ACCEPTED as well, wow still in a complete rush. Good luck everyone!

paper, did you interview 10/7?

Congrats Guys~

Still nothing, not even waitlist. sigh.. from 9/29 interview and from reading last year's thread...it is not a good thing

your guys interviewer prob wasnt in the last ADCOM meeting. either that or your student interviewer turned the form in late. They meet this friday i believe!

actually i'm not sure if they're meeting this friday. it's the ceremony for the new medical school building and white coat ceremony for class of 2013.

while it sucks having to wait, i don't think the wait indicates anything negative...i couldn't find anything in previous posts that suggested that waiting meant something bad...only that 'correspondence mailed' did

My interview is going to be on the day where they open the new building. I got an email saying that security is going to be tight, and make sure to come early to give yourself enough time to park and go through security.

You think having your date on such an important date where everyone is going to be attending these events going to hurt your chance of getting in to the school b/c interviewers might just want to hurry the interviews so that they can attend the events?

Ya they are not meeting this week cuz of all the things going on.

For those of you who got interview invites, after scheduling your interview did you get another email confirming the time of your second interview? I was told on October 20th that I would receive an email in three days with the time of my second interview. It is now October 28th and I have yet to receive anything...

Don't worry! My faculty interview lasted less than 15 mins but i was accepted. I think most interviewers form an opinion of you before you get there anyways. They just have to confirm (good or bad)

same thing happened to me, sometimes they're just backed up. i suggest calling the admissions office and let them know that your interview is coming up and you haven't received the email. if they've setup the second interview for you they'll be able to let you know over the phone.

Thanks! My interview is not until December 3rd so I will probably give it a couple more days.

interviewed 9/24, no news. The events this weekend and no AdCom meeting mean I have to wait 2 more weeks. 🙁

I'm glad that at least they're still moving along on giving out acceptances since Oct 15. This is the first time someone's been accepted since Oct 15.

Congrats to all who're accepted!

same thing happened to me. i called and the woman said that she is backed up and i should receive the email with second interview time in a week or so.

Don't count on that second email...I interviewed and they never told us the time of the second interview till we got there...The student iterview will either be at 2 or 2:30 which is right after lunch

If you haven't gotten the second e-mail and you're not sure what time your second interview is, you should call in. It takes them seconds to check, and they are the nicest!

And they confirmed that the adcom is not meeting this Friday because of the ribbon cutting of the gorgeous new building!

Wait..was it ribbon cutting or white coat ceremony? It's one of those 🙂

my interview isn't until 12/8 so I'll try calling sometime before then. Thanks!

I'm going to Temple for a sport. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to stop by the admissions office and ask them a few questions about my application. I'm not sure if this is a good idea though. It'll show them that I am interested and maybe expedite my app but at the same time I don't want to essentially force an interview. I was thinking of calling them first to see if I could visit.

I think you should go to hand-deliver a Letter of Interest/Update. Ask good questions about the school.

If you just go in there to ask about your app empty-handed, that might come across as badgering them about your app. I don't know, maybe. I guess it all depends on your verbal delivery. Good luck.

I submitted my secondary on Sept 21st... anyone who submitted around this time heard anything yet about an interview??

i just withdrew my application from here.

good luck to all of you

No worries if you haven't heard yet! I received an interview invite 10/9, and was complete 7/13. They said they're going to probably going to get over 10,000 applications this year, plus with the all the ceremonies coming up, things are probably hectic 🙂

is anyone else having trouble submitting the tuition deposit? after checking the box and clicking submit, I get the following error "SORRY PLEASE CONTACT ADMISSIONS OFFICE."

so I suppose I'll do just that.

same thing and my assigned Temple ID doesn't show up either. can you let me know what their response is? thanks!

ya I wish they are meeting this week, oh well.

lol, relax for a while, I was complete for over two months before the interview invite.

Thanks for the encouragement 😳

I'm going through this process for the second time and it's easy to lose confidence after 2 months without a peep from any schools.

haha ok so I just called admissions and they said that we have to wait for our letter to be sent out, which contains the assigned Temple ID. the person I spoke to over the phone was rather amused by the fact that clearly we compulsively check the status pages 😀

I'm about to cancel my interview. To those more familiar with the school, am I making a mistake? (I received an acceptance, but not at a school I am sure I would choose over temple).

I was originally going to go, but it would be my third one in 3 days at the east coast (im from CA). NYU --> UMB --> Temple. In addition, the only transportation I could afford to Philly was an amtrak at 4 in the morning and I would go straight from the station to the interview. 🙁

Would you mind sharing what school you're accepted to? 3 internives in 3 days is tough, but it certainly saves a lot of travel money. 4 in the morning train! You might need energy drink right before the interview.

