Has anyone decided they are for sure attending yet?
Yup! Just decided this week. Withdrew from all other schools, so it's official!
😀
Has anyone decided they are for sure attending yet?
has anyone else received their financial aid packet yet?
So I think I'm 99% sure I'm going here, unless my waitlist status at my top choice changes, which I don't think is going to happen. Just wanted to ask if anyone has looked into housing yet and if you've found anything promising? When do most of ya'll plan to move to Boston?
And also - apart from a final transcript indicating completion of all courses, is there anything else we need to send to the school before matriculation?
The immunization stuff is due July 1st.... but aside from those two things, not sure.
Wow thanks I totally forgot about the immunization stuff. By the way, are you MD/MPH?
Did anyone who is waitlisted and turned in their financial aid forms on time receive their financial aid package yet? Or do they only send out the financial aid packages to admitted students?
I'm on the waitlist and didn't get anything.

My cursory understanding is that financial aid packages are only sent to admitted students. They request financial background information from waitlisted students such that upon their acceptance, they can get a package configured right away since everything is already on file. It's a painful exercise for a waitlister, since there is certainly no guarantee of acceptance, and yet you must part with all of your sensitive financial information nevertheless. Actually, what isn't painful about being on the waitlist?
seems everyone is withdrawing
Does anyone know what materials we have to buy before medical school (ie. stethoscope?) or if there is a list we get during the summer?
no, but I'm sure whatever we get will immediately be ridiculed by older students as useless
Haha how true.
When are they going to release the academic calendar? I also wonder how they are going to adjust first year for us since the class of 2013 was apparently overwhelmed by the new curriculum format.
Yo oze, we're in a similar situation waiting on cali schools. I wish you the best of luck.

Hi all,
I havnt followed this thread for a while,so I have several questions, I appreciate any answers.I got waitlisted at tufts a while ago. In the waitlist letter, they mentioned that they are going to send a letter asking if you are interested in staying in waitlist sometime in spring, has anyone recieved that letter? also, has there been any waitlist movement?
i also got this waitlist e-mail today.
I don't remember ever getting a waitlist email. After completing my interview in December I received nothing by email, phone, or regular mail for the next 6 months. I emailed a few days before May 15 to see what was up and was told I was still under consideration for their MD/PhD.
On the 21st I received an email entitled 'Maine Track Wait List' (never applied to that Track) from Dr. Slavin saying I was still under consideration, but that email was immediately followed by another one saying to ignore the previous erroneous title.
I haven't gotten the email about staying on the waitlist that you all apparently got.
I'm pretty sure they were supposed to give me a decision by April 30/May 1. Really confused what they're trying to do here. Is anyone else in this position with Tufts? Is their MD/PhD program just disorganized or am I missing something?
Could someone who knows more about financial aid explain to me the details about the "Wolfson Loan". I know it is subsidized and has a longer grace period, so should I take this loan (at 7%) over the unsubsidized Stafford (6.8%)?

I guess we can set up email accounts now? Go check it out in your secondary app page
Tell us more details about the Wolfson loan. Does someone else pay the interest during medical school, like the subsidized stafford and perkins loans? I would assume so, or else what would be the point of getting the Wolfson loan. If the rates are 7% vs. 6.8%, the extra interest you will accumulate from the Wolfson's 0.2% higher rate during residency and beyond will probably be much less than the interest the unsubsidized stafford loan accumulates during medical school. Not adding interest during 4 yrs of medical school is huge. Go with the Wolfson if that's the case. Do the math though, seriously.
Edit: Oh yeah, you say it's subsidized. If you crunch the numbers, I'm sure you'll realize you save thousands with the Wolfson, depending on how large a loan it is.
Thank you for all your help. I called today and got everything worked out. Yes it is subsidized. On top of that, you can defer the payment for up to 60 months after the grace period. Additionally, the 7% written on our forms is only the maximum interest they can charge you. So it is pretty good.
First year academic calendar is up for class of 2014🙂
