2009-2010 Grad School Interview Invite Thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
soo I know people have gotten invites, and I know people have been rejected via the application website. I haven't heard on either front-- anyone else on this boat? I know their first interviews are this weekend but i called and the secretary said there might be more later.

it means they still want to keep their options open. i haven't heard from any of the 10 schools either way.

if people start declining, professors will still try to fill the position, contacting new people.

Hey all you Canadian Applicants,

Just as an update:

I had a phone interview for SFU last week

But I am still waiting to hear anything from:

YORK
OISE
UBC

Anyone have any news to share?

Good luck to all!

If anyone successfully resched. an interview with Florida, please PM or post. I've been hearing mixed results, which seems odd.

I tried to reschedule my interview but was told that they were not rescheduling for anyone. Best I can hope for is an invitation to meet my POI in person after our (hopefully awesome!) phone interview...

Also had a phone interview with SFU last week. Just got an interview at Ryerson with my POI, still waiting on York

SDN'ers-

I e-mailed Nova about the status of my app and they said they are still in the process of reviewing applications. Invites will be sent out 2 weeks prior to interviews. Interviews are set for the first 2 Monday's in March. I hope they will care to interview me :xf:

On another note, has anyone heard from GWU PhD program??

+ me too.

I also received the dreaded waitlisted-for-interview e-mail from DePaul (clinical community track.) It was my first semi-rejection, other than the Berkeley you-didn't-get-an-interview one.

Has anyone heard anything about NYU's Counseling program? The application was due 12/15, so I'd expect they'd at least have their interview dates available somewhere.

I've heard from UVic, Queen's and Waterloo.

Has anyone heard anything from Ottawa? And if so, was it from a POI?

Thanks!

Was this for the PhD or PsyD program?

Silly Question: Does SFU= South Florida University?

If so, are they doing phone interviews or was this just a 'pre-interview' phone conversation ?

Finally updated! So sorry for the delay and congrats to all!

Thanks for the update! I've just found/joined SDN today, really appreciate everyone's contributions and hopefully I can do so too.

South Florida is usually abbreviated as USF (University of South Florida). I think that SFU is Simon Fraser University.
USF is sending out invites on Friday. I'm 99% sure that their interviews are held in person if possible.
Hope that helps!

Also, like many others on here, I didn't hear from Feinberg either 🙁
But there are still some open-ended questions! Here's what I'm still waiting on:
USF
Wisconsin-Madison
U of Rochester
UNC-Charlotte (Health Psych with a Clinical Track)

Anyone else?

Hi Kat, did you hear from your POI at Queen's and UVic? For Vic, would you mind saying whether it was the LD or Neuro stream? Thanks and congrats on the interviews 🙂

Rochester sent out invites last week... (its listed on the first page of the thread). I haven't heard either but I don't know if they'll be sending out more. Good luck!

Ottawa will take their time, just letting you know. Possibly mid-late Feb.

Nothing yet from UBC, UCalgary. OISE will be LATE... UofT takes their time.

Also SFU = Simon Fraser U. not south FLorida.

Thanks - good catch! I somehow missed that one. Wishful thinking? It is, however, "invite" - as in, singular. Are there others who have heard from Rochester? Do we have any official updates from those who have called/emailed?

Thanks!
And congrats to all who keep getting good news! 👍

I second this request.

If you have received an phone interview invite for University of Washington child track, I would really appreciate it if you would PM me. And of course I can say mine and you can say yes or no if you prefer.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone.
It's my first time posting on this thread, but I have been following it for the past few days.
I just wanted to let you all know that I called University of Washington, and they told me there will be more invites going out, and they were certainly not done yet. However, they were not sure about when this will happen.

all the best to everyone

Thank you! (and yay!)

Anyone know about University of South Florida? I saw somewhere someone said invites Friday.....is that true?

Also, haven't heard from University of Houston or Cincinnati University

I just called UIUC, and they told me the faculty will meet by the end of the week to make decisions (this is the Clinical track), but they might not make their final decisions then. However, on the first page of this thread, it seems like someone has received a call from their POI. Ashley, the secretary, told me they still haven't accepted anyone, and that there will be no interviews held. It seems like they just accept people and invite some to visit the campus. So how is it possible that someone has received a call from their POI? does anyone know?

Thanks

I'm getting SOOO nervous for South Florida! They are for sure in my top 2! Seems like it's a popular program as many of you also applied :scared:! Fri is going to be a stressful day! Good luck to those waiting with me!

I received the call from my POI last week. It was a phone interview. UIUC has a different admissions process - but similar to Harvard and Yale they do phone interviews with top finalists and then do a visiting weekend once admitted. There is some stuff in between there that my POI explained to me, but I can't find the paper where I wrote it all down.

Edit: I'm the 1/27 person. As for user who heard on 1/25- I would guess that they meant phone interview invite as well.

has anyone heard about yeshiva's clinical program? i checked their site and it says they do interviews starting january.. anyone hear anything?

I had my interview on Monday but I know that they plan to have 6 interview days total so I don't think all their invites have gone out yet....

I received a phone call from Widener today telling me that a spot opened up for their 2/10 interview date and asking if I'd like to come. I'm not sure if this is a good sign (i.e. they were planning to invite me for a later interview date but snatched me up as soon as a spot opened up so they could get me in sooner) or a bad sign (i.e. I wasn't even on the list of people to have interview invites but I was on some sort of back-up list). Best to not think too much about it, I guess! Either way, having an interview is not a bad thing 🙂

Hey, I actually PMed futureapppsy2 with this info, but for some reason it wasn't posted.

I got an email on 1/29 to come in for an interview on 2/25. This is for the combined school/child clinical psych PsyD.

Hope that helps!

American University interview invite received on 2/3/10 by the department secretary. The interview is on 2/19. :O)

As a hopeful Widener applicant, having applied early yet heard nothing, I'm taking this as an encouraging development. Thanks for posting!

Being invited for an interview should never be thought of as anything other than a good sign! Do not hold grudges if you are not the first pick, that is just the nature of being involved in such a competitive process. Just remember, the number ahead of you is much, much smaller than the number behind. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that would love to be in your shoes...

by the way, i dont think this is a bad thing at all. they probably were going to invite you to the interview date that i got invited to, and then bumped you up because they liked you! best of luck next wednesday!! YAY!
In general, is it considered worse for your chances to interview at the later date?

i really don't know. widener has four interview days that they posted on their website. i assumed they do it in groups. like the first group is for those who have the best credentials, second group for next best, etc. i could be wrong, but thats what i thought. either way, i don't care, as long as they invited me for an interview!! i wouldn't care if it was on their fourth date! i'm just thrilled to be invited 🙂

I think the NYU Counseling is posted on the first page. The interview is for 2/12, and I think they decide later that day who they're going to accept and who goes on the waitlist. sorry for the bad news 🙁

I would love to hear from UNC-Charlotte's health program! For a Dec 1st deadline, they're sure taking their time! I checked the online status, and it hasn't changed to reflect any sort of decision.
