@OMGD--and no one can guarantee it will only be a few days. They all just assumed that : / That's not necessarily the case, as those few poor Loyola applicants will tell you. Maybe a day doesn't seem like any big deal to most in this thread, but weeks definitely are a big deal.

I feel ya completely--seriously. I was also waited quite some time before my Loyola Secondary came...as well as at UCSF, Northwestern, and NYMC (although not so much at NYMC).

It doesn't make much sense to me either how these schools are looking through our applications and determining when to send out secondaries, but it does make me curious.

It seems though that you and I have been getting secondaries at around the same time though..haha. I'd ask for your stats to see if there are some commonalities, but I don't want to sound like I'm prying haha!

For the time being, relax, enjoy summer, and maybe we'll encounter each other somewhere along the interview trail..since it seems like we're applying to a handful of the same schools!

NY resident, verified 7/8, and I got it. My last name is at the beginning of the alphabet. I also have curly hair, just painted my toenails pink, and ate yogurt for breakfast this morning.

Wouldn't it be funny if the majority of a med school class had names at the beginning of the alphabet due to the order of the secondaries being sent out? Or if more people get accepted to med school who have last names in the first third of the alphabet than those with end-of-alphabet-last-names?? Someone should research this as a form of procrastination...

For some odd reason, I have faith in the universe/world/planet/life that this won't happen 🙂

You know, it's probably the way they did it. If they have (say 5000) primary apps and they don't want to crash their servers, maybe they just do it by last names, over the course of the week and then probably start reviewing after that. I think many SDN'ers might prefer it if they did it by completion, but we're a neurotic bunch I think.

That sucks for me, because I'm towards the end of the alphabet. Do other people who got secondaries mind sharing if they were towards the beginning/end?

I'm guessing that state of residence is the most likely explanation - they'll probably do some of the more populous states (CA, NY) and the Northeast first (just going on closer location = more likely to attend) and then deign to send those of us in what the coasters so fondly term "flyover states" later in the week. Anyone care to share state of residence? I'm TN.

I'm in PA, 12 minutes from Drexel University by car, have lived here since I was a teenager, and went to Drexel for undergrad - didn't get a secondary.

I'm in a "flyover" state. I recently learned that the bf's family lives 1.5 miles from Drexel medical school... but I doubt that Drexel magically knows that (the bf didn't even know that). I don't have high stats BUT my last name is close to the beginning of the alphabet.

My last name starts with a "V", I have no secondary 🙄

Oh well, theory disproven. Inclined to agree with Lokhtar - the first letter of my last name is right in the middle of the alphabet, so maybe tomorrow?

I think it has to be random lol. First letter of my last name is right near the beginning of the alphabet and I haven't gotten it yet!

I was verified super early and I haven't gotten anything yet. I also live within 5miles of both hahneman and the med school.

I'm not worried yet, it can take up to a week to roll everything out - if i havent gotten it by friday then ill worry

Hey did anyone apply for this dual program?
If what do u know about the program?

I'm from TX. Anyone else? 🙂
Verified 6/16. Received secondary 8/3. (Last name is in the beginning too.)
Gl everyone!

So it definitely looks like they're going alphabetically. I know if I have to apply again, I'm changing my last name to Aaron.

Why not go for broke? You could change your name to AaaaaaaaaaaPleaseLetMeIntoDrexel 🙂

I went to high school with a kid named Aaron Aaaba.

No joke, I'm almost positive his parents gave him the first name Aaron to ensure that no one will EVER beat him in an alphabetized list.

For the folks who have submitted their secondaries, has your information been filled in on the status page at the bottom? It's been a few days and no change for me.

Sigh...still no secondary and I was verified in June.

still no secondary... last name starts with S

I'm totally pwning the ppl who said we'd get it in a few days 😛

Hey if it comes out tomorrow, then technically I'm still "right"... The whole last name thing MAY have truth to it..since mine is towards the end of the alphabet.

I have to say though, how hard is it for them to just "order" it in order of submission and send the darn thing out to us.

What letter does your last name start with? 😛

I guess it's not by last name either...mine is before N and I still haven't received it.

received and completed the secondary this morning, in-state

Just received secondary this morning, last name starts with an M

Hey, guys. Wanted to wish you all good luck in the application cycle! Drexel is a pretty enjoyable med school, so I've got my fingers crossed for you. If I end up as your student interviewer, just be yourself and we'll get along splendidly.

Received and submitted today, last name starts with "M."

Hey guys this may be a dumb question but are we suppose to pay the application fee first? Then fill out and submit? Or can we just fill it out and then pay the fee?

received today, last name starts with S

I don't want mine til next week, unless I can get the four in my "to-do" stack finished before then. 😉

Only this one and one other yet to receive though. Woohoooo! And I'm impressed that I was screened in everywhere this application cycle - to all other mediocre applicants out there: here's to us!

:luck:

received today too, easyyyyy

So after reading the instructions, it seems like we wont get any email notifications. Should we just check the status everyday to see if we got an inteview?

But my last name comes before 'S' and ppl with last names starting with S already got theirs

Yeah, people after my last name have been getting secondaries.

Sigh...I think you were right all along.

Is it possible they are doing it last in first out?

Submitted verified AMCAS 6/23, received secondary 8/6.

Would be hilarious if it was actually completely random in terms of submission -> receiving secondary and I get it in like September.
