Dr. D, I thought about staying there and I really wanted to but my sister wanted to drop me off and have coffee with me. She's really sweet and wants to take part in this highly anticipated day! Needless to say, we're going to have to get up super early but I doubt I'll get any sleep at all with all this excitement!:laugh: I'll let you know how things go!!

I feel AMAZING to be a part of the Howard family!! I am so excited...I can't wait to receive my actual packet in the mail =]

I will very likely live in student housing. Do you or anyone else happen to know if student housing is walking distance to campus??? (I doubt I will have a car in DC!)

yeah it's on campus, so you can walk. way too expensive for what you're getting, IMO...i'm probably going to craigslist it.

Good luck. The Howard interview was rather unique in certain aspects.
 
I LOVE this school!!! It was a great day with informative presentations and tours. I love how the students are so friendly and always there to tell you more. The staff was also welcoming and ready to answer any questions presented. I honestly am very impressed and I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to go here. I felt right at home! 😍😍😍

Now we wait... Dr.D, I just joined your club :laugh::laugh::xf::xf:

PS. Thanks everyone for all the support and good vibes sent my way! You all are so amazing and I wish you all success!
 
I remember few months ago we were in the "waiting for interview invite" club and now we are in the "Waiting for result" club! I'm so proud of us and our journey so far 🙂. Can't wait to be in the Howard family club 😀

And DoctorDang, good point! The journey is exciting as well as humbling. But once we're all classmates, we can all smile back on these SDN times and remember how we all went through it together 🙂

Yep, found out today that student housing is walking distance to the COM. However keep in mind that the school is also metro accessible so you can have plenty of options close to metro stations. Also, consider having roommates as renting more rooms and splitting costs is significantly cheaper than studio or single bedroom apartments. Good luck with your search!!

Hey everybody. Just wanted to stop thru and say congrats to everybody who has been accepted and if you are waiting to hear about being accepted or getting an interview, just keep praying. God is good and faithful. Hold on to Him and you will not fail. All you have to do is have faith the size of a mustard seed.

I was also stopping thru to see if there were any questions about anything. I know I said it before and I apologize for not being around much. I am a MSII and getting ready for boards is a nice size task. But, I will still do whatever I can to answer any questions there might be. So if you have any, just shoot! God bless!

I HIGHLY recommend stopping by Howard Univ this coming first friday of Feb for a tour! You sound like a wonderful candidate and it may take just showing your face to Mrs. Walk and Mr. Totten to get your application seriously reviewed (I say seriously because they get soo many apps). I had a friend do just that and he found himself with an interview shortly afterwards.

Hey does anyone know if Howard accepts updates? I was complete a really long time ago and I got the confirmation email about that but no news since. My GPA bumped up by a pretty decent bit and I emailed them my grades and update letter to [email protected] last month. I never got a response to my email and I figured it was just because they have too many emails to respond to. I can never seem to get anyone on the phone to ask so I was wondering if anyone knew if they accepted updates through email or just discard them?
 
Hey Guys

This is my first post on SDN! I interviewed at Howard on the 26th and absolutely loved the school and their mission. A LOT of smiles and a great attitude from both faculty and students, it felt just like home. I felt as if i belonged there more than any other school. As a minority coming who grew up in a diverse under served area this school is the PERFECT fit.

I hopefully can't wait to be apart of the Howard family.

I have also been complete since around October, possibly in September. Just keeping my fingers crossed for getting an interview. Keeping my fingers crossed even more about my updates being taken so I have a chance at interview! Congrats to everyone with interviews and being accepted.

@supermommd, hang in there!! I also second the post about you visiting for the tour the first week of February. It's always good to go and talk to admissions whenever you get a chance! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!
@BlakeGriffinfan, call the office of admissions during their time-slots (which are listed on their website) and ask if they received the updates. I did that a week after I sent mine a few months ago. Good luck!

This school is amazing...I interviewed with some of you guys on the 26th as well. I'm the other guy from Queens with the twins. What's up everyone? We were such a cool group; I hope good news is in the making for all of us... Stay positive folks.. and stay focused. God is great!

Thank you! I remember you too Beeweew. Yea, Howard is on my mind all the time these days... I don't know how I'm going to manage until the 15th (yes I'm a little neurotic)...:scared:...I just walk around like I'm cool..😎..

My prayers are with you LaDoctora14 and SuperMomMD! My prayers are also with our fellow Howard MSII's as they prepare for their Step 1 exams.

Sorry but what is on the 15th? I just called them and had to resend my updates. What a waste of a month! Man, I feel stupid. I hope I get an interview, but at this late in the game, I think it won't happen 🙁

The 15th is when interviewed applicants can find out their results. They will either be accepted, rejected, or waitlisted. The 15th is also the day when you'll be seeing lots of screaming and highfives on this thread!:bow:

Hope the links work, but this is just why HU is so awesome... the social mission aspect of medical schools is rarely ranked and it's great to see this perspective from a research article.

High levels of research funding clearly indicate an
institutional commitment to research and probably indicate
missions that value technical medicine and specialization
rather than training in primary care and practice in​
underserved areas.

I thought it would be something interesting to share! Enjoy!
 
Has anyone attended one of the campus tours on the first friday of the month? I am planning on taking off of work Friday (as I just found out about them this month!) But wanted to know a little of what to expect? Does anyone think it has helped them get an interview??
I love Howard, and have sent 2 updates, but haven't heard a thing!!

Any advice??

Yep, I did attend but it was much earlier in September. It's very informative and the tours are great. I really think it is something that is worth your time, specially considering the fact that you are an applicant. You will meet the admissions staff and I'm sure they would note that you are interested and that you visited when reviewing your folder. It is good to be remembered and to leave a positive impression, in my opinion! Good luck and definitely go for it!

Does that mean if you interview the 1st/2nd week of February (Feb 1-10th) you'll hear something back on the 15th as well? Or does that mean you have to wait until the 2nd week of March? 😕
 
Hey everyone,

I'm new to the board, but I am definitely not new to this thread. I have followed this thread since November, but I never said anything. Let me start off by saying that when I visit threads for the other schools I interviewed at, they definitely do not have the same overwhelming support that I find in here. Everyone in those threads are worried about your GPA, or MCAT scores. But when I enter this thread, I feel welcomed because everyone is so genuine and wants all the applicants to succeed. Members even offered to send up prayers for applicants still waiting to hear from Howard. This is definitely the kind of environment I want to be in when I go to medical school. I interviewed at Howard not too long ago and I LOVED the school. I love everything it stands for and I love the legacy. I hope that I can join all of you this upcoming July for orientation.
