily basis?

Ok... so I am a little confused by Drexel's status system.... as is everyone else by the looks of it. Let me start by saying I interviewed on 1/5. Currently, my application status says "complete" (which it has from the day I submitted my secondary app) and my decision still says:

"Your interview has been scheduled. If you've appeared for the interview, please allow 6 - 8 weeks for a final decision."

Has anyone else had to wait 10+ weeks post-interview for any type of status change? I'm moderately concerned that I am looking in the wrong place.

I'm checking mine on a daily basis, but I haven't heard anything yet!

You are looking in the right place, they just haven't updated your status. I guess Drexel is just incredibly backed up.

Keep in mind that most schools don't have 12,000 applications to go through. The fact that they are taking longer than other schools to get back to you probably means they aren't half-assing the review process.

More like 1800 interviews to review. Still a lot though.

Same boat as you. I don't think anybody really has the answer to that. It's hard to predict since every year is different. Just gotta wait it out.

Agreed. I'd tell you all if I knew. Waitlists are mysterious things, and they're highly variable from year to year. Honestly, you can hope for movement, but you can't count on it. That's how it's always going to be.

Good luck to you guys. Keep the faith.

I'm only at about 4-5 weeks post interview and my status hasn't changed from "Your interview has been scheduled."

How are you all keeping such calm heads about this? Anyway, all these days since I interviewed, I've been fretting, but after reading all these posts, I feel somewhat better.

I applied to medical school last year and didn't get in... I guess the second time you get better at waiting long long long periods of time.

How do I go about withdrawing my acceptance for Drexel? Has anyone else done it? I'd like to give my seat up to one of you guys out there on the waitlist or still waiting for the acceptance!

does anyone know if drexel ranks their waitlist, when they start pulling people off, and any ideas on how many people get pulled off?

I think I've read somewhere that emailing the admin office should take care of that ([FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][email protected]). Hopefully your spot goes to someone on here!

i interviewed about 6 wks ago, and my status is also still "your interview has been scheduled." i would be so much happier if it would at least change to "your file is with a member of the committee" so i would know it's not just lost in some dusty corner. i'm more concerned because i had a make-up interview on an off-day (due to snowstorm #2); there was only one other interviewee there with me, and my interview appointment screen is still showing my original interview date, not the date i actually interviewed, so i don't even know if my file's made it into line to be reviewed, lol.

I had similar situation (some confusion with interview dates). I called and the lady was really nice - she checked and confirmed that my file is in place. Couple of days later my status changed to "your file is with a member of the committee". Now its more then 5 weeks "with member...", hopefully will go to the commetee this week.

I think you should call and ask. GL
