ACCEPTED. I've never felt this good before in my ENTIRE LIFE. To those also accepted, congratulations!

Did everyone last year get the emails all at once or in waves?

Duke is fun of sending emails in waves. So if you haven't received an email yet, that does not mean anything. You might still be accepted and not get an email.

To all those who have been accepted, congratulations.

Hi all, I'm new, but i had been reading this thread since last Monday. This has been the most nerve wrecking time of my life. I wish you guys all the best.

This should be more reassuring than it is. At the moment, I'm just assuming the worst. 🙁

Anyone call and ask the admissions office if they're sending out more second look weekend emails?

Woohoo! So glad they emailed! Unbelievable!

And no PCLT mention here either, but I would assume that we got in!

Maybe is last name based? Can we get some first letters?

Anyone else just get the typo letter? Scared me half to death, like it was not supposed to me!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I haven't received an email now I'm fearing the worst...again. Hopefully the previous poster is write about the "waves of responses."

there goes that theory 😛

In last years thread, there were like 3 waves of acceptances. But most were actual letters and some people got the second look email before they got letter in the mail.

They may have tried to fix that this year. No clue. :scared:

I know there's the theory of letters going in waves, but I feel like that's more the physical snail mail letter, which makes sense because you can't guarantee them all arriving at the same time. Emails however... can much more easily go out at the same time. Sad 🙁

Congrats to those accepted

Here's another theory: when did you guys interview / when were you complete? They may be going chronologically *fingers cross*

two questions: did any of the people who received hard copies of their acceptances also get the email?

Are there any Duke graduates on here who have gotten their acceptances yet? It really seems like not that many people have responded about their news so far... maybe I'm just imagining that.

ZOMG!!! YESSSS!!! ACCEPTED!!

Also, that typo e-mail, scared me as well. Heh. Although, did he also make a typo in the subject of that correction e-mail? "type" instead of "typo" Or just being funny, perhaps? ^^ More than willing to forgive, haha!!

Congrats to those accepted!!
If I may ask, were you guys all on campus interviews, or were there any virtual interview acceptances? Last yeear virtual interviewers heard back a bit later and thats my last shred of hope :xf:

Interviewed on campus 11/17. Completed info in late August.

I haven't gotten the hard copy yet, just the email. This is the first line of the email
"Hello and congratulations on your acceptance to the Duke University School of Medicine (this email may reach your before you acceptance letter arrives) "

So it seems that some people may actually get an email acceptance before the actual hard copy. Hoping for good news for you guys.

Interviewed in early September. I believe it was one of the first sessions, and it was on-campus.

Anyone with an acceptance interview in February? I'm starting to assume the worst (again)...🙁

accepted! i can't believe it! congrats to all the others accepted, and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear.

for anyone else wondering if they're going chronologically, i interviewed in january so it wasn't that early....might be random?

What a strange way to find out about not being accepted.. wish they had sent out either rejections / waitlists first, or at the same time

ah no email for me either! looks like I'm f***ed; peace out DukeMed! And congrats to all of those accepted! 🙂

i interviewed on 2/7. but i was invited in october, just had to schedule later for work related reasons.

I keep telling myself that they have *always* done multiple waves in the past (going back 3 years at least) so hope is not lost yet. But then again, it's hard to stay optimistic without an email in your inbox.

I like the virtual interviews hearing back later idea. 😛 but that's only cause I had one. I was one of those people who was one of the last to interview (like 2 or 3 weeks ago I think) so maybe I"ll be one of the last to hear back.

congrats to those accepted! duke definitely had my favorite group of interviewees out of the schools i've been to, so i'm a bit bummed, but c'est la vie.

Anyone else just get the typo letter? Scared me half to death, like it was not supposed to me!

Ditto!! For a second I was convinced they made a mistake emailing me the acceptance letter...

so stoked!!

Interviewed 2/17, live in CA (mail has not arrived yet)

Are any of you virtual interviewees? I'm hoping maybe we'll find out later, as mentioned above.

Yes, I got both hard copy and email.

Is it all over for those who didn't get the email today? 🙁

Obviously we can't say for sure, but it sure doesn't look very good.. Can't imagine them sending emails in waves because it serves no purpose. Someone said they do, but I can't buy it.. I assume the rest of us will find our fate tomorrow... stay hopeful though!

This is my second app cycle too. I interviewed last year at Duke and was WL. I smell another WL offer again.

Anyone know the number of people WL'ed and how many of those are typically accepted? I guess data from last year would be best, because the year before they only interview around 850 or so.. Last year they interviewed over 1000 and this year at my interview they told me that they were on pace to match that

Well what purpose does it serve to send out rejections a day after acceptances? Seems like that's not particularly any more likely than them saving a few acceptance emails for the next day...

Or maybe I'm just telling myself things to keep my hopes up when all is already hopelessly lost. I guess we'll find out over the next few days...

The better question is, since it seems like accepted applicants will be getting both an email (an invite to second look weekend?) and a formal acceptance package via snail mail, if there is anybody who received the snail mail that did not yet receive the email, as that would seem to rather conclusively indicate that they are sending emails out in waves. Just sayin...

Also, has anyone heard about the WL yet?

Haha I guess thats true.. never thought about why a school doesn't just send out all of the decisions at once.. hopefully your reasoning is right, and thats a really good question.. anyone?

Does anyone else's status page say "we're sorry, something went wrong"? Just want to see if people who have gotten accepted or people who havent heard back (or everyone) have this message also.

I'm trying to hold on to a smidgen of hope, but it looks like the Ides of March is still to be wary of. I do wish Duke would figure out a slightly less stressful way of informing the masses of their fate.

Congrats to those current future blue devil docs.

Not sure about Duke in particular, but unfortunately I think it is a pretty common trend for schools to send out acceptances one day, followed by WL and rejection emails the following several days. I know Cornell does this at least...I received a WL email the day after the acceptance emails were sent, and the following day, rejection emails were sent out. Worst part is, after the initial batch of acceptance emails, the admission office claimed that "more acceptances would be sent out soon." But, none were...this was clearly done to calm down premeds who freaked out after not receiving the acceptance email, and to prevent a flood of phone calls.

Columbia's even more tortuous decision-sending process was somewhat similar...acceptances were snail-mailed first (priority mail), and WL/rejection letters were snail-mailed in subsequent days...even though they claimed that "more acceptances would be going out," they didn't (at least based on the SDN thread)

Who knows...maybe Duke is different and I certainly hope so...I was worn to death by the NY schools' procedures as were many other pple 🙁
