and much like in plato's allegory, i refuse to believe you. i can't comprehend the immediacy.

Not according to last year's thread....which, if you haven't read it yet, don't. It's like watching people ride the scary roller coaster that you are about to get on even though you don't want to but your mom says you will be just fine and no one has ever died on a roller coaster but PLEASE MOM I DON'T WANT TO IT GOES UPSIDE DOWN :scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

🤣

will we find out bad news this week too?

edit: nvm, didn't read that m...dowe said all letters

Actually, people have died on roller coaster rides, no question about it...😳

But reading past threads may soften the blow for some of us...

im so excited to hear back though.

because of how my interview went, i am kind of expecting to not get good news.

my interviewer was an o.chem phd, i did o.chem research 3 years ago that i care nothing about. not asked about it in any of my other interviews, but it didn't work out so well here haha.

i mean if i do get a rejection, im still going to be disappointed, but my god an acceptance would be breathtakingly awesome lol

Insanity. This was my phone call conversation an hour ago:

Me: Mom, I am expecting a letter from Columbia anytime now. Call me up as soon as you see it.
Mom: I thought Daniella was in Argentina, but a letter is nice. Much better than all that emailing you guys are doing all the time now.
Me: What??? ....and she is in Argentina...
Mom: Oh, and who do you know in Colombia?
Me: Please put Dad on the phone.😱

Be nice to your mother!:meanie:

How many acceptances go out tomorrow? Just enough to fill all the seats or does Columbia over-subscribe?

BTW, Dr Gerrard I feel the same way. No way I won't be greatly disappointed by a rejection but for now it's amazing were still being considered by one of the best all around programs in the country.

They send out about 200ish or so.

For those of us who missed out on interviews, should we expect a rejection email tomorrow?

oh god... ive been quietly monitoring this thread for the words "decisions being mailed"....

now i'm freaking out...

pchem midterm in 8 hours... sleeep.... call home in morning telling them to TOUCH NOTHING with my name on it till i get home!

Seeing as I tell my dad not to open anything and he always does and then calls me... sigh

same exact problem with my parents. a lot of times they dont even call, i just have to wait to go home ugh

thats why i emailed them last week asking them to send it to my school address. hope they got it!

with every bump I die a little inside....

Haha, don't worry yet. Although though NYC is pretty amazing, we don't have same day mail service. Those of us who live here won't even get letters until at least tomorrow.

Is anyone actually expecting any news today? I just checked and (I think I got this right) the first post on last year's thread was on the 4th? In which case we gotta sit tight for a lil while longer.

I hear mail technology has improved quite a bit since 2010...:meanie:

I've been obsessing about this (of course), and I think there's a good chance I could see a letter tomorrow. For example, my W2 was mailed (post-marked by a mail machine at the school) from Cornell Medical (as you know, also Manhattan) and, unless memory isn't serving me, I got it in BK the next day. So, assuming there isn't some kind of interoffice delay between Admissions and USPS, tomorrow could be it for people in the city.

Not unless you're going to the admissions office and picking up your letter personally.

I am at work across the street right now... please don't give me ideas!

Yea, that is a great idea! Go try and let us know if it works. 😀 I would totally leave work early to go and get mine.

I work across the street as well and I called and they said they would much rather have all decisions go out via mail. She also said ALL decisions are going out this week so yea.

I wish I could just pick it up

Shucks. "Much rather" though? I bet persistence could make it happen.

lol, I did my part by calling, the next person should just walk in there!

@ tribe: I am a lab tech 🙂 goodluck to you too

Dudes/dudettes, I need four cadavers for a project on wallenberg syndrome. First four pre-meds who walk into the admissions office today will be considered volunteers. Everyone else agrees to volunteer to be standardized patients for rectal exams.

Translation: The admissions office has no authority or ability to transmit decisions via phone or in person. The admissions committee is a separate entity. Please don't make those ladies suffer any more by trying to force it out of them!

just called them and nothing has been mailed out yet. i just changed the address i want it sent to, so it seems as though there is still some time too?

do you think the person i talked to on the phone has any idea of whether or not we are accepted after she looked up what address my letter would be sent to? i'm sure i'm reading a bit more into this than necessary, but she gave me the "good luck with everything" i have gotten with every piece of bad news i received this cycle haha

edit: just saw your post mmmcdowe... hopefully i wasn't too much of a hassle. i just wanted to make sure my letter will be coming to me at school instead of going home

Just jokes! 🙂

I want to be somewhere private when I find out anyway, and I wouldn't be able to wait until I got home if I was able to pick the letter up.

Haha awesome. I have no idea if that info is on there. Awesome
way to try and get an early feel for your decision though.
