Happy New Year! You might want to reduce your font size. You can find the information on approximate GPA/MCAT for meharry on the forum if you do little bit of research.

wow..cool. Am guessing you were the one that also interviewed at temple right? did u hear back?

hi everyone,
i'm still waiting. it's been over 8 weeks since i got the complete email and i have yet heard from Meharry. Should I call to check?

Do you have to wait for an email b4 u can fill meharry secondary, do they screen the AMCAS, or u just go ahead n fill the secondary once you receive the AMCAS receipt confirmation...it has been 4 weeks n i didnt receive any email asking me to fill the secondary? any help pliz
 
You should receive an e-mail with a link to the secondary. I received confirmation that my AMCAS was received on and received an e-mail with the link to the secondary (http://www.applyweb.com/apply/meharry/menu.html) one week later. You might want to check on your application, but keep in mind that there was a long break in the past 4 weeks.

I will be withdrawing my acceptance from meharry due to an acceptance at a school closer to home. Good luck to everyone else. I hope that someone gets my spot!🙂
 
Just got back from the 1/11 interview and LOVED the school a lot more than I thought I would 😍😍😍 PM me if you want to ask any questions regarding interview day. I found they have changed the style a bit and some of the things here on SDN are not true.

There are a lot of misconceptions regarding the curriculum so I'll clarify for those who have been reading the interview feedback

1. Mandatory attendance: like one of the med students said, the professors know we are grown people so essentially no one cares about taking attendance. When I walked by the lecture room (which faces the front so everyone knows if you are late:laugh:) there was definitely NOT 90 students in there. So don't worry about this, it's not a big deal and most definitely not everyone comes to class...

2. 8-5 class schedule: this is only for the first semester (fall) of the first year (mainly due to anatomy lab), and it's not like that every day. So don't be afraid of having this long schedule everyday for the first two years. Class time cuts down a lot after the first semester.

3. Starts early in June: the first 6 weeks is a getting used to the school period, you are not even graded on the first 6 weeks. It's basically like a welcome month for new students to get situated with everything.

Anyways I had a lot of fun meeting everyone, it was great to grab a drink at the airport with your guys 🙂 PM me if you were there and want to say hi. I definitely really want to get in now because the school really impressed me. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
 
Ohh and they said they have already accepted ~70 people and they are half way done with interviewing.

I think they generally accept 1.5 times the class siz (~90) and don't worry if you are on the wait list, there is a good chance of coming off as people withdraw. The wait list is not ranked.

Though you guys would want to know.

Congrats, Poet! I'm not freaking out YET, but I have been on this site non-stop checking threads and interview feedback, etc for everything I can find.

Or maybe that IS considered freaking out!! :laugh:

it is :-D. it's my only interview so far, still waiting to hear from a bunch of other schools. this is part of why i'm freaking out! if i had other interviews at least i'd have the luxury of doing better later in the event that i bomb this one haha. right now, it's my only shot. no room for error here :scared:

You're gonna do great. It may be your only, but you're gonna give it your best. Don't think about bombing; if you do you will!! And as everyone keeps telling me, the interview season isn't over, so expect more to come through.

well i am very pleased that i got another interview invite today! so happy! the 15th seems to be my lucky day. i promise i won't bomb either of them. not intentionally at least haha.
 
where is your other invite if you dont mind me asking? Congrats!!! Mondays use to be my lucky day. I was getting invites once a week lol

the one i was talking about in the previous post was nova, then a bit later i got a phone call for an interview at lecom-bradenton. but so far, meharry is my only md interview. which irks my nerves because i finished all my md apps earlier since the deadlines were earlier. yet i'm hearing from do schools merely days after i've completed the secondaries!

jan 21. i figured the sooner the better! but now i'm just even more nervous than i was before. luckily i'm in florida so i don't have to worry about finding a last minute flight. i'll just drive down and get to visit my parents. maybe we should take the nova talk to the nova thread?

Okay so I have been getting quite a bit of emails regarding the interview so I'll just share some info here.

The student interview during lunch I don't think they have anymore. There was not a panel of students, instead there were 1-2 students at each table consisting of 4-6 interviewees. No one took note or anything like that, they were really nice! Very low stress..

Our day ran late so everyone who had a 1:15 interview only had 15 mins instead of 30, that was kind of annoying. Sometimes interviewers get pulled to do other things so don't be surprised if the schedule they give you is not correct.

Regarding the interview, it just all depends on WHO you get! That is what I have been noticing a lot on these interview trips. Some students get nice interviewers who really read your application and really care about you. Others get interviewers who are completely disinterested in what you have to say and really don't give a crap. Questions vary too, some interviewers just want to get to know you. Others drill you with tough questions and seem to want a certain response and can be rude if you say something different. So all you can really do is pray and hope you get someone nice and friendly.

Regarding your stuff the morning of. You can leave it at the front desk of the hotel and they will bring it along with they pick you up. Or you can bring it to the admission's office where they will have a place for you to store it!

Do they send you any sort of complete email? On their website it says my secondary payment was confirmed on 12/04 but I haven't heard anything form them at all. Should I email or call to check my status?

Yes they email you a complete email.

For those of you who interviewed on 1/11, did you receive an email from the AAMC and Certiphi asking for information for a background check??? I guess they only send it out to people who have been waitlisted or accepted, but I haven't heard anything from Meharry yet.

looooooooong long time ago...Meharry was one of the first secondaries I completed and I submitted my AMCAS back in June. I'm pretty sure I was complete here beginning of September because of my MCAT score (definitely past their "8 weeks to hear back" timeline). I submitted the secondary back in August.

Good luck to the rest of you still waiting to hear back from Meharry and other schools this cycle...I definitely thought that I wouldn't be hearing back from them at all let alone anymore interviews into the new year. It really isn't over until it's over. 🙂

Tajuba: Same here(excited and nervous). I see you interviewed here last cycle. What were your interviews like? What was the area like? Why do you think that you did not get in last time?

they told us before christmas or after the holidays
when i call, they tell me to email them but they dont get back to me

POW-- how soon did u hear from them?
