hmm . . . although i submitted a primary, i was having second thoughts about doing the secondary. Emory is a definite reach for me. but the above quote does make me feel better.

is it worth it? do i have a shot in hell?

go for it, you'll never know unless you give it a shot. what's another $100 secondary fee? 🙄

to everyone else worrying about their application being complete, i can understand your frustration, but take a deep breath and read my earlier post.

Finally complete today... submitted 8/27. Maybe we'll all get a consolation interview for waiting so long.

I feel you - I submitted 8/27 as well and have not gotten a complete email or status update...time to e-mail!

Can anyone who has received an interview invite recently let us know when he/she became complete? I'm just wondering what the process has slowed down to.

Thanks!

hey guys. for everyone who submitted over 2 weeks ago and are still waiting for a complete email, i just called the admissions office and they said that the wait time is now 3 weeks because of the volume of applications that they've received. however, if you don't hear back a couple days after the 3 week mark, give them a call to see what's up.

i submitted 8/26, and still waiting... the lady was very friendly and said i should be getting something by the middle of next week.

This would be fine and all if they actually processed them in order of submission. But instead they backed up the ones that arrived first and started processing new arrivals as they came. It's like the INS.

😛

so, i don't know if it was a coincidence, but a couple hours after i called their office, i got my complete status. calling or emailing might be worth a try to see if it will speed things up for those of us who got shafted by their random review order.

mine was completed today too, I didn't call them or anything. So I guess it will happen for the rest of you...eventually.

same here, was finally verified a few minutes ago (no calls on my part).

I was complete only 3 days after submitting (submitted on August 30th)...but I still haven't heard anything about an interview. Looks like not too many interview invites have gone out, though.

Submitted three weeks ago. I called earlier and the lady marked my application as complete.

Now the waiting begins. 🙂

Should I submit my secondary to Emory with a 3.3cGPA and 29Q MCAT or is it a waste of my time and $100? Opinions are welcome...

Honestly, I think it's a waste of time unless you've got some amazing story behind you...

I mean, I'm debating whether it's a waste of time and money for me, especially this late in the cycle.

You should definitely apply! It is not as late as SDN makes it seem. Especially for Emory, which posted the secondary only a month ago. I applied to Pritzker a week ago and just got an interview invite, so its never too late if you are a good candidate and fit for the school.

Hrm...I dunno though. Low GPA remember...

Same -- invite today. Sent 8/28, Complete 9/11 OOS. Coming 10/23. See you in ATL.

Just received an interview invite for 10/26. I submitted on 8/26 and was complete on 8/31.

Go for it! I had similar stats, my GPA might have been a little lower and I'm here.

ps--I LOVE it!

emory already has 4000 applicants, you are late by any standards

Hooray for Emory. Invite today, complete 8/25.

I got an invite today, for a really crappy day, maybe if I get into some other schools on the 16th I will cancel this interview.

For those who got invites today, would you mind sharing when you were complete?

so.. how have the interviews been going to so far. im going on the 19th. so i was wondering if someone could share their experiences? 🙂

TRUE P/F is a huge plus
it was the bomb. seriously.

if you get a chance, make sure you hang around the Darkhorse in VA highlands for a bit. Its a good time.

just got my invite, sooo excited! i'll have to reschedule the day though, does anyone know what days of the week they do interviews?

I got the complete email 9/3. 3.6/35Q OOS, but I'm a senior at Emory (not sure if they take that into account one way or the other)

to make the long story short, i just got complete 10/9. 4.0/34Q. I know it's getting late in the cycle (and apparently many people have been invited for interviews already), but what do yall think about my chances at emory?

thanks

is it really safe to judge a school's interviewing activity based on how much the school is discussed on this forum

it's not too late, go for it, you have nothing to lose

This thread is pretty short so I feel like maybe that many interviews haven't gone out. Maybe?

emory only started interviewing 9/25 and has had 4 interview days with 18 interviewees on each day so far. you do the math

complete 9/2 and oos. Want to hear from this one. Not a lot of interviews yet for Emory? Btw how was interviews for people that went?

interview invite! complete 9/23...anyone else interviewing on 11/13?

have interviewed at 7 top 25 schools.. emory was one of my two favorites, the other being vandy. grady hospital seems like a great place for clinical experience (hands on exp) as a medical student. it is hardcore--you will see, the complete opposite of the northwestern hospital. the students seemed way down to earth compared to other schools of a similar caliber--zero arrogance and the P/F grading means they party. the facilities are very nice. and ATL is legit. panel interview seemed incredibly short--30 minutes means 10 minutes per interviewee. obviously if you're interested in the MPH this is a great place to do it. there is pretty good student housing within a very short bus ride of the medical school. i definitely would recommend getting a student host they were very nice. they are sponsored by coke so be prepared to drink a lot of it.

Congrats on the interview invite! Was that your original assigned date, or did you reschedule it?

i had an amazinginly fun time!!! man! i love closed file interviews...

Anybody interviewing October 30th? I'm really excited, but also getting nervous.

For those who have already interviewed, would you mind sharing your experiences/impressions?

The admissions staff is very nice. Lots of students stopped by during the day to chat. The facilities are incredible. The med school building is basically brand new.

You will have two interviews, one is one on one and the other is three on three. The group one is pretty easy because it's only about 30 min long so only about 10 min is spent on each student and you have time to think while the others are talking. The one on one is a bit worse. I had some questions like " what was the most profound day of your life".

Overall it's an amazing school and I would love to attend.
