I went to Temple undergrad for 4 years and never once had an issue. The area is very developed now. Temple Medical area is a little sketchy. I lived at York North Apartments. It is the best choice in the medical school area. They have a free shuttle too and its close to transportation. The rent at first sounds expensive but it includes all utilities, internet, cable and the shuttle. Check it out. Good Luck.

The first few Waitlist Acceptances went out ~March 11th last year. Hopefully there will be March movement again this year.

Merging into the Temple application thread due to lack of Temple Class of 2014 thread.

Does anyone know how many people are usually on the waitlist each year?
Does Temple reject post interview?

I just called admissions and I asked for my position on the WL and they said its not ranked. Does anyone else know anything about this cause I thought it was ranked

I believe that it doesn't get ranked until May

Under review. I wonder if there is still a chance to interview.

For anyone going to second look at the end of the month, do you plan on staying in philly for more than just friday?

I'm definitely staying in philly the night before because the start time is so early. I haven't decided whether or not to stay over friday night too though. It would be kind of nice to get a chance to explore the city a little bit on saturday.

Hey, I just interviewed here yesterday and met with Mr. Whitaker of the Recruitment, Retention, Admissions program. I don't know what to make of our meeting. Does anyone know how much influence he has?
As well, I couldn't tell when he was joking or being sarcastic. I just hope it wasn't the latter when he was telling me that I had nothing to worry about.

when did people get the second look info cause i haven't gotten anything yet

I got the initial email telling me to "save the date" on 2/19.

Got the itinerary about a week later.

Hope that helps

Thanks guys! 🙂

NdNThunder - I interviewed February 18th.

1st one. I am completely and utterly relaxed.

Good luck to everyone!

Accepted off the waitlist today! I interviewed the end of October. I'm 99% sure I'm going to withdraw my application so hopefully that opens up a spot for one of you!

Andddddddddd... the waitlist movement begins! 👍

Around the same time as last year too.

:xf: for us all! :luck:

Is the waitlist movement dependent on when you got put on the waitlist? In other words, I was informed I was on the waitlist the other day, does this mean it will take longer for me to find out where I am than people who have known since say november?

I don't think so. I interviewed in late september and have heard nothing while the person interviewing in october has already heard. I'm sure they have some kind of rank and they did say most movement won't occur until 5/15

Since they're now filling from the waitlist does that mean interviews have closed?

Thanks for the silent rejection, Temple. 🙄

I was originally thinking of checking out the second look, but given the nature of the event it seems like it's geared toward those that haven't quite made up their minds. I'll be attending temple in the fall, and the only reason I'd attend would be to meet some of my classmates. however, the fact that it starts early friday morning means that I would have to take two days off of work for an event that I'm not sure is what I think it is.

in so many words, is anyone else going to be abstaining for this very reason? and if so, is anyone thinking about housing yet? I'd definitely like to live with some other med students and it would be helpful to get to know people beforehand. I'll be away for a couple of months this summer so ideally I'd like to find a place some time in may.

SO. allow me to introduce myself: I'm zach. from new hampshire originally but currently residing in boston. where are you all from?

Hi Zach, nice to meet you. I'm Katherine, originally from New Jersey, but I've been in Philly for about thirteen years now.

I'm not going to Second Look either. I'd like to meet future classmates as well but I would have to miss class for it and I really can't do that right now.

As far as housing - the Manayunk area or around the Art Museum are good places to start looking. And I think the Admissions office publishes kind of a "housemates/housing wanted" list at some point, so you can probably find other med students to live with that way. Good luck!

Well my interview at Temple is next week, the 25th. However, I got the invite in January. I remember they gave me a bunch of dates to choose from but I decided on the 25th bec. the other days didn't work with my schedule. I believe the 25th was the last day I saw on the calendar, but I can't be sure. Also, this happened in January...it is possible that they extended the interview cycle.

Hi Zach. I'm Jarred; I will be attending second look even though I know I'm going to Temple (I have saved quite a few vacation days that I won't have a chance to use). Originally from central PA, I have lived in Baltimore for the last 5 years. My original plan was to live with my cousin in Manayunk, but now it looks like she may buy a house outside the city.

So...I get first dibs on a house in Manayunk. Total rent is just over $1000 a month. Just thought I'd throw that out there to get the ball rolling.

See some of you in a few weekends

hey guys...so for those of you who go to Second Look...if there is any important information given which the rest of us (those who dont go) should know do u mind letting us know via SDN...im from California and i wont be able to make it to second look...thanks!

Rejection is not so silent anymore. It's more like screaming, "YOU'RE NOT SELECTED!" Received the email this morning pre-interview.

I'm in the same boat..will be attending Temple but won't be at the 2nd look. I'll probably be down in philly around june to find a place to live. see you guys in august!!!!

Sorry, Ilovewater, that sounds rough. Did Temple change your status and send you an email? My application went under review in their office on 12/1/09 so I suspect that my late submission will preclude me from receiving an interview. However, my status was just changed to: "CORRESPONDENCE MAILED," and I have not received an email informing me of a pre-interview rejection. Is Temple corresponding an interview invite to me or a pre-interview rejection? Does Temple offer interviews via mail? Thank you in advance to any and all who can shed some light on this for me!

I've got the same status change, from under review (complete in August) to correspondence mailed. I'm 99% sure this is a rejection. Kind of weird they would send emails to some but letters to others.

Same here...weird we didn't get an email.
