2009-2010 Grad School Interview Invite Thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have heard that UC is pretty late in letting people know about interviews, and their interview date(s) are also later in the season. Since their application deadline was Jan. 5th, it is likely they're just taking a while. I would keep waiting...

YAY! Congrats for you! That is super exciting. Wow!
I hope that in a few hours, I'll have a similar post. That's funny that you included the bit about your last name.... I was just thinking that mine starts with a W so I'll probably be last! Good luck all Feinberg hopefuls, and congrats again Clinicalpsyapp!!

Just got my invite for Feinberg (via phone from POI... or at least I assume it was a POI?). Same info. as the first poster about it (i.e., interviews 02/26, 03/05, 03/12). My last name is in the q-t range (I don't want to be too specific). Also, I can't give info about POI or who called... I was caught so off guard I didn't quite catch their name 😀.

Got my 4th interview invite today...this one was from Long Island University via phone call from a graduate student. My excitement was soon tempered by a rejection from one of my top schools, University of Kentucky....oh well.

I have a general question. If you assume that I have decent social skills and interview reasonably well (and yes I plan on preparing for my interviews), how many interview invites do you look for to assure that you will get into at least one program? I understand that some people might think this question is unanswerable or say "it depends" because some people get 8 invites and get accepted nowhere and others get an acceptance off of one invite. But these are certainly the exceptions and not the rule. So generally speaking what's the magic number for interview invites? At one point, can you feel seriously confident that you will get into at least one?

Thanks!

I'm still waiting to hear from U. of Arizona! Please post again if/when you hear anything.

I received an interview, but unfortunately I have to opt to do it over the phone rather than traveling to Vermillion. I'm incredibly disappointed, but the cost of flights was absolutely staggering on top of another very expensive interview, and there's just no way I could swing it. I've been dying to see the campus and meet my POI, but alas, there's just absolutely no way I can make it happen. 🙁 Hopefully the phone interview will go decently well, though I know it reduces my chances.

If you feel like reporting back afterwards and telling me what the campus is like, that would be awesome!! Good luck to you.

stole the words right out of my mouth 🙁

Has anyone heard from:

Rosalind Franklin
Western Michigan
Xavier

Thanks! 🙂

to all you feinberg hopefuls...

please do not be discouraged if you did not receive a phone call today. i spoke to the admissions assistant today who informed me that phone calls would be made today AND tomorrow.

keep your fingers crossed, best of luck, and congrats to all those who got invites today!

Still waiting to hear from:

Texas SouthWestern (Clinical)
Wichita State (Clinical)
Nova (Clinical)
Utah State (Combined)
Colorado state (Counseling)

Is anyone else waiting to hear from the University of Arizona or University of Cincinnati (clinical Ph.D.)?

I am! I'm fairly certain that Arizona's interviews are the weekend of Feb 19-20, and last year it looks like people were being contacted by POIs in the third week of January. So I'm not holding my breath, although it's a little weird that no one on this forum has gotten an invite.

I emailed the grad coordinator at UC last Wednesday, and she said that their interviews will be on Feb 26 and that they're still reviewing files. At least for neuro people, I'm betting that they will give invites after INS.

I heard from Xavier today. Their interview date is Feb. 19th

Hi-
I guess there is hope concerning Feinberg as people said they are calling tomorrow. Also, my name is in the latter part of what somebody said their last name was so here is to hoping for the best. If not I got an interview at my second choice school so all is not lost.

Sorry to be dense, but what does INS mean?

Yes, they e-mailed me and then said that they would send out more information later this week.

It seems that all of my schools have sent out all their invites for interviews except for UAB- Birmingham (Medical/Clinical psych). Has anyone by chance called them or e-mailed them? I would love to hear what they said about interviews. I'm getting so nervous............

To all who applied to UCF.

I called the program today; the lady said that the first interview date has passed and the faculty will be meeting mid-February to decide if they want to invite more people for an interview. So there may still be hope!

I called Utah State's combined program, and they're still reviewing applications. They said they'd give their interview invites soon, with the hope of interviewing at the end of this month. Hope that helps!

Has anyone heard one way or the other about the community clinical track?

I emailed the Program Assistant yesterday and she stated that emails were sent out a week ago and many people have had trouble getting them. She said I was sent one but never received it, I was unfortunately placed on the waitlist so here's hoping I get off.... 😕

Has anyone been in contact with SUNY Albany?

I called yesterday, as far as they said invites have not gone out. Interviews will be held two days, I believe one of them was March 3rd. I still want Hofstra the POI there and me are really great match. Hoping that the secretary is taking her sweet time, as every time I call she's not it.

Interview invite number 2!! 🙂

Received call from POI for University of Maryland-Baltimore County' HSP (Clinical track) program. Calls from POI's should be coming this week. Good luck everyone. Interview set for 2/19

I haven't heard from them! According to their e-mail, they should be contacting us by the end of this week (Feb 5th). Interviews are scheduled for March 1st (suggest that you come on Feb 28th. Hope that helps a little. Good luck!

Hello! Can all of the lucky feinber, sdsu/ucsd, and uncg invite people PM me with your POI please? Thanks in advance!

What updates did you get re: Hofstra? I have not been able to find out anything and I saw from an earlier post that someone did receive invite...this process is painful!

Ah, Ryerson sent an email this morning asking about CIHR. I was so excited to see the email, but it was just a followup.. Ugh.

I'm waiting for clinical-community, too. I emailed the program administrator, but no one has gotten back to me yet. I'm getting impatient. This is one of my top choices!!!

I would also like to know what INS means. And I hope UC sends the invites soon! Feb 26 is so close and airfare gets more expensive as it gets closer. :scared:
