Accepted! Really can't believe it, I thought I did horrible at the interview! N for those wondering about the CBC, I didn't get an email about it, so I don't know what kind of indication it is. But anyway, good luck everyone still waiting!

Congrats!!! I was wondering if you were accepted via snail mail or email.
Would someone be so kind as to tell me if interview invites come via email or via snail mail? Meharry emailed me 3 weeks ago and told me they would let me know about an interview decision "in writing" in 3 weeks (today). So, I was wondering if that meant by email or by snail mail. Thanks so much to anything who could answer this question for me.
I interviewed February 5th and fell in LOVE with the school. I have one other acceptance, but I'm hoping to hear good news soon from Meharry, this is my first choice!!!!!!! Good luck everyone.
Really!? That's awful. The students I met had nothing but great things to say about the school. I also happened to meet two dental students while awaiting my interview. They seemed eager to to talk to us and show us around campus another time (we didn't get a tour because of the rain).Awesome!
No med students tried to deter you from going there? I've read about that happening...😕
I read on someone's MDApps that he had people pull him aside and tell him to go elsewhere if he got in somewhere else, and then I also read last year's thread where at least one current student was very down on the school.
It takes all kinds to make a community, though. Some will love it, some hate it, and the most successful will make the best of it regardless of how they feel about the school, y'know?
I liked the same things you mentioned:I know who you're talking about lol...
This is probably true of most schools. No place is perfect, but it's all about finding which place you'll be happiest at imo (if you're fortunate enough to have options) and not emphasizing the negatives so much. I haven't interviewed yet but from the people I know that attend...I hear the faculty really care about their students and the class seems pretty close. I've always gone to predominately white schools and/or been the only minority in class so it certainly would be a huge change for me. What did you like so much about it perfectpearl?
Awesome!

I have had Alumni, current students and staff tell me not to come to Meharry if I get in somewhere else. Their reason? Inadequate clinical exposure and lack of organization. I also interviewed on Feb. 5th.
I liked the same things you mentioned:
The faculty really care about their students and the class seems pretty close. I don't like the cut-throat competitiveness that is fostered at some other schools I've been to, and Meharry doesn't seem to have that environment. They emphasized being "nurtured, and not spoon-fed" a number of times which I really liked. I too come from a predominately white undergrad, so it would be a nice change to see more people like myself in the classroom with the same goals.
Academically, students do well on the boards and get into competitive residencies in all specialities. Can't deny that I'll be getting the best education!I heard that one year the top scorer on the boards was from Meharry.
Cliche. That is not totally true. A school plays a pivotal role in the quality of education that one gets. Meharry is a great school but they lack in some areas, maybe, due to inadequate resources. Fact!Your success or failure depends on you, you and you only!
That's false! The fact that MMC's mission is to reach the underserved does not mean it trains the under-qualified. I believe Meharry has a more holistic approach of selecting students. There are a lot of Meharry students with high stats.Meharry accepts those who (most, necessarily all) will not have a chance of being accepted in other schools. What is that mean? It means that those students were not competitive to begin with and they were most likely below or slightly above average academically.
Okay, nobody is saying Meharry sucks. It has areas that it needs work on. For other complaints, they came from some very good students, doctors and residents.I have an interview with Meharry scheduled this Friday and If I am offered the opportunity to attend, I will definitely consider them! Whether I choose to attend Meharry or NOT will be for reasons other than the "school sucks," "Meharry is not organized," "the clinical rotations are not that great," bla bla bla...As a 3rd or 4th student, you are free to do rotations to clinical sites that are of your interests for the most part and your hands are not tied to Meharry pre-approved sites only!
YAY! got an interview invite for 3/19!! im soo happy
I will DEF go if I get in bc I love religious schools, and I love the mission. People always tend to think HBCU's are bad just because they are A.A.Well IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, THEN DONT APPLY. you will get out what you put in.
On my interview they said the school is "Methodist Affiliated" which they basically said means that they receive a lot of financial support from the Methodist Church, but few faculty members and students are actually Methodist.YAY! got an interview invite for 3/19!! im soo happy

ahh anyone interview recently get accepted??? I hate running home everyday to check my mailbox and find nothing there 🙁 any news from the late january early february interview groups????
looks like i spoke too soon. waitlist email shortly after my last post lol. that was quick!
It's good that they're pretty fast w/ the whole 2-3 weeks thing but wow a lot of waitlists. 🙁 Do they do post-interview rejections...or have they yet? It seems like I've seen mostly waitlists and acceptances.
I interview next friday and already feel like I'm just interviewing for a spot on the waitlist...
I interviewed that same day Poet Sings and just got waitlisted today as well, so don't feel bad, lol!! 🙂
ACCEPTED YAY!!! First one im ubber excited!!!
yay waitlist boat together. i wonder if we actually met? 😀
on 2/15 there was one interviewer.Strange observation...if you read the beginning of this thread, you will notice that the prospective students in the first half of the cycle have 2 interviewers. On my interview day (yesterday: 2/19), there was 1 interviewer per prospective students. I wonder if this is true for our group only and whether people who interviewed on 2/15 have 1 interviewer as well! If that's the case, should we make anything out of it?
PLUS, fyi, according to Ms. Lewis, Meharry already has accepted 105+ students, their normal class size. Thus, I am not surprised at all that they give out more waiting-list than acceptance in the second half of the admission cycle.
YAY .. waitlist for the 02/15 group🙂 Congrats michigan psych ( I think you were in the afternoon group sitting across the room from me during the audio tour😉 )
In anycase if Im not mistaken during the presentation they mentioned that they accept 2x the number of people into the class. Waitlist a lot more and after April 15th things get moving because as a school that starts in July, they get access to peoples AMCAS choices before the May 15th deadline.
Last point .. I was told there is usually 2 interviewer's and even when I spoke to someone at admissions 2 weeks prior to the interview that is what I was told. The day of the interview I thought we only had 1 interviewer each because of the wonderful weather( the roads were a skating rink).
Anyways, I wish everyone the best of luck and hope to see you there starting July. Yay MAPS?![]()
CONGRATS!!!!!!!ACCEPTED YAY!!! First one im ubber excited!!!
I interviewed 2/5...nothing yetFor those waitlisted, did you recieve the background check email? I interviewed on 2/5. Anybody from my group heard back yet?
Hey ya'll! We can still keep hope alive that we'll be accepted an do our best. I'll be there on friday 2/26. Im staying at the millennuim hotel so anybody who's going to be there we can hang and talk!
