hmm ok, JustinSMD were you waitlisted before? I haven't had any status change yet, my status still reads: "Your Status: Interview Complete"
hi VTEP,

i think it really depends on your faculty interviewer and when he/she turns in the reviews. mine took about 7 weeks, which was longer than most people had reported on this thread. some others that interviewed the same day i had found out within a week or a few weeks. when i called to check in, i was told the same thing that you were told...that they had no information about when i would be reviewed. i was also told that as soon as there was any update at all, the status would be changed. so it sounds like your interviewer may just be really, really slow! but it doesn't necessarily mean that anything fishy is going on. i would give it another week and call to check in again 🙂

anyone know the dress code for the second look day this friday? I'm assuming casual but don't wanna be chillin' in a room full of nicely dressed people.

Hey Guys,
Yeah I was waitlisted first. It's also been 3 business days + a weekend since I've heard anything and the guy who wrote about this before said he had a response in 2 days. Do you think this is bad or good sign? I know they would want to tell me before the second look but I'm not sure if that's a priority for them....ughhhh

has anyone gotten anything more specific from the office on what correspondence sent means?

Im thinking nice pants, tucked in button up if your a guy. I dont think its full blown suite...especially if were going to D&B afterwards...and then maybe more after that!😎

Does anyone know how Temple's waitlist works? I assume most of the movement begins in May... Just wondering whether Temple has some sort of ranking system for those on the waitlist or if it is purely by order of interview date. If it's the latter, my chances are looking pretty slim since I was interviewed back in mid-January...

I was interviewed on Mar 9. How soon before they get back to me do you think?

I was interviewed in mid-January on a Tuesday and I received Temple's decision in the mail 4 weeks later. Supposedly the Tuesday interview team is pretty efficient with regard to making decisions. If you were interviewed on Wednesday or Thursday, you may hear back from them slightly earlier or later. I imagine it doesn't make that much of a difference though.

I was interviewed on Jan 27th (weds) and haven't heard anything yet (2 months now). I think it depends on your interviewer and when they get to you, I know people who interviewed a full month after me got a decision already...good luck though!

in case anyone's wondering what correspondence sent means off the wait list, i called the office today and they said it doesn't mean anything. they said there probably won't be movement until may 15.

I think it just means that the committee is considering your waitlist application for admission. It doesn't mean you'll get it, it just means its in consideration-so they could make a decision anytime past that point. That's why some people off the WL are getting rejected-they reconsidered and decided to reject. Since they can decide to accept any time between now and the start of classes, they're in no rush even if they are looking over things now.

Who got rejected off the wait list? I haven't seen anybody post that.

Sorry, I was thinking Kaplit but I didn't realize he was preinterview. Do you think Correspondence Sent means they're considering you "RIGHT now" or that they're keeping you in consideration and that you'll just hear when they make their decision. Really hoping it means right now and I'll hear something soon.

Just out of curiosity, did anybody else here get more than one rejection?

Timeline for me:
Rejection #1: Via email on March 16. Well, at least they had the decency to let me know. Ah well, life goes on...
Rejection #2: Via snail mail on March 20. Thanks. I got the message the first time.
Rejection #3: Via email yesterday. Really Temple? Really?

That's really strange. I just got it quick and painless via email one time.

Damnnn.. that has got to hurt!

alright WT.F is going on? Earlier my status was correspondence sent with the explanation being "under review", and now it says correspondence sent and the explanation is " correspondence has been sent to your preferred address". Any thoughts? Oh by the way, I was put on the waitlist back in January. So when they take accept you off the waitlist, do they call or send a mail???/

thats rude of them, im not a fan of their admissions office. I got an interview with the director of admissions instead of a student and she was really impolite. My interview was scheduled in the afternoon she moved it up to the morning that day. After about 20 min(when most students got 30min) she was like we have to end early because i have to be at a meeting. Few weeks later, i got a letter saying "congratulations, you have been considered for the waitlist."

When did you interview? I had a very similar experience (Jan 27, interview switched to morning, about 15 mins etc)...I've yet to hear anything (almost 10 weeks) and when I call admissions I'm given no info and I've emailed too and heard nothing back. 🙁

I interviewed January 5th. I heard back in about 4 weeks. All i can tell you is that my student host told me that there was a huge difference of when you hear back. he heard back in about a week

same here. i'm not sure if it means that they are actually sending something or that they made a mistake saying we were under review and they are just switching it back to what it was before. when i called the admissions office, they seemed to indicate that nothing changed and they had just made a mistake with the status change.

I got the same thing, too. Not sure what that means.....hopefully it means acceptance, or they're informing us about how the waitlist works or ...nothing-anything is better than a rejection letter.

I was also told the online status change with 'sent' versus 'mailed' means nothing for us on the continuing candidates list. If you are accepted, the status site will say ACCEPTED

Yeah and I don't think the updated status means rejection, either. The whole point of a waitlist is to keep people available incase a spot opens (candidates you like). So the chances of them starting to reject of the waitlist would be stupid. Additionally, it's way to early in the season (I would think) for the class to be full-they just finished interviews recently and said the waitlist remains open until the first day of classes. It's probably information on the waitlist or rankings.

Wow, you guys must think I'm illiterate. This'll teach me to write a post right after I get up. Incase = in case. to early = too early. of the waitlist = off the waitlist....

Yeah...this post was totally not necessary but I'm pretty anal about these sorts of things so I figured it wouldn't hurt to post the edit.