Maybe you can consider bus service instead of AMTRAK? You can look around, but there's this bus line from DC to Philly, which is cheap, maybe it'll work better for you: New Century Travel bus

I would go, you have nothing to lose other than some sleep. I really loved it there and the new buildin is sweet. its def worth a trip IMO. But then again if u r from ca maybe you won't want to move there anyway.

OMG I love this school. Just had my interview. It is now my top choice. Good luck everyone!

The tour guides took us to the new gross anatomy lab, and we actually were able to see the cadavers. The building is amazing. Loved my interviewers, very enthusiastic about the school.

I heard that if you don't hear back from the school in 4 weeks, you should call the admissions office. Sometimes the interviewer don't turn in their paperwork, but if you call them after 4 weeks, the admissions office will try to push the interviewer in getting your evaluation turned in.

Wishing everyone good luck!

I got accepted to UIC, I quickly withdrew because financial situations changed and no way I could afford 63k - 85k/yr for tuition alone. Also, UVM, which I loved, but the area is less diverse and is a small town esp. coming from LA. I should hear back from MCW in a few days, but the rest won't tell me until December-January.

That's a cool bus service though. It looks like I would have to really coordinate the details of public transporation from Baltimore to Washington DC to Phillly. Google maps is showing it as about 2 hours. It's not so bad, considering I did almost 3 hrs to get from JFK to the Bronx for AECOM 🙂

Btw, I LOVE boy meets world, which is set in Philly. I still watch it and have all the episodes! It's one of the factors I'm considering whether I should still go. Stupid, I know

Those that have interviewed all seem to have loved the place. The neighborhood doesn't seem too attractive (Google Maps Street View -- 3500 N Broad St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19140). In fact, I think I saw a knife fight somewhere in there. What is it that is so appealing to you?

Really! Thanks for the tip, I'll try contacting the admissions office. I was interviewed 9/24, a month+ ago. If they only have to turn in evaluations and not show up in person, I don't understand why it'll take this long.

Hey Lutuza, did you intervew at NYMC?

No. Are you? Best of luck! When I was in Philly, I took the New Century bus lines to NYC as a vacation! To make the airfare to East Coast as worth it as possible.

Well, if you withdrew your only acceptance and have none so far, then I would definitely go interview at Temple. Usually people like a particular school better when they get the chance to visit and experience the atmosphere.

UIC is really expensive for OOS, and I understand your withdrawal. But if I were in your place, I might have wait out a bit longer to see what financial aid I might get. Maybe you'll get a 20K+ scholarships!

But sounds like you have quite a few interviews, so I'm sure you'll get in somewhere more reasonable and you'll like very well too! Good luck!

The bus line is just a suggestion. If it's inconvenient for you then you don't have to use it. Though I think it's a lot cheaper than Amtrak. You can look for other bus lines, too. Greyhound is pretty famous, and they're more ubiquitous.

Let us know what they say! I contacted them a few days ago and they just told me "no decision has been made for you yet" and was told I would hear some time next week, but i doubt it since the adcom is not meeting this week. Hopefully soon... like you I have been waiting a month and am trying to make decisions on future interviews since airfare is so expensive 🙁

I knew I liked Temple, but Philly definitely made me nervous. I know that two blocks out of the general Temple area can be pretty sketchy.

Once I got there though, the mission and attitude of the students, faculty, and staff really sold me. Personally, I know that I want to be a clinician. Research isn't my thing, and Temple is known for turning our excellent clinicians. But if you are interested in research, they were actually ranked this year for the first time! Honestly things only seem to be getting better at the school.

The students there are incredibly friendly. Whenever I ran into one, they would always smile and say "Good Luck!" I have not seen happier students. When you go there, you'll realize it is because the way they organize their curriculum, the policies of the school, and the attitude of the faculty really allow their students to have a life outside of med school. The students all seemed really well-rounded. There will always be stress in a medical student's life, but these students just didn't seem so harried and worn out. The students who showed us around went clubbing, went to museums regularly. Not to mention that the cost of city living in Philly is actually not that bad!

The new medical building is just...insanity. It's gorgeous. The facilities are brand new.

In the end though, the students will really sell the school to you because they honestly love it. That says a lot about a school, and it said a lot to me, which is why it is now one of my top choices. I had a wonderful time at Temple, and if you get the opportunity to interview there, you absolutely should take the time. That school is only going to get better. 🙂

Also, there is stadium lighting on pretty much every building around Temple. One of the students mentioned that "The sun never sets on Temple". They have the largest security force, and if you need an escort to your car at night, all you have to do is call! During the day, the area seems pretty harmless. I wasn't nervous or scared at all!
