This might sound a bit desperate but I am just wondering if any of you who received scholarships had already committed to OSU?

I was really hoping for a scholarship (like all of us of course), but I sent in my acceptance without thinking about the business side of things.

I hate to be a sceptic, but do you think there's a chance that if you are already committed, they wouldn't bother offering you a scholarship cause they already have you locked in?

I received one and I have not committed to OSU. I don't know if this is a factor. I think the main reason i got one was cause I am out-of-state

My theory is that schools would give less money to people who are highly likely to end up there anyway. Like people who already live in the city.

Sending in your acceptance isn't binding, you can hold multiple acceptances up to May 15th. At that point you have to pare it down to one.

Do you have any other scholarships to other schools? If you phrase it correctly, then you could use that as a bargaining tool. i.e. "I really want to come to OSU, but this other school would be much cheaper for me, is there anything you could do to help make up the difference? etc etc". It never hurts to ask.

I have a question regarding how and when to fill out the FAFSA. The financial aid document received at the OSU interview says that the FAFSA must be filled out before March 1st to be considered for financial need funding, and they give the school code to use on the form. What am I supposed to do if I'm not 100% sure that I'll be going to Ohio St? I want to be considered for financial need funding, and March 1st is rapidly approaching, but if I fill out the FAFSA using Ohio State's school code, and then get accepted to a different school that I choose to go to instead, will having used OSU's code on the FAFSA cause problems with receiving financial aid from this new school? Or does it not matter? Does anyone have experience with this?

What? No. Send your FAFSA to all schools you are accepted or even waitlisted at. No schools see who else you sent your FAFSA to and even if they did it wouldn't matter. So fill out the FAFSA now and send it asap to every school.

So you can list multiple school codes on the FAFSA? I was under the impression that you could only list one. That makes sense. Thanks for the response.

I interviewed on Feb. 8th and haven't had an update on my status... Has anyone who interviewed that day heard anything yet?

My friend who interviewed a week before me (Feb. 1) heard they got in on Feb. 8th...

I get the vibe that they update on Mondays...

I interviewed on 2/8 too... We'll find out for sure on Tuesday morning via status page. I think Dean Capers calls on Monday night if you are accepted.

Cool. I guess we just have to survive the weekend + Monday 🙂 Good luck to you Pedie!

I wonder why some cycles hear after 1 week and some take 2.

Thanks! You too. This is exactly what I've been saying... I'm surprised time has moved fast enough to be Friday already. Keeping my :xf:

Hey everyone! So where are the rest of you OSU class of 2014 planning on living? Anyone know good websites where we can explore OSU housing opportunities?

Also, do I have to send in my 25$ and acceptance form before I get my OSUID? Anyone know?

no, you don't. Someone posted a link earlier in this thread outlining how to get your buckeye id/email.

Hey thanks man! Didn't even know that....lol, maybe I'm just averse towards reading through 28 paves of this thread. Now I just have to find it! 🙂

Deferred via status page. Kinda figured with no call last night.

2/8 interview

Also deferred here, interviewed 2/10.

Still optimistic though, this is a great school.

Congrats to those accepted and for those deferred, keep your head up b/c you may still get the call!

Does anyone know when OSU's last interview day is? That might shed some light for those of us that are deferred..as to win we could hear anything (good or bad)....

Sorry to hear everyone getting deferred! I was in your shoes last year so don't give up!

I believe the last interview day is tomorrow (at least that is the last day they have for interview tour signups). Not sure if they will extend the season though.

FYI the last interview day is March 20something - I'm interviewing on 3/15 and the admissions office told me my day was the second to last.

did anyone receive the FAFSA email from OSU? They said that there are some schoalrships for medical students that require an application, but the deadline is MArch 1st (!!!). I was accepted way back when, and I just received this email last night. I tried logging in, but it wouldn't let me. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Got the email, but filled out the university scholarship app awhile ago, just because I was fortunate enough to be snooping around the website, lol

i skimmed the actual scholarships for med students. everything seemed to be for nontraditional applicants (lots of if you started a family and now are doing med school), or they were specific to specific counties in ohio.

all in all, didn't seem like i'd get anything outta it, so no essay for me.

o well, i'm prepped to have debt out the ying yang! it makes blowing my money from summer jobs on vegas and europe that much easier this year 🙂

Hey guys I was deferred a month ago. Is that why i did not get the email for financial aide? If i get off the waitlist this May is it possible to still get scholarship money? Thanks kinda confused.... congrats to those who got accepted! 🙂
