every time there is a new email in my inbox my soul dies a little

Email at a specific time and then official letters you can hold would be nice. That's how college admissions worked for me. I liked that I knew I could stop freaking out after 5 pm on a specific day. It erased the burden of constantly checking since I knew the time and date to check once.
I totally agree with ltmein, I like having the letter but it's nice to know you will get the news on a particular day at a particular time. Umich and some other schools do it like this, which I really appreciated.

Got the packet today but I live in Manhattan so not sure if most folks will. Dunno what kind of mail bc I was told via phone call from home-sorry

Just an FYI, while I'm not sure if decisions went out on time (yesterday), they are going to be overnighting the acceptances and most likely going to email wait lists and rejections. In other words, people could be getting the acceptances today. They plan to delay wait lists and rejections a bit so that all decision come out around the same day.

Hope this doesn't just fuel your insanity 😉

Time to revise my "Things that Freak Me Out re: Columbia Decision" List:

1. Phone call from my parents. (if sent to permanent address)
2. My mailbox. (if sent to preferred address)
3. A call from my roommate. (if he gets home first)
4. SDN
3. My gmail inbox on my computer.
4. My gmail inbox on my phone. (Curses, smartphone!)
5. Text messages (same alert sound as emails)
6. Gchat messages (ditto)
7. The flashing light on my phone when I have any sort of new message.
8. My ability to read said messages.
9. Vision in general.

Let's go back to the cave. Who's with me?:scared:

All acceptances went out yesterday. Priority, so that they could go through the postal service, which can only take 1 day for many people but it billed as 2-3 days officially.

Waitlists are not all out yet, but will be sent by mail.

Rejections will be emailed.

Any indication of when rejection emails go out?

Maybe I'm getting confused with another school but I didn't think Columbia gives outright rejections, but does tier 1 and tier 2 waitlists where tier 2=rejection (essentially), no?

That's Penn

Not sure if want...

I have to wait until the end of the week to get the letter anyway since I have my stuff sent to my parents' house and I'm not going home till the end of the week..:-(

Hope people get these magical overnight letters!

Edit: whoops, didn't see that people were already getting them. Congrats!

My brother at my permanent address is too lazy right now to check the mail. When I called him he said he "may do it later."

Fudgemuffins.

If younger brother, you should have threatened him.

If older brother, you should have threatened to tell on him 😛

wait so these are definitely going to our permanent addresses?

Oh man, I'm dying to hear back from Columbia. I'm in the mid-South though, so if I was sent a letter I'm not expecting it till at least tomorrow...ahhh

Same. Would be SO pumped to get in, but I can't help but assume a waitlist at best. Sooooo many applicants interviewed. Tomorrow will be the day if we are in the lucky group. I would think by the end of the week for waitlists for sure. Good luck!

i'm upstate new york and haven't heard anything yet, but i feel like i will have been waitlisted.

interviewed with dean nicholas, and interviewing with the dean of admissions always makes me nervous.

Does anyone know if all MSTP acceptances for Columbia were handed out already? I know some were last week, but did all of them go out? Thanks!

Brother just checked the mail...

Me: See any priority mail?
Him: Lets see, no , no, no... here's one!
Me: YESSSSS!!!
Him: Oh, its addressed to dad. Its something else. Nothing.
Me: Monkey balls.

So the wait continues (live on East Coast, but not in NY).

Hmm-- so no acceptances outside of NYC today? I feel like we would have heard about them by now...

They didn't say, sorry. But my guess is they'll do it right after they finish sending the wait-lists, which should be by the end of the week. Good luck! Let me know if I'm going to see you for revisit!!!

Got the packet in Queens today...Facebook group time?

Good luck to those who haven't heard yet!

Is there any online accepted students login thing? Like something we could try to sign into, but if logging in doesn't work then we know we didn't get in?

i'm from nyc, a borough other than manhattan though... and i received nothing today... here's to tomorrow!

Last year the 1st year admissions rep made one so that it could be used to coordinate second look and stuff.

Nope.

mmmcdowe, any word about whether all md/phd acceptances have gone out yet? Thanks a lot!
