Based on what we all are aware of, I would assume they are sent using a mail delivery service for delivery by the time those accepted receive the packages.

I think the majority are sent USPS Priority (2-3 day) and a few, depending on the student's location (if outside US, perhaps?), are sent via fedex.

From last year's thread, i think it was USPS priority.
That being said, I do hope they have sent them out today, so at least by monday or tuesday we should have all heard back. This wait is getting old

Wish I could help you guys - and ladies - out here. Most of us don't know (and don't really think to ask or have time to ask) the day-to-day details of the admissions office to such a degree as to the exact date/time they send decisions out, or whether they sent decisions by Express or First Class or Bike Messenger or Homing Pigeon. But rest assured that they aren't delaying to be mean ... they were interviewing until very recently and the ADCOMs are meeting like crazy these last two weeks because they care enough to give everyone a fair shot - even those who applied at 11:59 before the deadline.

If it makes you feel better, the current fourth years are freaking out because they match for residency in a week (bigger deal than med school) and second years are hearing back in the next week about Third Year NIH grants and scholarships (maybe not as big as med school, but still).

I realize it's agonizing, but start learning to cope with "waiting" because there's plenty more to come!

P.S. If you're accepted, come to second look. It's gonna be great. And/or just come to med school here.

Thanks for the update. Looks like obsessive mailbox, Gmail, SDN checking - Part II - starts on Monday. But its nice to know I can stop thinking about it for the weekend.

no worries at all. just wanted to dispel any thoughts of "dukemed students are being witholding" for whatever reason.

wishing you guys all the best over the next week. there are definitely many who could come and thrive at dukemed, more than we can take. even if you don't get in, i'm sure many of you will still turn out to be great doctors. and that's all that matters to your future patients anyway.

Just called admissions, the lady on the phone was really nice. She said they are currently working on sending out the mail, and will send some today and the rest next week.

If we follow what happened last year when acceptances were mailed on friday, then emails were tues/wed. But who knows?

I dont know if we can follow what happened last year. It sounds like they said "some" acceptances were mailed out today. It almost seems like they still might be meeting and only sending out those definite acceptances so far, so as to keep to their statement "we will begin notifying by the week of March 7."

Who knows. But if the committee needs the extra time to decide to admit me, I'd be totally fine with that. 😀 I suppose we should have some answers by next week, and maybe some Duke undergrads will hear by tomorrow?

p.s. anyone have any good movie selections to keep occupied this weekend?

Definitely tough to say for sure. All I can say is that it seems non-rolling schools send out one big batch of acceptances (via snail mail or email) at the same time. I can't think of one that regularly does it differently, or has done it differently this year. Most promise that "more acceptances are coming" but they never do. Columbia, Harvard, etc just chuck them all out there, I don't see why Duke (with such a small class to fill) would do it differently. But we will know very very soon. Good luck everyone 🙂

I interviewed at Duke in late January and I had my PCLT interview on the same day as my regular MD interviews. I was notified a week after receiving the Duke interview invite that they also wanted to interview me for the PCLT program, and they worked with me to schedule the PCLT interview on the same day as the other interviews.

I'm a bit confused. Since the interviews are all through skype, how come you had to schedule the interviews the same day as your Duke interview? Was your pclt interview in person?

Hey everyone,

I've decided to open a betting pool about when decisions will come out. $10 to join. You can bet for either the day people begin receiving acceptances, and/or the day that the waitlist/rejection email goes out. To bet for both, it will be $18. Winner of the acceptance day bet will receive 60% of the pot, and winner of the waitlist/rejection day will receive 40% of the pot. If more than one person is correct, the pot will be split between those persons for each category. However, if the same person gets both correct, they will get 100% of the pot (and will not have to split it with others) and the pleasure of being amazing. If more than one person gets BOTH correct, then the pot will be split between those people.

Lol thanks. But I doubt emails will be out before people start receiving acceptances. Also I am starting to wonder if they mailed ANY acceptances friday like the lady told me because you'd think those in NC would have gotten it by now. Then again they could have mailed those that are in further states first to synchronize the dates of receipt? I dunno. I just hope by the end of this week I know my fate

Thanks for the info - I was under the impression that only MSTP candidates would be called if they were accepted. Are they calling MD applicants as well?
