if everybody chose a school on May 16, then would most of the alternate list movement for downstate have already happend by the time I was placed onto the alternate list (June 15)?

Nope, its always moving. they seem to call people all throughout the summer. Please refer to last years thread, you can see that people were accepted in sporadic batches all summer. You still have a good shot!

my status page changed on the bottom. hoping for some good news!
Edit: mine also has a red x saying acceptance response.

rage....i havent been able to log into the checklist for like a week now....anyone else with this problem?? I emailed admissions but no reply

Does anyone know where we find the white coat form?

Dear smmypnts, I may be wrong but there was an ID# associated with a letter informing me about the school's wax loan. I've been thinking the entire time that was my student ID# but now that I think about it I'm not 100% sure.

i had that up for a while- but nothing yet... (alternate listed on may 27th...)

It seems like there has been almost no movement of the alternate list this week and that most of the movement occurred between end May and beginning of June. I wonder whether at this point there will be only a few people here and there that get in or whether there will still be some waves of acceptances. According to last years thread, they sent out interest emails at about this time to those on hold, then there were a few more acceptances at the beginning of July. I am thinking I should submit my amcas application for the next round at this point. I was intially on hold then got alternate listed June 4th and have not heard anything since. I am beginning to give up hope.

ME too (giving up all hope i mean)! I interviewed Feb 16th and was alt listed March 23rd but havent heard anything since the interest email. I actually submitted amcas June 1st. I think that the best idea for anyone on alternate is to just start amcas because even if some people do get off there is no way that they're going to take even a majority of those on it right now. The last thing you want to do is screw yourself for next year because you were slow about submitting.

Unfortunately, that means nth...I called and asked. I am in the same situation as you are.

At least you're on the alternate list, I'm still on hold and it seems like to even have a chance of getting in I'd have to be moved to the alternate list first....

There will definitely be more movement. If you look at last year's thread there was movement into late July/Early August.

We're probably not seeing movement for a couple of reasons: 1. SDN is a small sample size, and 2. the people being accepted may not be posting

Question to current students: Do you recommend a PC or a Mac with Windows installed? What platform integrates more seamlessly with the curriculum?

i think the movement has been modest; they're probably holding out and going to have most movement occur later on.

I have a PC and I know plenty of students with macs and both do fine. Get whichever youre more comfortable with. If its a mac, just make sure youve got boot camp to run windows for exams and such.

About the SID, I emailed them asking and they gave it to me.

The white coat form is on the Prime website that they just emailed everyone about, and its due July 31st, and basically just asks your name and size.

All Macs come with boot camp.

The issue is that you have to purchase Windows for retail price. But try to get a student discount on Windows either at your school or online somewhere. I think UB sells Windows 7 for $60 to non-UB students (as an example).

(I'm not recommending a Mac and I'm not a student, just providing this information if you didn't know it)

Where do I find my "SID"?

SID can also be found on your financial aid letter.

Downstate utilizes the Cisco Clean Access agent (in case you're wondering, it's crappy as hell), whereas Mac users do not need the agent in order to get onto the internet, for now at least. Then again, to each his own.

just submitted amcas. hopefully downstate will stop me before i have to start writing secondaries again!

You mean Clean Access wasn't your best friend EVER this year?

...weirdo😀

Thats weird I never received one and I have been accepted since January. maybe since I havent turned in all my health clearance stuff and I barely sent in all my transcripts.

Wow, that would annoy the crap out of me. I hate installing software on my computer. Especially poorly designed software.

Thanks for the computer advice. I think I'm going to stay with a Mac.

I did not receive an email regarding PRIME either.

I'm rooting for you too man, hopefully we'll be classmates next year :xf:

I never got this email! I wonder what's going on??? but i was still able to log in none the less. hmmmm is there any other info that downstate has been witholding from me? 😕

How were you able to log in without the SID number? I called and was told that since I was recently accepted, my Prime account is not ready.

The SID number was on my financial aid paper. so if you got those then you can check there.

anyone placed on the alternate list hear anything recently? is it time to give up hope with dstate?

I think movement on the alternate list was very slow this year for some reason, but don't give up hope.... people can still get in at the last minute.

Has anyone gotten the budget from Downstate yet? I was accepted a few weeks ago and just sent it my NYS paperwork. I'm specifically wondering how much they've allotted for housing so that I can start thinking of how much I could spend on an apartment. If you have it, could you please post the budget?

I'll be attending in the fall too! Any suggestions for finding other 1st year roommates for living off campus? Anyone looking for roommates?

@anon311 The housing budget is about 13k.

Is there a specific reason you are looking for off campus housing? Does anyone know if spaces are available in the dorms?

at this point, does everybody on the alternate list have the following item on the checklist?

"$100 Acceptance Deposit due between May 1-13 (Please disregard if you are on the Alternate List)"

I have it and I'm on the alternate list.

As an out of state student, I can apply for in state tuition if I live off campus for one year. And I have no idea if there are still spaces in the dorms.
