That is considered a parking violation? I'm certainly not attempting to be dense. I guess that wording was just a little ambiguous for me.

So in a bit of irony I stumbled upon my old speeding ticket from like 2 months ago (grumble, dumb ticket, dumb story, RAGE). Mine is personally marked as a traffic violation but NOT a misdemeanor. It depends on your personal type of traffic violation. They're concerned with whether or not you've got a criminal record, not how the cop was feeling that day.

So I have some questions about the volunteer section. If I have been volunteering with a place of and on for about a year, but only have about 50 hours cumulative then how do I put this in the average weekly hours?

Also if I have made the Dean's list for multiple quarters how do I put this on the awards page?

Thanks for the help

I participated in Relay For Life at my university two years in a row. It was fundraising and then the 24 hour walk-a-thon (which was a blast 🙂). I participated in this event as a member of my sorority's RFL team, and helped with planning of fund-raising events, and it was one of our biggest philanthropic events of the year. Would you guys recommend putting this as its own EC on the application, or simply including it in the description of what I did in my sorority? I ask because I am the founding president of our sorority, so I was trying to focus on that aspect of it in the description of that particular EC.

I did this also when I was the class officer of my graduate school. I decided that I wanted to add this in the description of my officer/leadership position. I figured I could show the many ways I was active as an officer rather than breaking each thing down and not having anything to write about when I got to my position. I suppose either way would be fine...

I'm verified as well... So does this mean when we submit and pay on June 1, the schools get our application right then?

It takes about 10 working days for your materials to reach and be processed by the schools.

Despite having not received a transcript for my spring coursework from a new school (UCLA Extension) my transcripts received box is checked, the extension name is in, not a "UNKNOWN SCHOOL" Message and the layout of adding coursework as well as my GPA have changed. Looks like I'm verified as well 😎 That'd be cool considering they were saying they'd need spring grades before doing anything with my app.

Where are you seeing your gpa? I used to see it before they verified, and now I don't see either my cgpa or sgpa. I'd like to just make sure they are calculating it the same as me.

Mine is still showing similar to how it was before the check mark arrived. Maybe its not completely verified yet. My GPA definitely changed (went up) though so i'm not entirely sure how that worked but i'm not complaining

Mine is gone too! I would also like to see this calculated GPA... I can't remember if they showed it after processing the last times I applied.

You guys are verified already?! How?! They received my transcripts awhile ago but never verified me 🙁.

I entered the class I am going to take this summer at UCLA ext, but I entered the college as UCLA, is that wrong? I thought UCLA=UCLA ext ?

I'm not really sure why some of us are getting verified early. I had 2 of my transcripts received on May 12, and the other on May 19. I had my MCAT score sent the first week, and I checked that I was done entering coursework for each school. If you haven't checked that box, I don't supposed they'd start verifying.

I thought maybe since I have a fee waiver (technically they won't get payment anyway unless I chose more schools) and all my stuff was in it may have helped.

Maybe there were just some bored staff that thought they'd get a jump on the early birds.

here is my situation. i took orgo 1, and got a C in the lecture, [A in the lab]. i'm taking orgo 2 next month as a summer intensive, and will give it my best to succeed. regardless of what i receive in orgo2, i'm thinking about using the DO school replacment rule for orgo 1, i know i can do better than a C.

i'm probably going to take orgo 1 under a different course name, since it changed in structure from the first time i took it. originally it was orgo chem1[-4 credits, orgo lab was a separate course, but now its included in the course].

now its principles of organic chemistry [5 credits].

Are these two classes interchangable despite the different credits, course id, and course name?

Weird, I did check that box. Oh well, I don't have my MCAT score though and won't have it until August 🙁 maybe that's why.

I'm gonna pretend no one is verified so I feel better haha

My guess is yes. I, unfortunately haha, also took orgo more than once. The first time I took it was as a 3 hr lecture and then a separate 1 hr lab. My lab grade was grade, but I had to enter the two separate grades on AACOMAS. The second course I took was entered as a 4 hr Orgo I. As long as you list them under the same course type (what is it, chemistry or more specifically, organic chemistry on the app? I forget...), you should be fine. I never had any problem with having the course listed two different ways at least. Plus remember, AACOMAS verifies everything against your transcript, so if they see an issue, better believe they'll let you know!

Hello everyone,

I am just wondering where I should include my certificate of completion/appreciation? I thought of putting them under Awards, Honors, Scholarships, but to be honest, those certificates aren't that impressive. Or should i just dont include them?

It will replace as long as the REPLACING course has the same number of credits or more then the original course--no less.

after college, I went to work with my dad full time (40 hrs/week)

however, I didn't actually get paid for this work, I just did to help my family out since I was out of school and I wanted to pull my weight because I was living at home.

Do I put this on volunteer or as a job, if I put it as a job, should I say I didn't get paid? it's kinda tricky because I might be getting fee waiver and I want them to know why I have no money

thanks guys. now i'm having second thoughts about retaking it. i would have wanted to spend next semester studying for the mcats while taking some random science courses-11 credits worth of them, but wouldn't taking orgo again cut into my mcat studying. here are my current stats-just finished sophomore year. is it worth it to retake? what would you do?

gen chem1: A-
gen chem lab1:A
gen chem 2: A-
gen chem lab 2: A
bio 1: b-
bio 2: A
orgo 1: c
orgo lab 1: A
physics 1: in progress, got a B on the first test,

my cumgpa is around a 3.63, still have a year to go.

It's ur only C...I wouldn't worry about taking it...just redeem urself in orgo 2. As long as u get a good grade in that I would just focus on taking some upper level science courses. Do good in those n you'll never need to look back at orgo 1 again except for mcat

I was looking through the activities/work thread on the MD forum and I just had a question about dean's list.

Everyone said that its not necessary to include it because it is obvious from your grades. I had a poor first semester but have done well ever since. I was thinking that putting dean's list would show that i brought my grades up. Should I still include it? If so, did u guys make an entry for each semester?

and under ECs, is it okay to put position title: hobbies, organization: hobbies? I wanted to list some of the things I do when I'm not studying/trying to get into medical school.

From AACOMAS application instructions:

An applicant who makes the Dean’s List each term should enter this only once, and note in the explanation that this occurred multiple times.

ah i c. but when i go to awards, honors section, it just says name of award, month and year received, and organization. unless i put it under ECs?

i guess i do since it is listed under ECs in the instructions. did u guys do this to?

I was told by a friend not to include them since they're aren't awards more like a "thank you for participating" kind of thing and will come across like you're trying to fill up space, so I would say no just to be safe.

UCLA and ext are diff and diff transcripts enter as a diff school

aacomas got my transcripts and i cant change my course work anymore either. i dont see my sgpa and cgpa

So I just logged on to AACOMAS to go edit my research credit to put it under other-science but it doesn't look like I can change anything...did they already go in and verify my transcript? Do they do that before you submit the app? Because I also could've sworn that I didn't put in my AP's yet but there they are.

The rest of my app is mostly unfinished too so I dunno, can anyone tell me if their coursework has been verified without their app having been submitted 😕

[EDIT]Lol, read the above post after posting. I guess I'm verified, but does it explicitly say verified anywhere? Also, looks like they accepted my research as biology/zoology for any of you still wondering what to put it down as.

You could type in the first time or the most recent time you received it, and type "Received multiple times" in the description section if there is one.

I have a quick question. I had AP credits to place out of my introductory writing class at college. However, during freshmen year I was interested in applying to the pharmacy school where they required that I actually take the class if i wanted to apply. So i ended up taking the writing class. Now i have the credits for this class on my transcript twice. Do i have to say i repeated it? Or should I just leave it the way it is?

????? I'm in the same boat as some of you guys! I put my grades in, but I didn't even look it over to see if I spelled everything right, etc, yet!! Ahhhh! I didn't even enter my AP stuff! But, if it's verified, does that mean that everything is okay? So confused!!!!! Why would they do that before you even submit your application?????

No, they're two separate classes at two different institutions (only thing they have in common is that they're english). You didn't take the second one to replace the first one, I would just list them twice.

And thanks seap, I have that too. Anyone find out where we can see our GPA's now?

Did all of you guys give your registrar's the "Transcript Request Form" on AACOMAS site (and then have them send that along with your transcript to AACOMAS)?

My school runs its transcript request services online now. So, I didn't even get to say anything to the registrar staff about my transcript request. They just sent it to AACOMAS.

I guess I should just call AACOMAS and let them know my transcript didn't have my AACOMAS ID number on it (which is on the "Transcript Request Form" on AACOMAS website)?

You don't have to submit the transcript request form - it just helps to expedite the processing of your application. They will be able to match it up to your application.

Do you happen to know if it will delay my app if I didn't include my AP credits on my AACOMAS before they went ahead and verified it? Thanks!

I haven't used it, but I make sure to specifically state my AACOMAS ID on the address somewhere to make it easier.

Cool, thanks for the replies Neuron and Aidama.

I took MCAT second time on May 22. I am not sure if I will make better than the 1st attempt. I took MCAT last year also and that score was send to AACOMAS.
I plan to submit my application on 1st June and AACOMAS already have my fisrt MCAT score.

If I do mot make better than the 1st attempt, can I chose not to send my MCAT score to AAXOMAS and just let them use the one they already have.

Thanks in advance

Umm, no. That would be deceptive and ethically wrong. Even if you got away with it now, there would be the chance it could be found out and you could have your acceptance revoked.

It just makes sense to be as honest as you possibly can in the application process. (at least to me). You really don't want these things coming back to bite you later.

Not to be mean to you, but I always wonder about these people asking if they can keep certain classes, schools attended, misdemeanors, or mcat scores secret. There is a certain level of trust that is implicet in becoming a physician, and if you can't even be honest in your app it doesn't bode well for your professional years.

No. The application won't be processed (or verified) until the you have at least one set of MCAT scores. You can, and should, submit it as early as possible, but the MCAT scores are required for it to be verified.

I could be wrong but I believe that you are mistaken. I will not have my MCAT scores uploaded until June 22nd, but my status is "verified" already.

I didn't send a waiver and it went through super quick.

As for your second q, I didn't list my AP's either and when I went yesterday to edit them in I found my app was already verified and that they had added the AP's in themselves. Basically, I wouldn't worry about it..

I recently transferred all my grades into AACOMAS and i have a business degree so took many basic type computer classes. The only thing in the "instructions" that lists computer anything is under the Math section as "computer science". however, my computer classes are hardly "science" so should i list them under "other non-science" or under the math category?

FAQ says computer science = math. Regular comp classes are 99% just non-science.

Do you happen to know if it will delay my app if I didn't include my AP credits on my AACOMAS before they went ahead and verified it? Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly, but it seems like MegaThunder's post answers your question (AACOMAS added in the AP classes).

Depending on what schools you're looking at applying to, I would not bother retaking that course! It's time and money wasted and I agree with whoever said you can really just redeem yourself with a decent orgo II grade, as well as a decent physical science score on the MCAT. You could always survey students at schools you're interested in and see if they got in with C's, but I'm certain you'll be fine!
