Take kryptonite888's post literally - he says that he was told his app was reviewed, but the "lady" said it was "most likely" submitted too late for serious consideration.
From this you have decided to conclude that your app was not reviewed. I don't see how you can conclude this from this other dude's post.
But I do think that you can reasonably conclude that by the time they got around to your reviewing your app, they were either out of or were running very low on available interview slots, and whatever the merits of your app, it did not fit the profile of what they were looking for at that point in time.
I'd venture to guess that everyone's app was reviewed. But, by the time they got to look at it...there were 3 interview spots left and 3000 late applications vying for them. Also. Even if it wasn't reviewed, it's pretty fair. NYU specifically states they review applications in the order they are received. So, everyone was given the heads up that applying late means your app is at the bottom of the pile. But....Regardless of what happened with everyone's app in the end (was it reviewed? did they just take their money and run?).... The moral of the story is a good lesson for next year's applicants: Apply Early (not just at NYU, but everywhere).
And SwineSue, you're already in at way too many great schools that you should care so much about not getting an interview at NYU (would you even choose that over Sinai or WashU which are both higher ranked?) Does it really matter?
