yeah, my page has the immunization checklist too

as well as an (x) for Acceptance Response.

soo looking back on posts, Rajin had noticed that his page changed to the health form
about 20min before posting that he had been officially accepted.

YEah I think the status change page means acceptance too.....

The ark of med school decisions is long but hopefully it bends towards acceptances!!!!🙂
 
Ya, if you have the health stuff and the acceptance deposit on your status page...i'm pretty sure you are in. Mine changed 3 days after my letter came
 
Interviewed October 1st, had the same checklist deal as you guys. Got the acceptance letter today 😀

Accepted as well! Received the letter today =)...but I don't have the checklist stuff on my status page.
 
Also accepted one day after red Xs. 🙂

To summarize past pages, if you have red Xs, you are in. If you don't have them, then you may still be in and have to wait a few days.
 
sluggie, can you check your status page again now? I had red x's this morning but now it has gone back to the regular (MCAT,secondary) checklist

now i'm getting nervous.

Oh no -- my red X's went away, too! I haven't been home yet to check my mail so I don't know if anything showed up today. Why do they toy with us so?

this place has been interviewing since like late august right....? :idea:

Does that mean that the class could be damn near full by now?

Not a chance it's anywhere near full. On average they take 1-2 people per interview group (with many exceptions but still).

Your interview day has no gross lab in it unfortunately...the MS1 schedule is:

3 lectures in the morning: Lymphoid tissue/organs @ 9, Meninges, veins, lymphatics @ 10, and Blood coagulation @11

1 lecture in the afternoon: Orbit bones @ 1

....sounds like a boring day for me ><

Well there are lots of interview groups...remember we interview a few times a week for 190ish spots.

And I don't know the frequency of waitlists vs. post interview rejections here so I can't speak to that.

Unfortunately, that's how it is at many med schools...they all take the best of the best.

Uh oh mine did too!
Maybe they are reading this forum and realized what was going on so they fixed it haha! Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
 
Accepted! Yay! Found out via snail mail when I got home this evening. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.

For those who are interested, I am in-state and had a late-September interview.

Got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!
 
Does anyone know what the turn around in time is? It seems most people hearing back are early October? How often do they send out letters?
 
Hey guys! Just wanted to congratulate the newest acceptees! I see a few more since last night.

Just stopping in between the written exam (passed with a 78!!!😀) and the practicals for anatomy and histo in 30 min.

Keep hangin in there!

Couldn't hurt. Just don't send one everyday and I think you'll be alright.
 
If we have an interview in the afternoon when should we schedule our flight out? is 5pm okay? When do the afternoon interviewees get done? Also, what is the closest airport? Thanks.

This is a question to call admissions with. I would assume 5PM is fine but do not take my word for it. Call them up and ask what the best timing would be.

And the closest airport is JFK.

Hey Guys,

I am awaiting an interview invite or rejection from Downstate and just received a hold letter from them. They want me to describe and list my extracurricular activities during college.
I was just wondering what they mean by extracurricular activities. Does it have to be an organized activity or would they consider my weekly ultimate frisbee pick-up games an extracurricular activity.

I had a 3PM Interview..

I left the campus at like 4:20 once the taxi arrived.

5PM may be pushing it but I would do something around 6ish+.

I had a 9PM flight since it was the only one available I think (my dad scheduled it through work) so I had to wait there a while @ JFK.

Give yourself about 1.5-2 hours after your interview start time to get a cab or car service. It takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half (if there's heavy traffic) to get to the closest airport (JFK), and you want to arrive an hour before your flight. So I'd say give yourself at least 4.5 hours (just to be on the safe side) from your official interview time until time of departure.

Get your organized ones in there definitely. As for unorganized, it depends on whether you consider things like your pick up games a good show of your personality. If it's weekly and consistent, you can probably get away with writing it down, but use judgment...make sure it's something that showcases your non-sciency side.

Try a different airport, you can also wait a couple days and see if better priced tickets come up.
 
hey, i just got accepted here =). But.. At the end of my acceptance letter it says... your acceptance is conditional pending satisfactory completion of English 2. I told them I was taking english at my school this fall. But I actually took it during summer at community college because I couldn't fit into my schedule. I got A in it so I passed... I was just wondering if this will ever be a problem?? thank you!

I dont think it should be a problem. I would call them and explain. When did you interview?

After you call and they approve, make sure to have the school where you took it send them a letter verifying that you took and passed the course.
 
Hey everyone, I was hoping you guys would help me justify not applying to this school. 3.85 sgpa and 3.78 cgpa 26n mcat lost of ec's and research. I applied only to osteopathic school got and in but after looking at the cost I started wondering if I had a shot in hell had I applied to downstate. I am instate and it's so cheap, I wouldn't even have had to move. I know it's too late now but I just need someone to tell me what I want to hear(I wouldn't get in), yes I am crazy!
 
Accepted!!!! First one! Interviewed late september, just got the snail mail acceptance this week (oos). Also, if anyone is worried they're on hold because of the red x thing, I still don't have any health immunization checklist and I received my letter 4 days ago 🙂