Sorry for wasting space.

Justin

Hey guys,

For those of you that went to second look, how was it? I was going to go but got really sick last minute and had to cancel the trip. Did I miss anything important? How were the students/perspective students that went? Thanks a lot!

hey guys...for those of you who were accepted...have you been sent any financial aid information if u submitted FAFSA already? Did they say anything about financial aid at Second Look cuz i didnt go

quick question for anyone who knows...

How much movement off the waitlist happens at a school like Temple?

How many waitlisters are there and how many spots generally open up?

-thanks

I haven't gotten anything about financial aid yet other than the handout they have up on TMO. I don't know if they said anything at Second Look because I didn't go either. But from what I hear they'll put more info about financial aid up on TMO in early April.

I got an email today inviting me to a reception on April 8th for applicants considering Temple who chose the Western Penn system for 3rd/4th years. I've been on the waitlist with no further communication since October, so naturally I was a bit confused. I called, and they said that there's no way they'll know anything further before the reception. Wouldn't it have made more sense to try to give waitlisted applicants an idea about their status? How can they expect applicants to miss school and drive across 2 states if they are still interviewing and can't give us any idea as to where we stand...Grrrr....

I agree. I'd really like to know my specific ranking, or at least which 1/3 of the wait list I'm on. If I had that info I would know how hopeful to be 🙁

I went to Second Look. They said they would post all the docs that they handed out at Second Look on TMO.

Can anyone send me the TMO website? I seem to have lost it.

Also, I really like Temple but I could go to my state school for 1/2 the price. I would love to hear any opinions on whether its worth it to pay the extra $ to go to Temple?

But it says AAMC ID. I was under the impression that once you are accepted you are supposed to go to a website where you enter your temple access ID that they sent in the mail?
yeah, they're basically putting information up on the portal where you find out your status. i'm not sure if they're going to put the same info up on TUportal (temple access id)

If they are, they haven't done so yet - I'm a Temple undergrad and I've looked at my TUPortal, and there's nothing on there from the School of Medicine yet.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the TMO network? I'm trying to send a new update to my application and cannot even sign on

Hey everyone,
At Temple's second look they had a slide up saying a little less than half the class received some form of scholarship from Temple. However, at another point someone said that closer to 75% receive scholarships from Temple. They also said the avg amount of these scholarships is like 5-10K. Does anyone know the true percentage of the class that receives a scholarship from Temple? Thanks guys.

I think 40% sounds more believable than 75. Plus I do not remember being told the higher number, I only remember the lower number. I asked Ms. Demmler about how to weigh my odds of getting a scholarship, and she said that many of the scholarships have inclusion criteria (e.g you must be from inner city Philadelphia, you must be in this minority group, ect). So I doubt I will get a scholarship as I probably don't fit any of the criteria for most of the scholarships, and especially doubt I will get one before the withdraw deadline as it sounds like many scholarships are issued afterwards. Also, none of the students I talked to about $ on second look day mentioned that they had gotten any money.

Also, I sent their financial aid office an email implying that if I don't get a scholarship I can't go. I have not gotten a response. If I don't get something that would make my CoA comparable to what it would be at a state school, I will withdraw.

I wish good luck to everyone for getting the scholarships.

First off, accepted and its my first one so I'm pretty stoked (this happened several weeks ago but the afterglow is still working its magic).

But I don't remember if I need to send in some more financial info other than the FAFSA?

Thanks

I just had a pretty frustrating conversation with Ms. Hester,

She said that they award 30-40 merit scholarships (20-40K) to students based on gpa and mcat.

She said most of the initial merit money has been awarded, although a few more may still roll out. I thought I had pretty good stats so I am a bit surprised that I have not heard back yet. But I guess there are always better people.

Did anyone get one of these awards? If so, mind sharing when you heard and your stats?

She also said that when people who were offered the award drop out, they offer it to the next highest ranked person on the list. But that probably won't happen til May 15th, in which case, I will need to have withdrawn my acceptance by then. So it won't be of much use to me at that point.

She also said need-based money comes out end of April to mid May so there is a chance they won't notify people of it by then.

Also, she told me 3/4 of the financial aid packages have been awarded and sent out via TUMail. I haven't gotten it yet because I'm at the end of the alphabet. But as people turn in late fin aid paperwork (parental taxes, ect) or get scholarships, they revise your award.

Withdrew my acceptance today. Good luck guys! 🙂

Interviewed on March 17th. Havent checked my status in a while, before it was "Interview Complete" but I just looked and now it says "Correspondance Sent". Based on what ive read in this thread, I think it's safe to assume a waitlist or rejection?

Also, at my interview they told us there were only two more committee meetings, one that firday (3/19) and the last one of the season on April 16th. So unless they moved up the meeting, it's probably even more likely to be a waitlist or rejection. Thoughts?

How many of you on here have received 1) any financial aid package? even if its all loans and 2) a scholarship from temple.

I was told they were finishing sending them via TUeMail last week but still all I see is a "Temple Today" email.

I called the financial aid office yesterday and they told me that the emails were going to be sent out this week or next, and to keep checking my Owlnet and TUMail. All I see on Owlnet is that they received my deposit and that my financial aid status is "pending." So hopefully we'll hear something soon.

I received an all loan financial aid package on 3/29. But I also received an email that I need to submit my tax returns and they may modify the package, so I'm not really sure what that means in terms of the aid I will receive.
