Mine was about 45 minutes. Same story: Why Wayne? and a lot of other very standard questions.

For anyone who has interviewed, did you get a confimation email or anything the week before? My interview is next Monday and I am wondering if I should email them tomorrow? Thanks everyone.

I did get an email asking me to confirm that I was coming and asking if I wanted to go on the tour of the campus. I think it came a week before the interview or maybe a couple of days before

Nice to know there's some system in place. The snail mail invite and relative dearth of information on the website made this whole process at Wayne State seem really surreal.

Hey guys,

Did those of you who got interview invites get them through both mail and e-mail? or did some of you only get it through the mail?

Thanks!

From what I understand -- everybody gets mail, but if the time between the invite & interview is short -- they also email.

I've been complete since Aug 21, so it's nearing 3 months without any word. Am I pretty much done for?

i would say that, i interviewed yesterday with lowish stats and I'm from Canada as well. They have only had one round of decisions on october 21st with 6 more to go. This means that there will be 5 more waves of invites being sent over the next few months. You still have quite a bit of time to receive ur interview invite.

Could someone who has been interviewed already kindly post the dates each month that they will notify people of acceptance/rejection decisions? I had the paper from when I interviewed last month, but seem to have lost it.

As a follow up to that, does anyone know if letters of interest do any good once you're in the alternate pile and are waiting every month to see if they finally like you? Or do you get a final score and that's that?

I lost the book they give you before you interview--it was a really interesting read. I wish I could find another copy.

i'm nervous about tomorrow, either good news or i'll have to suffer the rest of the cycle in uncertainty.

For those who interviewed, what do you think of the school/your interview experience?

As a fellow Californian. I think it would be a good board prep school with well run lecture recording systems. Nice facilities to study. And superb clinical training.

That's about it though. The interview was ok. Of the three that I've been to it was definitely the least eventful or intriguing. But whatever, I'm easy. I looked at your mdapps page. If I had to choose between chicago and detroit. detroit who? where's that in canada? No comparison. But city is more important to me than a lot of things. so. you know.

The cost is f'n redonkulus. So I'm probably withdrawing my app before too long.

For those who interviewed, what do you think of the school/your interview experience?

I really liked the school. as for my interview experience, my interviewer and I really hit it off and had a very enjoyable conversation. the two M1 tour guides were terrific; one even bought us all lunch and has given me some good information in subsequent email correspondence. I like Detroit and environs, but I grew up there and have friends and family there. if I'd never lived or even been there before visiting the school, I probably wouldn't be too excited about spending four years there. but yeah, the prospect of paying non-resident tuition is very unappealing.

Alternate list, exactly what I expected from my interview... got interviewed by the diversity and minority relations chair, she was clearly disappointed that I wasn't disadvantaged in any way.👍

Alternate list as well 🙁 I thought my interview went fairly well, too.

Alternate list. This is my most disappointing waitlist yet considering I'm a MI resident, higher gpa and mcat than averages, my interviewer seemed to love me, and they have a huge class size. Ugh.

Accepted!

I'm sorry to those placed on the alt list, I surely know how it feels.

alternate list. it stings a little. the worst part is waiting until december to hear again.

congratulations to all those accepted,
realistically speaking, what are the chances for waitlisters to see any news before april/may? does anyone know?

I heard that most people on waitlist eventually will get in because of Wayne State's big class but most people are on the list due to the acceptance limit for each month...though I'm not one hundred percent sure.

But if u are instate than ur chances are higher.

oh and do they have different waitlist for IS and OOS people or are we all in the same boat?

Hey could anybody answer the following?

1. I interviewed early in September and am still on the waitlist. (just read the email) I'll second the question--when do most waitlisted people get accepted? (If they are accepted, that is)? I saw an old thread and somebody said that most of the movement from the waitlist occurs in June, July, even just before class starts.

2. The school I would currently be attending starts school in late June (really early) so if WSUCOM accepts people from the waitlist after late June, I won't be able to attend WSUCOM.

3. Did anybody get accepted form the waitlist yet? Gosh, I feel like such a loser...🙁

Don't fret. You have two acceptances to amazing programs. I would figuratively kill to have the chance to interview here or at either of the other places you were accepted. Congratulations on what you've been able to accomplish thus far.

I've been complete since mid-late October and still haven't heard anything from this school. At what point should I be worried about not receiving an interview?

1. This may be a stupid question, but does anybody know what exactly "matriculate" means? Does one matriculate into a medical school when attending the first day of class or just when all the paperwork (finger print/back ground check, deposits) has been turned in?

2. Also, does anybody know the answers to the below 3 questions I posted earlier? Thanks.

"Applicants that have matriculated into any U.S. allopathic or osteopathic school of medicine during the present application year will be withdrawn from any further consideration for admission by Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Same here. I saw a few pages back on this thread that the next time they'll be meeting to discuss who to interview will be in early December. So we probably haven't been complete long enough to even go before the committee for an interview decision.

from what i hear, interview invites went out based on MCAT scores. For all of us (including myself) who were waitlisted today and in late october, it's most likely due to the fact that the first few applicant pools are highly competitive. I was very surprised to see that I didn't get accepted with a 31 O and a 3.79/3.7 gpa and all of the volunteer and clinical stuff i did. I'd like to see the average scores of the accepted thus far.

One of my friends was at one of the first interview dates, 28 MCAT...so I doubt that's correct.

haha, well it was a very nice rumor while it lasted....made being waitlisted feel a lot better

He got wait-listed too...but a wait-list from Wayne is certainly not a death sentence. For the entering class of 2008, 77% of applicants who interviewed were eventually accepted (source: usnews.com) for both IS and OOS. So keep your head held high 🙂

Do they consider the waitlisted applicants each month along with the new applicants or just the new applicants? I've heard it both ways.....

....nm--i didn't read the whole letter.....they do consider you each month

There might be something else going on with his file though. I got an early interview with not so strong stats, but I have very strong family connections at Wayne. Or maybe he's just lucky!

Does anyone know if people have actually gotten rejected post-interview, or was everyone either accepted or put on the alternate list?

i doubt they send out rejections this early in the cycle, at least thats what i gathered from last years thread. The statistic about 77% getting accepted is reassuring. I just hope i'm not in the 23% that doesn't get accepted.

Congrats to those who received acceptances and best of luck to those still waiting.

I withdrew my acceptance at Wayne last week, so I hope one of you guys gets it!

Thanks for the help, now if only 50 more people withdraw!

finally sent my secondary in!

crossing fingers for an intw

and a chance at that 77%!

I wonder if they'll eventually tell you your position on the waitlist

As I understand it, they don't rank ppl as #1, #2, #3...etc., but give them ratings like 3.0, 2.9, 2.8 and they offer positions to people with the highest ratings first.

ahhh, thanks for clearing that up. this whole process makes me feel old--i woke up this morning and my back was hurting...i bet the gray hair comes next.

Exact same situation here. I was really surprised. My interviewer keep asking me about other schools I've interviewed at and been accepted to. I got the feeling he was trying to judge whether I would actually go to Wayne based upon my other acceptances. I thought this was totally out of line and I can't help but think it played a part in my decision.

Congrats though to everyone accepted!
