i went to the status page for you it just tells you that you paid and submitted the secondary. As for your LOR's you are suppose to send them to AMCAS and they download it from there. That is the best way then you will know that they have access to it all they have to do is download them

Has anyone received an interview invite from Meharry yet?
 
Is where is says pending conformation? Will that change to confirmed when all necessary are complete?

I received an e-mail notifying me that my app was complete and going to committee for review.
 
My friend is considering applying to Meharry, but doesn't know about his chances...
He's white (middle eastern), disadvangated (economically), 3.4 GPA, 3.3 science GPA, low 20s MCAT....
is it likely he will get in?
 
Has he done a lot of communtiy service and does he have a commitment to serve the underserved? And he needs to look at what kind of communtity service is it with the underserved or your typical volunteering at a hospital? meharry mission is not only to increase the diversity of doctors but also a commitment to serve the underserved.

Let's be honest, girlspower... he should probably bring up his MCAT, especially if he isn't an URM
 
Not much activity in the Meharry thread ... I truly believe in a lifelong dedication to service. But I'm asian. Should I not bother with this secondary? It seems like my chances are pretty damn low looking at the numbers (self reported ethnicities). They even say "founded to teach african american physicians, nurses, and dentists" on their homepage. People here can talk about life experiences all you want and whether you believe in helping the underserved. But the numbers are undeniable. Which is why I am so hesitant to give them my $65 when they are going to laugh at my app.

hmm, doesn't look like there is a word limit. Can anyone corroborate?
 
i asked about the essay i was told one to two I did about one and ahlf. I think you should be more concerned about answering the question and not a word limit since they do not give one but I don't give a life story😉

Does anyone know if we are supposed to mail a copy of the FAP waiver? My application status says pending payment confirmation so I'm not sure if I had to send it in. Their instructions just said to check fee waiver on the payment page.
 
You should call and ask because I thought you have to send it as proof after checking it but when in doubt ask🙂

Hey guys! Can you give me an idea of about how long it took for them to send you the email saying you were complete? I submitted my secondary last Friday and I still haven't received any notification saying that I am complete. 😳

It took longer than a few days.

It took them a little under 2 weeks for me. I think it's different for everyone...

I strongly urge you to apply. I got accepted last yr. Our class is roughly 80% aa and rest from other ethnicities (i'm aa and one of my best friend here is asian). One thing I will tell you about the admissions process is that they look at your WHOLE APPLICATION. So if you have a good history of community service and can show your dedication to serving any underserved pop. (not only in US) but in other countries, IT WILL BE A BIG PLUS for you. They want people that will be commited to the meharry misson (read it if you haven't, they will ask you about it if they invite you for an interview). More than 70% of meharry graduates serve in underserved communities in the states and around the world.

I know the admissions commitee has already began meeting, (they have received over 1700 applications). The earlier you apply, the better. I wish you best of luck.

took me a day after I received the complete email...but this was a couple weeks ago and my letters and everything were already ready from AMCAS
 
just to double check we dont have to mail in anything here do we?! like pics, etc?!
 
I just called meharry today they send out invites in October.
 
wow that's so late...I guess that's one less school I can stop checking my inbox for every 10 minutes 😱

If we all become classman I hope that we are gonna be liver than this. October is next week so when those interviews start rolling in we are happier than this I hope that you are at least getting other interviews Good Luck and laugh this is our last year of freedom
 
lol yeaaah...I guess when ppl start getting interviews they'll be more talkative. I know I'm just too anxious waiting to hear back. Don't worry tho...they have a lot of fun from what I saw, my really good friend goes to school here and I visited him this summer.

Is it october yet?!!!? Geez, I'm really disappointed they don't give out invites until soooo late. Schools start giving out acceptances in october. This process is definitely teaching me a LOT about patience. Good luck to everyone though, hopefully we will all hear back good news shortly (if not currently from other places)...all I need is one acceptance (more would be lovely tho of course)!!

yeah it is! school is about 8 minutes from my house...but I'm in school in VA right now so I have to travel back.

wow at least the cost is low for you since you can stay at home for the interview I am in MIA and my first intervieww is 15 min away. and the sec is 3to 4 hours away. Do you like VA
 
So I sent a letter of interest to the school..hoping this might help my chances out...the response I received..PRE-INTERVIEW HOLD..😡..Oh well Meharry..thought I would at least be able to get an interview
 
How is that bad its a hold before the interview that sounds good so they started sending out invites I thought they said oct 😕
 
It's not good for me b/c in the email it said they would look at my app. again after reviewing the entire applicant pool..so that's y it sucks..

When you're sending your letter of interest, what's the best approach? I've always preferred professional cardstock (letterpressed) in thank you notes and such to be memorable.. but for a letter of interest? Snail mail? Email? What's the consensus?

It's just what it says really...sending a letter to the school talking about how much you want to go there. However, with Meharry I'm pretty sure a letter of interest at this point wouldn't really include anything that I didn't already put in my secondary since their prompt was basically "Why do you want to come here?". I could see how this would be more helpful at other schools that a. didn't have any secondary questions or b. had questions that were too limited to exactly include why you specifically wanted to attend. I also had been told it was best to send letters of interest post-interview but who knows...or if a school told you that you were on hold or something and encouraged you to update them w/ information. UCONN put me on hold (and told me to update them with info) and they will certainly be hearing from me until I get an interview!

Also I'm not really sure how they're supposed to be sent. I was thinking of sending via snailmail cuz it's more professional and takes more effort than just sending an email...but I might just do both, mail a letter and email it. It's hard to tell, this cycle more and more schools are only doing stuff electronically so it's hard to say.

and I still haven't seen anywhere of anyone talking about having a Meharry interview already...so either they just aren't posting about it or they haven't given them out yet. Let's hope they really haven't invited anyone yet 🙂 Perhaps the pre-interview hold means they just haven't officially invited anyone yet and right now it doesn't mean the same as it would later on in the process. If they really don't give out invites until October (even if you're likely about to receive one) I don't see why they would tell you earlier that you actually had one if that's when they officially notify people. Hopefully they already have their list of the first batch of people that will be receiving interviews and some of us will be hearing good news VERY shortly...may I reiterate waiting until October is soooooo hard (this was probably the first secondary I completed...)!:scared:
