Sorry. You can call them and explain the situation. It's still not that late right now.

Relax! When I applied in '07, my app wasn't complete until the end of October. I was invited to interview in January, but ultimately wait-listed (my MCAT score wasn't so hot, so I wasn't expecting much). There's still hope!! 🙂 good luck! :luck::luck:
 
Anyone know when Downstate is going to be sending out news? My online checklist is back to normal but that doesn't mean much. I'm sitting on two waitlists right now and I'm starting to get nervous.

well, they snail mail stuff. so i'm guessing we'll find out within the next few days. sigh.
 
Wished they would overnight Fedex the acceptences; heck I wouldn't even mind if they charged me extra in the secondary fee if this were the case. Oh well. Patience is a virture after all.

According to these interview dates, I won't hear anything until end of oct/early nov. boooo
 
Last year I interviewed on Nov. 6th and was eventually accepted. But I didn't receive the acceptance packet until Jan. 12th because they sent it to my school address in another state. This was a problem because I graduated in Dec. and moved back to NY.

The letter was postmarked Dec. 22 so I was worried about notifying them of my intentions to attend within 2 weeks - but they were totally cool about it.
Plus they didn't mind the fact that I graduated early (because I didn't state that I would be doing so on my application).
So overall Downstate is not super stingy about certain details, they are chill.
 
Anyone check the mail yet? I'm away from home. If the timing is right from last year, it looks like we should start hearing back from today.

I don't live at the address it's being sent

So I have to wait to hear back from my parents. Ugh.
 
do they also let you know if you have an interview by snail mail??
 
How fast have they been getting back to IS people lately? C:mid september and I have heard back from all other SUNYs

i think downstate gets more apps than the other SUNYs, so your (slightly) later complete date might be affecting you more there.

i am praying that my mailbox is full when i get home later...
 
snail mail decisions are annoying....Im glad to see everyone is alert on here😛! that way i'll know if someone, somewhere receives something.

i don't think they said anything about dates to us. i guess we were all just assuming. but still, i think we'll be hearing v soon

Last year the earliest anyone heard was 10-18 so it should be this week.

Also, does anyone any any idea how the waitlist for downstate works? Is there a high priority list or how many people typically come off?

OP: but if you send a letter of intent while wait listed, do they reconsider you again and let you know relatively soon or do you find out may/june like the rest of the waitlisted people?

To answer the first question: Downstate sends snail mail for everything except interview invites.
 
I got my interview invite today. But the day they picked, which is 2 weeks away, conflicts with another interview at Temple.

Does anyone have feedback on which is the easier one to reschedule.

I already got bus tickets and a host for Philly.

I called and Downstate has lots of available dates all through November and is pretty flexible with scheduling. I'm surprised that they have so much available so soon while other schools are booked through til December.
 
Heads up!!! First decisions have been SENT! Just got my manila envelope containing my acceptance! Woohoo! Interviewed September 17th.

I live in Brooklyn so out of staters can probably expect their decisions over the next few days. Good luck everyone!

Congrats. I interviewed on the 17th as well. I'm OOS, so worried.

ARGH!!!

I wish my parents were home to accept mail today!!! Now I have to wait until 9PM tonight for them to get back from work.

And I live pretty close to Brooklyn so I'm expecting it tomorrow or Saturday.

me too... i live in manhattan, so i'm nervous bc i didn't get it today :scared:
 
I also live close to the metro area and didn't receive anything so I assume they mailed it out today so definitely tomorrow or Saturday then! So manila envelope=acceptance so I'll probably tell my brother not to call me if it's a regular letter...

Since romba got his/hers today we can probably assume it was mailed out yesterday. The post office doesn't deliver things the same day they're mailed out.
