Hi all, I'm new here. Just wanted to share that I received an interview invite from UPenn this morning. So they're starting to come!
Indeed, I just got my interview offer from New Mexico earlier today.

I wanted to add myself to this list. I am an MS4 out in Portland, and would love to give info about OHSU's program if you have questions (I did a year-long student fellowship here). Basically, I love the program and the area, and think that you should consider it if you are looking at West Coast path programs.
I also got my first interview last Friday from UNM.
)Can u believe there are still 2 programs that have not downloaded my application?, is this happening to you too? 😕
hi vickypath Why do u intend to change from IM to path? Which colleges did u apply
First rejection today. 😱 OUCH!
who from, if you don't mind my asking?
i know the issue of which track to apply to is covered in other threads, but i'm wondering, does anyone ever apply to more than one track per program? i'm waffling. does anyone know if you apply ap/cp, if you can switch at any point? or would you check ap/cp, and also ap/research, and just rank them on your match list? or would you just apply ap/cp and talk to the program director at some point? i don't know how flexible the programs are in terms of number of ap/cp, ap only, cp only they take per year. i'm so confused. i only sent in the apps to schools that offer only one choice at this point because i have no idea!
i asked the same question a few weeks back. here's the link to thread and the discussion: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=544038&highlight=ERAS+combined
Has anyone heard from University of Washington in Seattle? I looked at the interview thread, but didn't see any invites.
Any suggestions as to when to cap the number of interviews? I'm at 14 interviews right now! 😱
I'm a Caribbean ms4 with good lors and good scores, states, etc. I applied to over 50 programs and now I'm starting to think the invites are going to continue to come in... My lovely (I have reviewed it) Deans letter hasn't even posted yet! I just want to make sure I match....... 😕
Hey guys, just wondering if you all want to share were did you match, so that we can see if any of us will be doing residency at the same place.....
I will start:
VickyPath- UM Florida
Please do tell me about Methodist...i'm applying exclusively to the three programs in houston because my husband matched as a Fellow at Baylor and we'll be moving to houston next year...what do u think they were lookong for? highg scores, work experience? how was the faculty and program itself? I actually have applied a little late (my docs downloaded by the programs only recently)..till when do you think I should expect a call if they are sending me one at all...and what do u think I could do to improve my chances of getting one now?Casting a wide net is great, if you can afford it. I had 15 interviews around the country, and wound up staying locally, but interviewing around gave me a great perspective on different styles of program... it also let me meet a lot of big name people and future resident colleagues, so that part was fun.
One caveat I will have about recommendations - the information / impression you hear from people will often be semi-wrong or based on dated information... so try to keep a semi-open mind. At the same time, if you hear something from multiple sources, there's probably some truth to it.
Additionally, don't forget the growing database of residnecy interview reviews here. Pathology has one of the higher amounts of reviews, and I am in the process of slowly adding all mine. The 2008 applicants thread and rank/match threads might be useful too.
Finally, I want to throw in my recommendation for the program I'll be joining in July, Methodist in Houston... obviously I can give you a more inside perspective after July 1, but it has terrific faculty, great training, happy residents, excellent benefits, an incredible research track, and the cost of living cannot be beat! There are several programs in the area you could work into a single visit... and if you come down, I promise to buy you a beer. 🙂

yes it's early, but now that the 2008 match is over and done with, i thought i'd start a thread for the 2009 group. It'll be nice to see who's out there and how we fare throughout this process. so at the bottom of this I'll start a list and then when people add to it please copy the prior list and add yourself, such that a cumulative list gets posted with each new declared applicant.
as mlw03 did, i'll post some of the programs i hope to get some love from:
OHSU
Vermont
Dartmouth
Utah
Pitt
Penn State
SUNY Upstate
UC Davis
Duke
UNC
Wake Forrest
Yale
VCU
West Virginia
UNM
U Colorado
U Maryland
i'd say thats the more ambitious excerpts from my complete list. so if i get interviews from 1/4 of these places i'll be tickled.
