the medical school is in boston, not somerville. so davis square would actually be a pretty inconvenient place to stay before an interview 😉

Funny thing is, I actually knew the medical school is in downtown boston 🙄 Yesterday was a long day at the lab..

As others have said, it's just a short T ride away to either the green line Park Street stop or Downtown Crossing on the orange line. It's a pretty ritzy area, so I'd assume that hotel rates near the medical school are rather expensive.

Looking at MSAR, it seems they like in-staties... (horray :meanie:)

However, I still cannot get over the fact that their tuition cost is about an arm and a leg

since they do rolling admissions, you think interviewing after new years is too late?

Just got an interview invite. There are spots in September but October might be more convenient for me. Is there a significant advantage to interviewing in September vs October? Both seem like pretty early interview dates.

Those are the 2007 numbers, these are the 2008 numbers:

Total: 7072 applied, 871 interviewed, 556 were accepted, 178 enrolled
IS: 617 applied, 166 interviewed, 108 were accepted, 52 enrolled
OOS: 6455 applied, 705 interviewed, 448 were accepted, 126 enrolled

I'm gonna guess that with the economy the way it is, we're gonna see the acceptance rate climb higher again this year. This school is REALLY expensive all around.

I know that someone posted the source for these numbers in another thread, but I don't remember which one. Where did these stats come from?

Is there a status update to your page as well?

Hey I'm wondering if Tufts is generally pretty quick to send out their secondaries? My AMCAS has been verified for almost 2 weeks now and Tufts is one of the few schools left on my list that I haven't received a secondary for. Granted, being verified for 2 weeks isn't that long, but it seems some people in this thread received secondaries even before their AMCAS was verified? Should I call the school and ask?

Tufts, like some other schools, doesn't list the number of applicants accepted, which is a pretty helpful stat.

I've been looking at mdapps to get a rough estimate of this (i.e. what is the percentage of people accepted that received an interview).

Here are a couple: Case (38%), BU (34%), Tufts (43%), UCSF (44%), Einstein (25%).

Of course, you have to take these numbers with a grain of salt since mdapps is a very small sample size and may not be representative. But it's still interesting, and 2-4 interviews per acceptance sounds about right.

108/166??!?! 😱

Holy ****, you're a MA resident, get an interview and you're in!

Does anyone have any idea how Tufts views alumni? I got an early interview invite, and am wondering if it was just a courtesy invitation. Does Tufts offer all alum interviews?

Does anyone know if they still offer an MD/MALD joint degree program?

I don't want to earn an MA from Fletcher but a MALD. On their website, they show a few MD/MALD students.

quick question. my interview is on the 22nd, and i'm flying to boston on the 20th night (i'll arrive the morning of the 21st). I wanna leave the 23rd morning (like 6AM) so i could enjoy boston for one more night, but the subway (or whatever they call it in boston) doesn't run that early. does anybody from boston know if a cab ride from downtown boston to logan airport is expensive or would i be better off going to the airport late the night before and just staying there all night?

This school still hasn't given me a secondary and it's been 2.5 weeks since my app was verified. Gettingg... frustrated... 😡

I might be remembering incorrectly, but I think a cab from somerville to the airport is around $30-40. So something like that from downtown too, probably. I would pay it and not stay at the airport!

Hey - I got an invite to interview for the Maine Track. Anybody else here a Maine Track applicant?

just an idea...

it seems like a lot of interviews were extended on sept 4. maybe they extend interview offers on fridays? or maybe the first friday of the month? or maybe im just certifiably female and read into things too much?

yes, this is about the right price. is your flight at 6 am or you want to take the T at 6am. if the latter, it definitely runs then,

Their website says the adcomm "meets monthly" in any other context that would mean once a month, but in the context of med school apps, it means jack
