Interviewed on 9/28....just called to find out no decision has been made yet:shrug:
They said I'd receive an email either way once a decision has been reached. I wonder if that means I'm in the "acceptable range".....

I haven't heard anything either 🙁 Really wish I would have a received an acceptance. The remaining time here in grad school would be a lot less stressful...

So I finally got a complete e-mail from Tulane this afternoon (submitted 8/26). From what a lot of people have posted, it seems like this just means a rejection e-mail is coming not too far behind. So I'm curious - did anyone who received a complete e-mail later get an e-mail interview invite?

Got same email as you Arina Sky around 6pm est. Don't count us out already. I noticed that trend too... but be positive!

I think I've given up on this school. All my emails go unanswered and all my phone calls go to voicemail. Reminding me of a bad break up. 🙄

I submitted my app 8/9...and I know all my stuff was in
got "complete" email on 10/2
still haven't heard whether an interview is in my future
bad sign?

I think it's too early to say that...I'm still waiting to hear back myself but I submitted pretty late on 9/26/09. No complete email yet but not everyone receives one apparently.

From what I understand they have been sending rejection emails pre-interview recently so if you haven't received one I wouldn't say it's a bad sign. Just hang in there and hope for the best! 👍

rejection email this morning...what a way to wake up. happy monday everybody!

It seems that Tulane has done most of their rejections pre interview. Other than the acceptances, has anyone heard any news about their status post interview?

Got my acceptance letter in the mail today along with a letter saying that they are offering me a half tuition scholarship. 🙂 I love you too, Tulane.

Dang...they must love you. No letter about $$ for me 🙁
Eh, we'll see if they come through with financial aid come spring...bleh

The letter implied that there were other forms of scholarships to be awarded (including full-tuition), but that they haven't decided on those yet.

Girl bye! You're amazing and will probably get more money from them and other schools...I guarantee it! Congrats again though!

Good question and I wish I had an answer. The information given to us at the interview suggests that acceptances, rejections, and waitlists will be assigned two weeks post-interview.

Since people on my interview day have already heard back with acceptance emails and I haven't heard anything, I'm wondering if this means that I haven't been reviewed or whether a decision has been made to not accept, but that they're holding off on releasing that info.

Maybe no news is might be good news at this point.

I would imagine that the waitlist and waitlist movement at this school is huge. Its been 3 weeks for me without any word and I'm assuming waitlist if I don't hear anything on Friday

I was about to ask if anyone else got offered some $$$ and I saw you were offered half tuition. Nicee, I don't feel as special now but I was offered 10,000.

ACCEPTED!!! Interviewed last Friday! It really helps to send Dr. Beckman a STRONG letter of interest via email. She responded within a few hours very enthusiastically, for all those waiting!!

I cannot believe it!!!

Got my acceptance e-mail today. Ditto to LeavingThisLab (and congrats, it was nice to meet you) about the letter of intent, it really seemed to help. DAMN, less than a week. I'm so excited right now, let's just go ahead and do it:

TULANE SOM Class of 2014!

congrats everyone! seems like Tulane is making lots of people very happy 🙂

hi everyone, i was hoping to send a letter of interest (i am pre-interview) and was wondering if it is at all worthwhile considering i haven't interviewed....i figured i would either mail it or e-mail it to a specific person, not just the general admissions e-mail....does anyone have any suggestions if i should go ahead and send it or if it will just be thrown away?

thanks and congrats to all of you that have been accepted

I would send it to Dr. Beckman. They seem very interested in people who are interested in their school... I would also talk about some connection to New Orleans in the letter because she seems very interested in people who are interested in the city. If you have done community service there that would be even better (but talking about service in general and how you are anxious to serve the city of New Orleans would probably work too). Good luck!

thanks for your input, that is exactly what i was planning to write about, can i find Dr. Beckman's e-mail address on the school's website?

I wanted to apply to their TRuMed program but the Tulane website makes it look like they only want their in-staters to apply. 1. Does anyone know any details about this? 2. I emailed the rural program on Sunday, is Tulane just really slow/backed up?

Congrats on the acceptances, guys! Remember to join the Facebook group if you are pretty sure you are headed to Tulane.

Thanks!!

She said, "
We're delighted to hear that you felt that your visit to Tulane solidified your impressions. I also take great pleasure in hearing such feedback which helps us be "efficient" about who really, really wants to join our community. You will hear from us soon! Thanks so much."

Good luck!!

FWIW, I sent an e-mail post-interview and haven't heard any news despite it being almost 3 weeks. If they aren't sure about you, I'm sure that the e-mail will not change their minds.

lol ok. no one?

next question:

did anyone get an interview invite after oct. 12?

and one more :

who here has the latest interview date? any decembers?

Just received an interview invite today!!!! I submitted my application in July and received a complete e-mail in September. There is still hope for those of you waiting!

Anyone here interview with a <30 MCAT?

I'm a T1, and I will tell you what I've heard about this -- bear in mind that it's a rumor that did not come from anyone involved in admissions, and it may not be true. But I have HEARD that Tulane is implementing an MCAT cutoff of 30 starting this year. The reason for this is that Tulane is, relatively speaking, not a "numbers" school and has enrolled a number of students with MCAT <30 in previous years. The class average step I score took a dip, so the admissions administration is taking steps to fix this and is operating under the assumption that MCAT performance roughly correlates with step I performance (I don't know how true this relationship is). Again, PLEASE do not take this as gospel!!!!

Also, I saw some posts earlier in the thread about scholarship awards -- some people are offered merit scholarships with their acceptances, and some people are offered them later. I do not understand how this process works; maybe the people they really REALLY want get scholarships right away and the people they only really want get them later. But if you haven't been offered merit aid yet, don't lose hope! I didn't receive my scholarship until 4 months after my acceptance, and this happened to a number of my friends as well. Most of the merit awards are $10,000/year, and can be awarded at any time.

For those of you who have been accepted, congratulations! If anyone has anyone questions about the school or New Orleans, feel free to PM me, I'd be happy to give you my take on life down in the Big Easy 🙂
