Does adding a school to your AMCAS application (causing you to have to resubmit/reverify) have the effect of resetting the date that schools that you've already applied to think you submitted your primary app to them?

If so, Ima kill Cougs for making me add UCSD a few days ago... 😉
 
No. AMCAS does not hack your schools database and move your application to the back of the line.

I wouldn't really sweat the dates too much, unless you are cutting yourself short by a decent amount of time. Otherwise, just correct it on the secondary. I don't think they analyze them that closely. You can always send an update, but I wouldn't sweat it too much. Just my take though.

i accidentally put oct 2007 instead of oct 2008 for one of the dates and i graduated may 2008 so it looks like i was already working full time during my last year of college. amcas doesnt let me update work/ECs section so i guess I should probably email all the schools? i was wondering if its even that big of a deal but because of the overlap, im not so sure

If it were me, I wouldn't even sweat it. Just put the correct dates on your secondary. But, that's just what I would do...

Nah, it's always something I've wondered as well, but no, it doesn't seem so based on "word on the street".

no secondary here verified in the june twenties for sure! do they screen??

I called AAMC a few days ago, and verified that it doesn't send your application to the back of the line.
 
This lack of secondary is getting a little ridiculous... Has anyone spoken to the admissions office?

Got the secondaries.... I think you all should be more patient cuz there is no screen and you will finish the secondaries in less than 30 minutes so don't sweat

Not if you're a non-trad app. LOL. Took me a good hour or two to describe what I have been doing since I graduated.

But relieved I've finally submitted. Just 5 more (out of 24) to go.

Don't you have that written for other schools?

Nope. Actually the first I ran into it. I was able to piece some of my other essays together but I still had to make sure it flows well.

The secondary is up? Anyone allowed to post the secondary question here?
 
They email it you.

And if you are student there is no question, and if your not - its like what are you doing now, or if there were any breaks in ur education, then detail them
 
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering, my grandmother had a stroke about a month back, and I have been taking care of her as my parents and her other children work and I am unemployed at the moment. I have been cleaning her, and helping her walk, do exercises with the PT, etc. Would this be appropriate to add to my secondary and other ones for that matter?

Anyone who received a secondary, would you mind posting your verification date and date you received the secondary? Thanks... let's try to make some sense out of all this confusion...
 
Tried it earlier. It's not by submission date, or last name. There must be some other formula.

verified 6/14/2010, received secondary on 8/6/2010, submitted it on 8/8/2010. For anyone that has submitted their secondaries, where do you check to see if you're complete? Is it the part where they ask you to 'view your decision'? Just asking because I don't want to sit around like an a**hole when they might be missing something. Thanks

To see if you're complete, click view status/decision on first page, then you have to log in again, then click on fall semester 11-12, and on that page it will say complete or incomplete 🙂

Now complete.....I guess I've gotta "keep checking" the "banner" website to see if any changes to my status have been made.

I'd normally be happy to check, but this unique log-in/password/website layout is cumbersome...but hey, offer me an interview/acceptance and I'll be happy! 🙂
 
From my experience last year, they kind of expect people to do the secondary quickly. So they do them in waves and then, if you pass the first review, you will get an interview really quickly. For me, this was the last secondary in and by far the first interview received.
 
Complete here. Received and submitted 8/6. I don't check the site too often so I don't know when it changed.

been verified since early June, this is the only school I'm waiting for...and I used to go there...hating on a former student
 
yeah but I wasn't verified until 8/10. don't forget to check your junk mail.

ya, still nothing for me. i was verified in late june. it sucks to see that people are already complete and i haven't even received the secondary. doesn't this put us at a disadvantage?

highly highly doubtful. how can they penalize you for something out of your control?
