Rejected this morning... pre-interview... via e-mail... stats are on MDapps profile.

Just need a bit of clarification in terms of financial aid rewards. So at the end of March/April we will receive our financial aid notices. Some people will receive 50% scholarships, 25 % scholarships, and others will receive nothing. My question is if those people who receive scholarships/grants to schools, but by May 15th choose to go to a different school, do these funds get reallocated to somebody else? Is it possible to not receive financial aid before (end of March), but after the class is set around May 15th, to receive a new updated financial aid statement and possibly receive money??

I'm a bit clueless about this part of the process

Are all scholorships need based?

I would think we would all get sunk together as it does seem like invites are over here. I guess they just like taking us down one by one...

Congrats to all that have made their decision and best wishes to those waiting to hear.

I withdrew from everywhere else and decided on Tufts this morning. Back to Beantown:soexcited:

If any of you would like to connect outside of SDN I created a facebook group. It will save people who are looking for admission information from having to troll through all our excited rants.

Congrats on your decision! I'll see you in Boston this fall! 🙂

2 questions

Since tufts is P/F the first 2 years, is there any benefit to doing extremely well in the classes besides personal knowledge? For instance, will there be a class rank during the 1st 2 years that will be communicated to residencies?

Also, does Tufts drug test ever?

I think I was offered the final interview of the season yesterday.
submitted secondary 12/6

How fast do they get back to you about decisions? My interview was on Mar. 9.

I don't know if it changes as the season goes on, but I interviewed mid Feb. and found out 12 days later. So hopefully you'll hear something soon.

That sounds like this Monday! I am excited this is definitely where I want to go!

Yeah they had an awesome interview day. But don't expect to hear on Monday, at least going by mine and some other people's experiences. I got a phone call from an unidentified number Sunday midday and let it go to voicemail. Wish I had answered it...

When do you think?

Oh sorry if that wasn't clear. I was just saying you should expect the possibility of hearing good news this Sunday.

When do you think?
they tend (keyword: tend, not always) to review applications at the end of the month, so you probably won't hear until the very end of March or beginning of April.

This is an observation, not a promise

That's true I forgot to consider that, my call came on the 28th, so maybe if I had interviewed a week earlier it would have been 19 and not 12 days. Anyways, it won't be too long either way. Although a week can feel like an eternity at this point.

I was accepted exactly 14 days from my interview date. I missed the phone call too 😳....I was sad

So, this Sunday or Tuesday is when they will most likely call me, but not Monday. Im so nervous now!

When was your interview and acceptance? Was the acceptance call at the end of the month or the middle?

Honestly, you are going to drive yourself crazy figuring out exact dates. They can call from anytime from the 12th day to the 21st day.....no set schedule.

If I were you, I would just relax and not sit by your phone b/c that's going to make you more nervous.

Does anyone know if the March 12th priority financial aid deadline applies to those waitlisted as well? And what about students who are interviewing and waiting to hear back from Tufts....March 12 just seems way too early.

I'm not sure about people who had yet to interview by the deadline, but I do know that at my interview day they stressed repeatedly that the deadline applied even if you had not heard anything back post-interview yet. So it would definitely apply then to those waitlisted as well. And of course it is just the priority deadline, so if you missed it you aren't precluded from fin aid, just no priority consideration.

I was accepted 16 days after. 🙂 I missed the call as well since I was driving on the freeway from my college to home. I thought my mom was calling me and I was like "geez doesn't she know I'm driving hahaha."

does anyone know who exactly is involved in determining who gets in/waitlisted/rejected? Is the admissions committee made up of people who do the interviewing? Is the dean always present at these adcom meetings? Do you know if he has the final say in determining who gets in?

Thanks

Impressive.

6 Rads, 6 Ortho, 3 ENT, 2 derm, 2 radonc, 1 nuerosurg. A lot of the people who mached IM or peds matched to some pretty topprograms as well (Mass Gen, UCSF, etc.)

I know I was imperssed too

Does Tufts have a lot of wait list movement?

Yes. For a few reasons. Mostly money, and that Tufts accepts a lot of top candidates that also get into and choose schools that are cheaper/give better aid and sometimes slightly better ranked. This is why TUSM usually takes more of the kids that they interview than most other schools.
But really, who cares when/why you get in, as long as you do in the end. It doesn't matter if it's someone's last choice and got in in September or their first choice and got in off the wait list in the summer, we all start fresh in August.

Best of luck!

I just withdrew, so that's one more spot opening up!

+1, exactly. It's a expensive school. During my interview day, there were A LOT of ivy leaguers....i'm not sure if that's how the class make up will be. But I assume there is def waitlist movement.

Has anyone who interviewed in March heard anything back?

Does anyone know when to expect to hear back about financial aid?

Todays the big day! Anyone get the phone call?

Just received an email saying they couldn't offer me an interview. It sounded like they wanted to interview me but couldn't because of too many applicants and maybe because I applied too late. Oh well...I wasn't expecting an interview this late.

I called the adcom office. They said they are meeting for March interviewees sometime next week.

I just got the same email - does that mean that there was a pool of people they were keeping for possible interviews?

or were all the rejectees just sent out ALL at once today? were there rejections sent out before this?

Got the rejection email too. I'm pretty sure we all got the same one, and sadly, it doesn't necessarily mean they wanted to give us interviews but couldn't. I got another email from another school that specifically said I was in the interview pool, but this one didn't.

OOOhh it's in May not March, I guess I was wrong about that.

In terms of the May 15th date, so that means that as funds become available to Tufts (as more students withdraw despite being given grants), that these funds are not given to students that were "next in line" to receive the grant.... Ok sorry I just thought that's what would happen.

Do you think they will get the packets to us in early May? My decision may come down to money.

Also, its been a while since I interviewed and I wanted to get in touch with a current student to talk to so I can ask questions that may help me make my decision and maybe take a second tour of campus. I didn't save anyone's contact info from my interview day so I can't call up my tour guides from interview day. What is the best way to find a student who is willing to talk to me about Tufts. Are there some names/emails in the interview folder? I know Tufts doesn't have a second look but I was hoping the admissions office can hook me up with someone to talk to, so I emailed them but they haven't responded.

Also, do you think its worth it to pay the high tuition at Tufts vs going to my state school for $23,000/yr? I think Tufts is alot nicer but I'm not sure if it justifies $140,000 in extra loans. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
