on my way out of my interview last week, I overheard someone in the office say that the meeting for the interviewers was on the 17th (as in, tomorrow) so we might be hearing back soon!
 
I am interviewing with this school in a few months, so I'm just curious ... but does everyone receive the "update contact info" email regardless of Tuft's decision?

well, they send that email before the decision is made, so yeah.

i got that email on october 21 and got a call on november 3rd. so, quite a bit of a gap for our group (but i remember it was only a few days for the first group)
 
Does anyone know cheap nearby hotels that have a corporate rate with Tufts. Everything I have found so far has been expensive and their interview email didn't have any suggestions. Any recommendations would be very helpful! 😀
 
I stayed at the Hampton Inn at Boston Crosstown Center. It was about a mile from the school. They had a Tufts/BU Medical rate about $129, with complimentary breakfast and shuttle to/from the airport and Tufts! That was the cheapest I found everything else was close to $200!

I did a priceline.com bid - stayed at the Tremont Marriott in the theater district for $75 a night. It is a block over from Tufts

Doubletree (Downtown/Back Bay, I think). $105 a night Tufts/New England Medical Center rate.

Hmm, they told me $109...but Doubletree was the cheapest I could find...they're only a street over also...
 
Thanks guys for all the advice. I ended up booking at Doubletree. Now time to figure out what I want to do in Boston for three days!! 😀

So apparently those of us who interviewed in late Oct/early Nov should hear something very soon? I'm curious to find out the verdict of my decidedly mediocre interview.

Any new interview invites recently? Or pre-interview rejections? Been complete since Sept & nada.

Same here. The waiting game is ridiculous (not just for Tufts). Invite me or reject me just so I can stop worrying so much.

They go through a few rounds of pre-interview reviews, check out the FAQ on their website.

I hear you. The waiting can be stressful. I often feel powerless and grumpy, not to mention BROKE. But I'm sure it will all feel worth it in August 2010 - or four years from then 🙂
 
So does anybody know how information will be delivered to us this week in terms of admissions decisions? Should I stop obsessively checking my email and start answering any unknown numbers on my phone? Or is it all snail mail? The snow is so-so here in the Rockies so there is only so much time I can spend snowboarding as a distraction from the "please update your contact information" email I received last Monday...

and it seems they call Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons (eastern time)
 
Does anyone have the interviewed to accepted ratio for Tufts? I remember a post way earlier that getting an interview was the big hurdle. And that many people are accepted once interviewed (about 60%)? Is this true or wishful thinking on my part 😀
 
For those of you that were recently accepted, have you checked your online status to see what it says about account registration? It still says "Class of 2013" on mine when I clicked the tab.

Ehhh.. not yet.. I'm still stuck in the pre-interview pool hoping somebody will pick me. 😛 This is giving me awful flashbacks to 2nd grade kickball and getting picked last.

Nah....no use. We would've gotten an email either way, so the decisions must not be up yet. Besides, this place will blow up once emails/calls start rolling in.
 
Sorry - apparently I am not up on the latest gossip! How did we decide that people might start hearing things "early this week"?

Also, all you people who are hoping for calls this week, are you October interviewees? I was Oct 19 - it would be great to hear something before thanksgiving, but honestly I am not holding my breath! I am guessing most of you are early Oct/late Sept?

you didn't get the email? all applicants interviewing late october/early november got an email last week saying they were sending out letters "early this week" and that we should update our addresses.

fyi, don't be surprised if you don't hear anything this week, the last group was delayed a week without a word and everyone had a heart-attack.

Yep, I'm not shocked, just disappointed we didn't hear this week.
 
I'm interviewing here on 12/10. Does anybody have an opinion on how they liked Tufts vs other schools. All I heard was that Tufts is super expensive and gives no fin-aid, and otherwise no one has said whether or not they like it.

Also, I know (not too well though) a few people from previous years who were bent on going to a highly ranked school in a big city and ended up at Tufts. I'm not sure on why they chose Tufts, if they just didn't get into Harvard and the other ivys or if its because they really liked Tufts.

I didn't think I'd like it, and loved it after my interview. Shot up my "board". They give out up to 1/2 tuition need-based scholarship, that I'll probably qualify for, making it not too ridiculously expensive for me.

I really enjoyed my interview at Tufts. I was impressed with how smoothly and efficient the interview process ran compared to some other schools I interviewed at. Everything was on script and timely and that says a lot about a school. The 8-floor med school building is fantastic which also includes a convenient gym on the lower level. The hospital is also connected to the med school building so you rarely go outside once you're in the school. The curriculum is revamped and makes you complete your pre-clinical years in 1.75yrs freeing up time to prep for boards/relax. Another good thing about Tufts is that you can get there easily by public transportation(the train stops right by the hospital).

I interviewed at Case and Rochester and my favorite was Tufts. You can easily get lost trying to navigate through those schools. I love coming to school in the morning and not have to worry about mapquesting my way around or deal with the endless walking.Both schools have great academic reputation but in terms of student life,comfort and social scene, I'll put Tufts higher. I guess when you are a non-trad, you place value on certain intangibles.

Finally, Tufts does offer financial aid but it's need-based so not everyone qualifies. Keep an open mind when you go to your interview, ask questions and, in the end, decide for yourself where you want to spend 4 years of your life.

Does everybody receive a phone call or only those that are accepted?
I have to work today and I don't get cell coverage in the hospital...all these neurotic thoughts just in HOPES that I receive an acceptance!!!!

Congrats to everybody that has already had a happy wake up call this morning!

P.S. Do you guys think the phone calls will all come out today since its Thanksgiving tmr???
